Totally agree. Doesn't matters whether its SC or ultra, people can see it miles away and unless I'm really sleepy, or had already input my command (e.g. kick etc), it's nearly impossible for Akuma to connect with his special. It's technically "not comboable" in that sense (maybe I'm wrong on this point). Basically when I'm using Bison, whenever I see Akuma's meters are filled, a voice appears in my head - "Don't Jump, Don't teleport". SOONER or later Akuma is gonna do his super and I just jump away...
well actually that trick is pretty good. you cant counter akumas super if hes right next to you, you have to jump before he activates it. and im not doing it as they get up, hurricane kick-low jab makes them stand. try it out for yourself. and if you dont believe me that you cant jump away from akumas super point blank, go to training, walk up next to them, super and then hit pause. go to settings and turn cpu action to jump. theyll get hit. if you do the same thing with ultra theyll jump away in time. the only way theyll get out of that is by holding jump before they hit the ground, and whos expecting akuma to hurricane-low jab? so they wont be ready for it. anyway akumas meter is better spent on ex air fireballs, ex demon flips (for the auto targeting since you cant choose distance in volt) and fadcing blocked uppercuts. uppercut fadc red fireball isnt worth the meter imo
Sorry shoryutofu, have to go. Up for some games later? Your gief is so patient i beat maybe 70% of the giefs i play becuase theyre just like ima walk up and grab this bitch, but you just out footsied me. i was really pissed when i missed my combo at the very end there but yea i really need to practice that match, good giefs just wreck me, up for a game in a few hours time?
Good matches Snooper! You really know how to change your game plan accordingly. I had to step it up. You almost had me a few times. whew dangerous dangerous I can't play later. Actually, it was a good thing you had to go. I have art designs I need to finish up. Then its off to bed.
Fair enough. Yea the bad thing about gief is i have to play careful. Usually i just go for mixups and take some damage here and there, but you cant do that agaisnt gief, you take some da- BANG youre dead. Everyone has their tough matches though, me having to deal with gief, ryu and guile isnt as bad as you having to deal with dhalsim, akuma and sagat i guess.
Still, it doesn't work if they're getting up off the ground, which is what we were talking about. All they need to do is hold jump as he's doing the "imma-kick-yo-ass" animation and he'll miss. He'll look like he's flying against them for a moment, then they'll jump away. It almost looks like a glitch when it happens, but it's to keep things fair. I've seen it countless times.
Oh yea, this morning I matched up with some Japanese player that main Dhalsim with 4300 bp. Out of 5 or 6 matches I could only take 1 of those from him. Still, those were awesome battles. I wish we could have kept going, but I think he got bored and left.
thats not what we're talking about, which is the point im making. if you do hurricane kick-low jab they dont get knocked down, they do a backflip and land on their feet next to you. if you do super the instant they land then you will hit them unless theyre holding jump BEFORE they hit the ground. i think thats where the misunderstanding was. the reason this is effective is because theyre expecting to get knocked down by the inevitable hurricane kick-uppercut, so they wont be holding jump before they hit the ground. you can replace the super with a throw, and youll get about 50 damage more than if you just did the uppercut, but its riskier. no offense btw, i see what you mean. its funny when people do fullscreen raging demons or wakeup focus .
so some more cool stuff i found. i was playing some more matches against this dhalsim player ken.ken (pretty damn good, like 3500 bp or something) and he did some pretty sick ultra mixups. 1. he would get an untechable knockdown (throw or slide), backdash and then ultra. then he would start charging a focus attack, id be in blockstun and he would hit me with the focus just before i came out of it, because lv 3 foucs breaks block. even if i mashed tiger uppercut he would hit me. dont know how to stop that, suggestions? 2. He would get an untechable knockdown, backdash, ultra. then jump, teleport over my head and go high then do a low kick. I could block that easily enough but then id have to guess if he would do another low attack or quickly jump back-stretchy punch. sometimes id guess right, sometimes i wouldnt, and then id eat the last half of the ultra plus a yoga flame or something. yea this guy was eally good i was going over my mixups with abel, who i still use on friendly sometimes. i didnt discover any better step kick options than what i posted a while back, but he can do jumping hard punch -ultra, which is ridiculous. also he can do rekka-lv 2 fa -crumple. then you can follow up with elbow-falling sky if you want them behind you or wheel kick if you want them infront, they both do the same damage. OR you can do a reset for more damage, since focus attacks scale twice as much as normal, and you probably comboed into it by jumping kick-low medium kick-rekka so the scaling will be pretty bad. so you wait for them to go to their knees after the crumple and then low jab. that will make them stand up again, similar to akumas hurricane kick-low jab. then i just go for tornado throw. does a fair bit more damage, but theyll probably catch on after you do it once or twice, so be careful. but abel is so beast. he has the best mixups in volt by far, he doesnt even need a knockdown. if you do a step kick and its blocked or it hits, MIX UP TIME i posted his step kick options a while back, cant be bothered finding it but i still have the word document if anybody wants. just ask and ill post it again. anyway thats a pretty long post so i better stop it there.
Glad to know you'd met him too. I had a replay of my Bison against him also. If you do met him (as he's not on this forum so I can share a few tips hehe) if you're using Bison: 1) Match his teleports with your teleports 2) Your mix-up is as good as his, so do not waste your chance if you get a knock-down. 3) Just block any yoga fire coming your way, or teleport away, mix up your reactions so he cannot teleport into the "right" place to attack you. 4) Pyscho Crasher is your best friend against Dhalsim: You'll either trade with his ground low punch, or knock him out of his teleports. Use it when you see him teleporting becoz Bison flies the whole screen (almost), so you either hit him, or fly away). It was a cool replay coz by round 2/3, he was kinda confused and just do not move, as he ran out of ideas against me... hahaha... Note! Abel side kick is NOT combo-able (I think), so if he does it, Bison can block and immediately kick back. If he is too close and dashes forward, your kick will not register and you'll get thrown, but if from a NOT TOO CLOSE position then ya, kicking is an option. Depends on timing abit as well... EDIT: See Video of match vs. Ken Ken with my Cute little Blue Bison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nclFrG8Wnf0
no no no. forget tornado throw, forget wheel kick, forget roll that kick is abels best move. on block hes at +1 if you dash, so thats why he gets the mixups. heres what i posted earlier TT means tornado throw, jk means jumping kick and reversals mean moves like shoryuken or flame kick TT beats all throws (even zangief and hondas ultra!) and block, but loses to reversals, jumping and backdashing. Roll beats all reversals and jumping, loses to throws and block. Backdashes depend. JK beats jumping, backdashing, command throws, teleports and some reversals. Loses to block and throws. JK beats ryus uppercut, sakuras uppercut, sumo smash, tiger uppercut, kens uppercut, EX SBK, lariat (most of the time), yoga flame, vegas wall dive, headstomp, devils reverse, thunder knuckle, wheel kick(whiffs), criminal upper , akumas uppercut JK loses to upball, flash kick, tiger knee, yuns upkicks, yoga blast (if you empty you can TT), scarlet terror, flame kick, chicken wing (escapes), cannon spike, djs upkicks, falling sky, ruffian kick, fuikage (unless empty jumped) thats right doing a jumping kick on the characters mentioned will beat their reversals. abel top tier? why roll instead of block? because if they choose to throw then youll get hit by it even if you block. it will cause reversals to whiff so they cant fadc to safety and it crosses charge characters up. also it just confuses them edit: just read your edit. no matter how close or far abel is, as long as the step kick hits you (hit or block doesnt matter) he will dash forward and be at +1 so no you cant throw him or kick him back or whatever. also if its a counter hit then he can do standing punch-cancel first hit into rekka. so basiclly if jumping kick beats the character youre playing's reversal then just mix it up with that and tornado throw. otherwise mix it up with roll and tornado throw. there are other options, like falling sky which will catch jumping back, but roll is always a better option because it beats jumping (you can grab them as soon as they land) as well as reversals. If you do a jumping kick and it connects just follow up with low medium kick-rekka. Ill get around to testing out jumping kick versus characters ultras and supers later on. and ex roll is good against dhalsim if he's teleport happy. wow, just reading this again makes me want to main abel again maybe after the tournament.... thing is though abels only good anti airs air ex air grab and standing hard punch, but standing hard punch has to be done very early. He gets trashed by people who love to just keep jumping
LOL I am never that technical, just that it's interesting to note so much technicalities exist! But hei, that's the reasons why we have so many pros in the forum... Always great to know something we dun know! BTW, Bison does jumps alot... Hahaha... It was quite strange on who to "main" and what was your decision in choosing the particular character. I see for a great majority of the players have some kind of "preferred" choice when it comes to the tourney, e.g. XCool with his Ken, Me with Bison, with a few exceptions like Mooken who uses the whole SF 4 Rooster when he's playing friendly with me. Personally when I say main, it's about using him/her for more than 500 times? That should clock enough mileage/experience to say you had "main" a character... So what do you like about your "main" guy? I love Bison coz he's so attack oriented and have decent range, damage, varieties and speed. And I like the way he laughs. Btw, Like I said, I am not technical in the game, but here are some replays captured using my laptop cam. Sorry for the super poor quality but it does shows Abel getting kicked after side kick > dash > TT failed? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nob3AqsFBA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5mjtFtr3fg And round 3 was when it all went WRONG for poor Abel... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PKZjiRDecs
Originally it was abel, cos i used him in the original ios street fighter. He has no problems against fireball spammers which was 90% of the players near release. Then it was cody, he has good anti air which was why i quit abel and really good damage. Then back to abel for a bit, cody was just too slow and has no combo starter that hits low, which REALLY sucks. Then when 1.2 came out i used yun. I tried and tried with him, but he just isnt that good and i felt like abel was a stronger choice. Funnily enough, I was playing abel one day and a bison came up. His tag was 'cammy is for girls'. He beat me by just jumping again and again so i switched to cammy, for trolling purposes I smashed him and got the standard gc friend request hate mail. i thought i might as well give cammy a shot and shes a beast. She goes really well against akuma and dhalsim and has ridiculous mixups, though not quite as good as abels. basiclly i just like rushdown mixup characters. I would use seth, fuerte, yang or guy for sure if they were added. And im working on my akuma at the moment as well as a sagat. Sagat is a short term anti guile/zangief/honda/ryu character, cammys worst matchups. akuma is who i plan on playing in like a month, after i become good with him. better damage than cammy, demon flip is way better than hooligan for multiple reasons, much better poking game, can stuff all reverslas wih air fireball, hit confirmable uppercut (for fadcing out of trouble), obviously better long range game, better throw range. The only advantages is see cammy having are slightly more health (950 instead of 850), divekick pressure, a comboable ultra and just being less well known. plus she can punish blanka ball, that seems like a really bad match for akuma. and the angle of her uppercut beats bisons headstomp, whereas akumas doesnt. That seems like another bad match for akuma. so..yea oh and akuma has a crossup whereas cammy doesnt
i cant double seismic because my internet sucks and they beat my C,Viper like babylon whore......btw Shoryutofu i need to play with you again for REVENGE....lol
Like I said, I'm not technical in nature but the vid does show Bison liking Abel while he's still in dashing motion? Not sure if he did TT or not as it didn't come out...
mmmm. forgot to mention. step kick dash tornado throw sometimes loses to quick attacks ie chun li's ex lightning legs. no offense but that guy was pretty rubbish, he was just mashing sp. i think maybe thats why step kick-dash-tornado throw didnt work, not too sure, maybe bisons hard kick comes out quicker. the best option against abel if he step kicks is ex knee press or ex psycho crusher. theyre both airborne so abel cant grab you and thats what most abels are gonna do after a step kick, not the jumping kick trick. most abels online are just roll and tornado throw scrubs ive found. ive yet to lose to a single abel (no, really) while using cammy. but to be fair thats a bad match for abel, he cant really do anything against repeated dive kick pressure or just jumping. i always go off track lol
im not too sure what he did but if you did kick him during the dash motion its because he messud up the timing and dashed too late. im 100% sure that if you step kick-dash you are at a frame advantage. edit: just watched it again. you got a counter hit which means you hit him during the startup of one of his moves, most likely tt. wouldnt put it past that guy to try and wheel kick or recka from that range though, he wasnt too good.
maybe Capcom have update this game with option "upload replay to YouTube" like Touchgrind BMX.....so we dont need DIsplay Recorder and any other tool......
Yes, totally agree with u, I tried training mode but the game variables are do many, it's tough to duplicate. Did u see my cute bison vs. ken.ken? It was a teleport and slams match, lol!
