But getting uppercutted straight to the head (Honda headbutt) doesn't do extra damage? Interrupting one of T-hawk's lunges with a fireball doesn't leave him with an extra huge life loss? It's simply bad balancing - Blanka ball is inferior to headbutt on virtually every level. It has 1 frame more startup, headbutt has 1 frame of invincibility, actual "safe" recovery possibilities, etc.

Blanka's rushdown and cross up game is really really good though. The slide goes under even low tiger shot and punishes up to 3/4 screen. This makes him impossible to zone out. He has that hop-over crossup and a jumping in crossup. He has safe jumps that can't be punished with SRKs on wakeup. His jump motion is very quick and tough to react to. Coupled with the fact that the arch of the jump is really short and has to be anti-aired with very specific type of anti-air. Honda has none of those things. You can play a really mean Blanka and never use Blanka ball outside of combos.

What can tell ya? Blanka's one giant nut sack; soft and squishy. He really does need Shaolin training.
But seriously, I know your frustration all too well with Blanka. I used to main him after all and I agree with everything you've said. He's so fun to play, but has way too much drawbacks to many of his attacks.

Holy @%$#! I'm tempted to start using him in friendlies just to hit that one time so I can save the replay. Wow.

This is also true. Blanka's normal attacks outshine his specials. This is how I usually play Blanka and only use EX ball attacks for wake ups and punishing fireballs. Without being able to control the speed and distance of his normal ball attack, its not worth being use at all.

Play T Hawk against Blanka and then tell me that he's got the short end of the stick.

It's all swings and roundabouts with balancing. Blanka is pretty powerful and has to have some downside or he'd be in league with the Yun's and Fei's of the world.

I'm the same way, although I do occasionally do regular Blanka balls by instinct (and usually regret it). I do, however, still use the diagonal balls because I think they're a lot harder to punish.

    The low tier.
That's gotta be the worst matchup in the game, for sure.

Agree. The diagonal ball is the exception of the 3 regular ball variations, but especially so when used as an anti air.

The regular upball is pretty awesome too. You jump half a screen away thinking you're safe and bang. Nullroar catches me at least once every match with that.

Nece matches Doctamario! Your Guile is the best I have played , including ofcourse Rshksee's! It was funny how we both were trying to sweep one another when we had Ryu and Ken! Now back to study for my midterm:)

He took a LOOOOOT of damage in World Warrior when hit during a Ball attack, but after that, they nerfed the damage quite a bit. I want to say it was only an extra 10% from Champion Edition on. But BB has ALWAYS been an unsafe attack. I only used to in combos when I played Blanka because you really can't rely on it by itself, and he has some great normals (or he did, I haven't really played him much in this.)

But I've won matches against Blanka before because I hit a lucky standing Strong punch against the ball. Made the victory kind of hollow because he took so damn much damage.

You too man. Your Gief is still a beast and my goal is to eke out a win against him one of these days lol!

I'm surprised I won any matches at all with Ryu. I just started playing him. I don't really like the way the Shotos feel in this game. I can't explain it, but I think he's the best of the 5 of them, so I figured I'd try to pick him up. Yours is good too, I wasn't expecting you to pick him!
