Actually, there was a bit of a damage nerf between Vanilla and Volt characters, at least where Guile and Ryu are concerned (those were the only two I tested), but I DO think that some of the move properties are still based on Vanilla. Probably the reason why Sagat and Akuma are top tiers in this. I don't recall Sagat being ranked as high post-Vanilla, but he's pretty top tier here.

As for Honda doing so little damage, are you mad? Honda does a ridiculous amount of damage. If he did any more, there'd be no reason to pick anyone else! X_X

I tried that. Even if you make a new account, your win/loss records get ported over. You have to wipe your GC data entirely and reinstall. I wanted to have an account just to beat up on scrubs (lol!) but alas it was not to be.

He's never ragequit on me. Course, our matches are usually pretty close.

I'm going to extend this week's round another week because only two of the matches got completed. So you guys'll have until a week from today to finish. :)

Good stuff! Rep Touch Arcade baby! :D

I see him pretty often and quit on the Vs. screen rather than fight a known rage-quitter. I have no problem losing to people, and have lost a match or two to him in the past, but I don't want to waste my time fighting someone who more often than not will quit if I beat him. It's too bad because they're typically fun matches IIRC.

Darn, I had to reinstall Volt to resolved my replay errors. That's the last time I mess around with those raw files :(. I lost all my replays, but at least now I can save new ones.

He loves to spam fireballs, so it's actually more of a challenge for me to get close to him. Last time I played him ended up to be 4/6 against him. 2-0 against his Ryu and 2-2 tie with his Guile.

edit: He didn't really spam in this replay though.

    The low tier.
I don't play Zangief, but I've never come across one online that either (a) uses focus attacks to get through fireballs or (b) uses lariat to dodge fireballs. They either jump or just eat the chip damage. Is it just hard to do online?

I've played played several games against DoRong2, but I've only seen his Ryu and Guile. But he was doing cr. kick > burning kick? Are you sure that's what he was doing? It just sound like a weird thing to do back to back, since the moves dont combo into each other and burning kick at that range is not exactly safe on block. Even if the cr. kick hits, you still have time to recover and block or punish the burning kick.

I realized one mistake I kept making against you was all the air burning kicks that you easily punished. Most of the Bison players I see online are very jumpy, so I was doing burning kicks where I expected you to jump, but you weren't jumping and just punished me when I landed.

Haha, I have no idea how that guess with Honda worked, but like I said, I'll take the lucky win. :D

I don't think that it's hard, but rather I feel its more risky because they can keep spamming fireballs so easily and follow up with an ex fireball or something that could punish the focus.

After watching Shoryutofu's video above, I was just about to ask why he doesn't focus some of the fireballs. Not necessarily to get through them, but to build ultra meter. Focusing through fireballs is probably only effective against the slower fireballs (Guile, Chun Li, Dee Jay), if you try to focus against Ryu, Sagat, Akuma, etc. fireballs, the second fireball will hit you (this is assuming you are dashing forward to get closer) < That has been my experience when using Zangief.

Is it just my imagination or is Guile's double sweep really good in volt? Has it always been this good or am I missing something. It just seems really fast.

I don't recommend focusing two fireballs in a row, focus one and wait for the health to restore and then focus another, while waiting, keep doing neutral jumps or lariats(but that depends on the character you are facing, kens and guiles are OK).

I liked the real slow R...o...u..n.d....1... FIGHT! Then after that animation, the connection got back to normal every time. So many crazy Vipers on here.

Not burning kick, medium thunder knuckle.

Yep, I know. I wasn't talking about trying to focus two fireballs after each other. But if you focus one and dash forward against a character with a fast fireball, the second will hit you before you can recover from the dash animation.

That's what I assumed, I use that a good amount, but not necessarily back to back.

Its way better in volt because the first hit to the second hit is a blockstring. its very punishable on consoles because you can focus/ultra/dp if you block the first hit but not on volt. same with things like hondas low jab-hundred hands and ryus low forward-fireball. but i dont know if his sweep is any faster

was just about to say this - i still try to jump out of the second hit every now and then just because it seems like I should be able to

All you guys posting your replays made me want to share I have a few from awhile back that I will upload later but Shoryu's Gief seems to be the talk of the town lately so it seemed relevant. I was working while recording these so I just threw some music over top of them so you didn't have to listen to me talk about insurance.:p

Here's the three matches I played with Shoryutofu, sorry about the crummy quality it was the best I could do without jail breaking my device. His Gief is downright terrifying it certainly was not an easy fight.
