Haha, who told you I could beat Shoryutofu's Gief with Viper? I think I've also only beat him twice. He beats me to a pulp every time.

I think it's just such a bad matchup for Viper. She has below average health and Zangief does so much damage AND has above average health. So it's not easy to stay alive long enough where you have a good chance at beating him.

I remember matches against Shoryutofu where I would feel like I was at an advantage in the match, but one small mistake could cause you to lose a big chunk of health, especially if he gets a knockdown.

Interesting... Where did you 'find' it?

Yeah yours is the most effective Sakura fighter i have played so far...good cross up game.
Guile's little jab is nice, great for escaping a high pressure situation...tag and move! Seems to have good priority too.

    Against Gief, good options are:

Dhalsim, Sagat, Bison, Dee Jay, Viper, Chun Li

Really, those are the most annoying when I play my Gief. Akuma has the potential to "perfect" Gief relatively easily, but a SINGLE mistake and it's 70% of his hp gone, so 95% of Akumas are cake with Gief.

    I completely agree.

I main Akuma and I love fighting Zangief because I can just pound him nonstop. But, I've lost many, many rounds in literally two moves.:(

    The low tier.
I've played a lot of Fei Long vs. Gief recently - it can be such a giant pain in the ass. I feel like I control 80% of the game, screw up once and lose.

    I agree.

I especially hate Dee Jay and Chun Li due to their good mix up.

Here's a replay of Zangief vs Chun Li. The video was recorded before I perfected Display Recorder settings so its a bit choppy.
This was a very old replay, but watching it again made me see how I could have played this match a little better.
This one was a good learning experience because see how Chun Li knew how to mess Zangief up, but one mistake on from her cost her a LOT.
What I really like about Zangief is his massive amount of health which allows me enough time to understand who I'm dealing with and how to respond accordingly.

I admit, Zangief's ultra is hella scary when his heallth is really low.

Anyone want to do a few rounds, I'm on teleconference at work and they are boring me to tears. So instead of paying attention I would rather punch faces.

Good games voloster - haven't played too much of that Fei mirror match before - you definitely have the better Fei.

Haha sorry just as I hit quit I realized I left it at 50/50 your Sagat gave me nightmare as if that match wasn't hard enough for Fei, you being really good with him didn't help. Your Fei was practically at the same level as mine I'd say we were about even there we both bated out the same traps on one another it was just a game of who made the first mistake.

Also I never have played someone who uses Focus Attacking as offensively as I do it was a nice change to play someone who played similar to myself.

Great ultra bait by Chun there at the end, but then she walks right into the SPD. Gotta learn, when people whiff big moves, i.e. SRKs or SPDs, they usually go to the same well right away.

Oh no problem, you won the Fei mirror match 4/6. I screwed up a few times trying to ultra/super your focus charge - it only works when you're in the corner and can't backdash.

Sagat is my main, fyi. As Fei, what you want to do is try and stand just outside of tiger knee range - punish whiff tiger knees with rekkas, chicken wing over low tiger shots, and duck under high tiger shot and punish with rekkas. When you get a knockdown, use cross ups / focus attacks to bait uppercuts. It's a really hard spacing game with Fei, and is most def in Sagat's favor. The focus attacks are mostly useless because of the tiger knee, which sucks because that is probably Fei's best weapon.

I have a question about Gief vs Guile. If he (Gief) blocks just about anything except a Boom or a jab, it's a pretty safe bet I'm gonna eat an SPD, Ultra, etc, amirite? What do I do if he has a good defense game and I keep getting tagged off blocked normals? His throws beat mine, Booms sorta help, but what are my other options, particularly against someone using SP Assist who can SPD at the drop of a hat?

I really don't see gief as that big of a problem.
He can be easily controlled by the simplest of tactics and I don't mean spamming fireballs.
I could post a couple of gief vs gief replays if anyone is interested in seeing that kind of match up. Maybe it can give some insight on how to handle gief better.
Only thing is I don't think the giefs in my replay were that good, but who knows.
Anyways, if there are interest, I would have to record and upload to youtube first, but that would have to wait for another 4 hours or so.

    The low tier.
So I just figured out something in training mode w/rt Fei Long, specifically in regards to the Sagat matchup. When most characters crouch, the horizontal length of their hitbox decreases. But with Fei Long, the exact opposite happens - his hitbox gets bigger horizontally when crouching. So there is a range where Sagat cannot hit you with a tiger knee when you are standing, but can when you are crouching. The worst part about this is that within this range is the line for the outer range of Fei's rekka. Which means that there is no range in which you can stay crouching and punish both whiffed high tiger shot and whiffed tiger knee. This REALLY sucks for Fei.
