Lol. The Vega mirror was hilarious. The end especially. Grabbed you 3 times in a row with the izuna drop thing.
I've found this same thing happening about everyday. I'll be having a good string of matches going and then my opponent decides to try to be clever and starts playing nonstop defense. Basically, he'll spend the whole match trying to be on the other side of the screen. Eventually I'll get so bored and frustrated that I'll screw up. Usually I'll still win (100% defense can't win, obviously), but sometimes they'll get ahead with somebody like Dalsim. Regardless of the results, we don't play again and the good string of matches we had is over. I refuse to play somebody who won't fight and tries to win by being boring.
Well thats a perfectly legit strategy to be honest. Characters like sagat, dhalsim and guile aren't (usually) going to rush you down, why would they. I've played lots of dhalsims and not one has gone offensive on me (at the start of the round, usually when I play dhalsims ill try and get an early life lead and then just turtle them eventually they teleport and just eat a dp. give em a taste of their own medicine ). Saying that you refuse to play someone who's playing 'boring' is cutting out a pretty large percentage of the players and isn't really gonna get you anywhere. I used to get so mad at guiles. Its a horrible matchup for cammy, especially since she can't crossup in volt. I used to quit as soon as I saw guile come up. What I did was I played guile for a few hours over the next few days and realised, hes not as broken as I thought, it actually takes skill to play him. That changed my whole outlook, I realised I was the scrub. Whenever a Dhalsim or Cody (or someone I just beat really convincingly) player would rage quit, or send me a message saying 'Cammy is so cheap use a real character' etc. I would scoff. I knew they were the scrub who didnt learn the matchup properly or whatever and decided that they knew the game better than me and Cammy is broken. This game is actually really balanced. More balanced than AE, more balanced than Vanilla, about the same as super. AE of course has the twins and fei, vanilla has sagat, the best character in super is debatable...Cammy, Guile Akuma, Honda, Fei, Chun, Abel, Bison are all top tier for sure but "The Best" isn't clear. Volt is kind of the same. I personally think Sagat is the best, but I'm sure alot of people think akuma, I'm sure alot think honda, I'm sure alot think ken (lol)....But even though Sagat is the best (imo) it's not by far. The only problem I have with this game is that some of the characters just havent been given their strongest tools (Sakura and Yun especially come to mind). Anyway I strayed a fair bit from your comment but you've gotta take everyones play style as legit. Blankas are gonna slide, hondas are gonna headbutt, akumas are gonna fireball etc. You just have to learn how to beat different strategies, otherwise they're the better player, boring or not. I always get a LOL when I get a rage message about cammys 'unblockable' hooligan throw, just duck FFS! PS. Seriously though, I don't know how akumas who literally don't do anything except fireball, super and ultra enjoy themselves. And then send a rage message saying cammy is cheap cos she can spiral arrow under air fireballs.....
If someone wins, they win. A balanced offense should wreck a good defense. If they refuse to leave the corner, start building meter (safely). It usually pressures them into leaving corner (or risk giving you a ton of free supers). You don't have to commit when they run and hide. Just show them that you are perfectly happy to build meter. If you have fireballs, there's no shame in spamming them. Safe-on-block specials (for chip damage) like scissor kick are your friend as well. Make sure to do them randomly - not just as soon as you can, one after another. Bait a counter. Once you have a life lead of more than a few hits, you can play D of your own and force them to be aggressive before the clock runs out.
Thats pretty much how most of my Gief matches ends up being like. I've played close to about 5,000 matches with just Gief on volt and probably more then 2500 were against defensive/keep aways and about a 1000 of those were ragequitters. Imagine playing best out of 7 with someone that spends all their effort trying to keep away. The crazy part is I keep coming back for more. What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment. I think I've develope a tolerance for players like that. If I hadn't, I'd prabably be a ragequitter myself lol. All I can tell you is don't take the game too seriously. Just have fun with it and if someone plays in a way you don't like, then move on to the next match (but don't ragequit lol). I've only recently come to this conclusion myself and I have to say I enjoy the game so mu ch more. Edit: But I also agree with both Snooper and Nullroar.
one thing that pisses me off more than ragequitting is when ill win say 3 matches, the other guy will then win 1 and leave. OH MA GAWD?!?!
Sorry for running like that YuYu, at work and I have to finish some docs that came in Good games and we can finish up later.
I know right? Isn't it funny how it doesn't matter how many matches we win; 3, 6, or 9 times in a row, but if we lost that one last match and they bail out, it just doesn't seem fair to us does it? How about after losing said matches and finally winning that last one. What should we do? Take our small victory and bail out (hoping the other guy would be piss ) or take a chance at another ass beating. It seems like the only time quitting seems fair is when the loser cuts his lost and leaves (without ragequitting).
I guess. To be honest I usually enjoy getting beaten up cos I learn, assuming theres no significant lag....
Sometimes, it doesn't feel right leaving after winning. But there's times when the matches are too laggy that it having a rematch won't be fun knowing how the first match went regardless if it was a win or a loss. Or if someone's playing a play style you don't like and you end up winning, I sometimes leave when they want a rematch knowing that they'll probably be pissed at me for doing that. Or when there's too much of a difference in skills, it's not really fun beating on someone that's kind of clueless. That's the best way to learn. I used to save replays when I first started using Bison when I either lost by a small margin or got blown up to analyze what could have worked and where you could have improved where you were already good at.
dunno why it disconnected yyhakusho but i have to go anyway. good games man, that whiffed uppercut-uppercut caught me a few times lol, i forget how fast her recovery is. just a word of advice, if youre gonna do a random uppercut be sure to fadc so that its safe. you can also uppercut fadc ultra with viper which is kinda cool. we should have some games again another time, good to finally play you
sorry for the disconnected....i know Snooper but sometime i cant fadc because i get laggy so its to late and i get counter.....your cammy have a lot offense same with me but i'm not good enough for you.... actually how much speed internet connection required for "no laggy"?
The connection problem was on my end. Buncha Vanderbilt students sucking up my precious bandwidth! Lol! But yes, I'll hit you up and hopefully we'll get to play a little more often. Are you usually available around 8pm your time? Yeah that's exactly what it was. The connection would be great for a round and then back to shitty. Unfortunately the bolded isn't true so much in this game. If you're attacking, you're at somewhat of a disadvantage what with your opponent being able to blow you up with an Ultra if you're even a frame late on a link, or on wakeup, 10 years of hitstun on some hits, etc. But other than that, excellent advice that anyone looking to get better should follow. That's kinda how you have to play against Gief though. His grab range is so great that if you're too close too often, you're gonna eat SPD or worse on a regular basis. I think Gief is top tier in this game. He's a lot better than people give him credit for. But it IS really boring to play against someone who continually runs away. I guess that's what the thing is. The matches take longer and are much less interesting when you have someone who decides they want to play it from full screen. Makes me miss parries lol!
