Lol there have been a few rages. I remember someone got really mad at wediafom for playing a super lame honda, i had a rage at nullroar for his keepaway akuma, and lots of people have just complained about ragequitters :D But everybody knows the best character is sagat...

The best Balrog I've played against is tenonez or Tenzonez. I put him slightly above kenken.

Speaking of Akuma, I've been trying to get into his playing style, and it's pretty fun. Especially when I hit my opponent in the air with an Air Tatsumaki Zankukyaku. I can follow up with a Goshoryuken as well. I also really like using EX Demon Flip on my opponents wake up. I can throw them, sweep them, or hit them with the punch to do a blockstring, or throw them after a couple of light punches (is it called a tick throw?).

Yep thats a tick throw. On wakeup do the crossup kick and just time it so its safe against dps. After that you can do a tick throw, just straight up throw, bait a dp, overhead, or do a blockstring and finish with a fireball for distance. If it hits then just complete the combo. If they dp it will whiff, so punish with standing kick-standing hard punch-hurricane kick-sweep or uppercut.

Demon flip on their wakeup is okay, except dp beats everything. Also, NEVER do the sweep, its really unsafe. Youre better off whiffing the palm and then doing a normal sweep.

My gameplan with him is play a footsies game until you can sneak in a throw or sweep, then go nuts with the mixups. Meter is best used to fadc uppercuts to safety, buy not for the extra damage red fireball. So something really important to practice with akuma is hit confirming your uppercuts. Akuma is the only character who can hit confirm his uppercuts. Ken can too, but its tough. Random uppercutting is really effective if theyre applying pressure or they like pressing buttons when playing footsies. Also like you said ex demonflip is a good use for meter because it tracks and its so fast. Yeah those are my akuka tips :p

I've played him and he's really good. I don't think I've seen any other 3k+ Balrogs on Volt. Kind of like Yun, Cody, Sakura, etc. in that i rarely see him so I don't worry much about Balrogs. I probably put Vega in this category too. I've only seen 1 or 2 really good ones that have a game plan once they realize his wall dives don't work against my Dhalsim.

Snooper, I'm not at Wifi right now but maybe in a bit if you're still around. I can try out my Honda but he's not good yet. As far as Abel's i thought there were some really good ones in this thread.

so many unintended uppercuts came out with the lag :S and i thought i would chip you with that uppercut in the last round but no :D I cant really give you any tips for ryu because i never use him, but nice use of air hurricane to beat wakeup dp.

Putting him above Ken|Ken? WHAT?? If he's that good, get him to join TouchArcade.

I remember another good Balrog and he was proficient with a lot of the other low tier characters. Sucks that I don't remember his name though...

GGs Snooper I've been practicing with him for Cammys and Vipers. Those were some fun matches. I switched to Deejay because I've been fooling around with him too. I don't know his matchup with Cammy but assume it is similar to Guile. Not sure if I'll still be up but feel free to invite.

Pretty much. Except you have to be a bit more careful with the fireballs because they have more recovery than guiles. And hes got no good anti air without charge, unlike guile. I suggest throwing a fireball, walking behind it and doing a high/low throw mixup. Dee jay can do a psuedo overhead with jump-down + kick, becuase it keeps him low to the ground. Maybe just slide behind your fireball to keep down back charge, then apply pressure with the sobat kicks (i think thats what theyre called). I dunno though, havent played too much dee jay.

In other news, I was wrong, you can do meaty attacks. I just managed to do meaty low hard punch-ultra with cammy. Try it out for yourself in training mode. You have to do the hard punch just as ryu (or whoever the dummy is) flips their torso upright. Youll know it worked if you get a 9 hit combo. Im not sure what possibilities this is going to create, but ill do some research. Timing is really strict though, so its probably not going to matter in laggy matches.

yes. If you are talking about TenOnez. His Balrog is just that good. He beat my sagar 7:2. I never thought I would have trouble against any Balrog until I met this guy. Try to invite him in GC a couple time, but never get response. I guess he only like to play ranked game.

I felt the same way, there is no way I'm going to get beat by a balrog! Sure enough I did. He plays one hell of a counter game and he is very disciplined, none of my fakes worked on him.

I forgot to add, his footwork is amazing!

Coming from you where my Bison goes 3-17 against your Sagat, his Balrog must be beast then.
