I play with both off but I'm thinking about turning auto block on because the phone doesn't seem to be registering when I'm turtling and I keep getting hit by stupid shit like fireballs that are thrown half way across the screen!

There are a lot of reasons why the SP Assist button was the smart thing for Capcom to do. The biggest two are the ability to really play the game on a phone (and to be fair, pulling off big combos, even with SP Assist on, is pretty damn tough) and the larger player base that comes with it (due to an easier learning curve). But it just sounds like Volt isn't for you. I don't know if they make versions for handheld gaming devices, but maybe look into that or stick with the console version.

Oh no please don't start the SP Button Discussion again... :D

By the way if you have questions on dexterity, you can ask Tofu Gief how he pulls off those ex-SPD without fail... LOL...

It's a cell phone game my friend, there won't be a Evo 2k12 volt tourny but rest assure if there was you'd be taking that gold fightstick home cause you chose "dextirety" over a clearly designed control scheme to make the game more enjoyable to people just looking to kill a few minutes here and there.

I used to share your mentality until they added online and realized that online lag doesn't allow your inputs to register. So say for example you are about to get the game winning shoryuken and a lag spike happens so while your mashing your screen your opponent just hits thier ultra button and in all your mashing the only thing the stick registers is your forward motion and bam you eat an ultra and lose.

Most of us have been in the "sp is cheating" camp but at some point you have to consider whether it makes the game enjoyable or not. If its pride or some chip on your shoulder then I suggest you get over it, if not have fun losing.

I used to practice 360s and 720s blindfolded on the home console version. From every angle clockwise and counter clockwise. For hours.
I can't pull off a standing 720, but if i toss out a jab or a short kick, its not a problem. :D

I play with SP on but auto-block off. I think auto-block is way too cheap but now I'm thinking of turning it on, not necessarily because almost every uses it but because it seems like the game does register my inputs in time. So many times I see a jump attack/cross-up coming yet I still get hit by it.

sry volo, later, i getting crashed by Tofu Gief now... Scary flying 500 pound of tofu,.. But after 10 loses, 1 draw and 1 WIN (*finally) I think I roughly got the idea how to play, but its very difficult as 1 mistake = a lot of your health gone...

Any comments on Blanka and Akuma? My Akuma still needs more attacking options and variety I think, getting too predictable... Also haven't really got the air grab timing correct.

Imagine everytime, when Gief grabs you, he screams:

    Flying Tofu! *Splat*
    Flying Tofu! *Splat*

    TOFU WINS.

    Flawless Victory

*Insert scary MK music soundtrack here*

Sagat - Bison should be 6-4 unless someone finds a way to get out of the infinite loop of after blocking a tiger knee -> cr. kick -> tiger knee without burning an ex bar. Even when you do use that ex crusher to get try to get out of the iffy situation, they can SRK and you'll end up getting hurt or both will whiff and you end up with a loss since you're down 1 bar now. Teleporting is not an option either since they'll just spam away forward/back + SP and you'll eat it. Backsteping only works to evade the cr. kick or grab but you never really know what's going to happen after you block a tiger knee since they have 4 options: the cr. kick, SRK, tiger knee, or grab. Retaliating with a cr. kick doesn't work either since you'll either just trade hits and pause the barrage or just take the hit.

    So it goes like this:
Sagat with less than 2 bars:
    Tiger knee ->
    1. cr. kick
    - only way to come out on top is by doing ex crusher
    2. neutral jump and punch
    - able to back dash, but it will only benefit Sagat since it will end up being a safe distance to tiger knee again
    3. grab
    - tech or ex crusher. Teching is kinda tough with lag though and it's tough knowing if it's coming or not

Sagat with 2 bars or more:
    Tiger knee ->
    1. cr. kick
    2. neutral jump and punch
    3. grab
(1-3) is the same as above
    4. SRK
    - nothing you can do. Block and Sagat will FADC and do whatever he pleases. Use ex crusher and just make some temporary space or eat the SRK.

Even if you are able to manage hitting Sagat with EVERY ex crusher, chances of winning is slim since those ex bars take a while to build up.

Oh god, folks commenting on the "inferiority" of SP users.

I thought we were over this?

Have you ever been in a tournament when you started focusing non-stop...you could even let go of the fight stick and you would still be spamming focus? Because that happens to me quite frequently if any sweat gets on the focus button. In the middle of matches, no less.

Have you been in a tourny where you baited an uppercut, set up a punish, and then a sudden lag spike while you were finishing your input ruined it all and you walk forward like an idiot into another uppercut?

This is a game that has lag as well as hardware issues (not to mention a lack of moves and buttons). SP is there so that players fight each other, rather than fighting the interface. That's as it should be.

@Fffan you think that's bad? Try getting out as Blanka. I posted a few pages back about how horribly difficult that specific setup is. As Blanka, I don't have the advantage of teleport or ex headstomp, either...and my EX balls actually lose to the low kick.

But anyhow, you might want to try a fast (i mean VERY fast) focus to absorb the kick and punish before the knee. The timing is pretty unforgiving.

Otherwise, you can ultra right after the first hit of the low kick (before the knee). The teleport is always a good option - even if you do eat a fireball (which isn't even assured). I'm not sure of the timing but I think you have time to teleport again to immaterialize through the fireball before it hits.
