@ivoloster. soo any tips against fei long? im actually having quite a hard time against him cos his pokes are so good and cammys are so ass. also you cant jump in on him for free like abel or sakura cos of that flame kick. what should i be doing from cammys perspective? also how does he go against sagat? i might have to add fei to my list of 'use sagat' characters. so far i have honda, gief, guile, balrog and dee jay on that list, might put blanka and ryu there too, depending on how my sagat progresses.
My problem against her is usually when they start spamming Cannon Spike immediately after the Drill. The startup on CS is so quick that if I block Drill I can never seem to get a move out that won't get stuffed by CS. I have a tough time with Cammy somehow, but things are always backwards for me. The characters that seem to be my characters' worst matchups are the ones I can destroy and the ones that are supposed to be cake are the ones I have trouble with lol! X_X
if the spiral arrow is spaced properly its safe, so if you try and do anything and they cannon spike youll eat it. im not sure what would happen if you fladsh kick, maybe a trade.
Sagat and Sim are Fei's only hard match ups, a Sagat has to be really solid though to keep Fei out because once he's in Sagat doesn't have too many options to get him back out again. So if you play a Fei, Sagat is a solid option to counter him as long as your keep away game is good. As for the Cammy V Fei match it's all about how the Fei plays. My Fei is a more defensive Fei, others may play him more offensively which would be ideal for Cammy because it would leave them open for her specials. The only times I've lost to Cammy using Fei was when I would play recklessly because of how easy I knew the match up was. Basically what you want to do is use the instant canon spike from a distance to build meter, once you have two or more bars you want to try to mix it up by getting in and doing DP>FADC if blocked>(BNB or Grab or DP) If you manage to get Fei down try to cross him up using jumping med kick then st hp>SA or DP. Most decent Fei's wont wake up flame kick so you want to judge what type of Fei your playing so you know what your safe to do on wake up. Alot of Fei's myself included will try to safely approach using Chicken Wing, Cammy's crouching hard punch can stuff it if timed right otherwise it will trade or cause you to eat the chicken wing so be careful. On the topic of the crouching hard punch, USE IT this and standing kick will be your only useful pokes against Fei. Other than that don't crouch block against Fei unless you have to because Fei has a nasty overhead, also if Fei gets close and doesnt do anything he's either waiting for you to make a mistake or he's going to do his flip grab and land a big damage rekka chain on you so don't get triger happy if he's in your face cause you will pay for it. Finally whatever you do, DO NOT RANDOM DP, Fei's rekkas, ultra, super and chicken wing can all punish your recovery on this. Unfortunately Cammy is not well equipped for this match so just make sure not to be predictable and you could potentially beat Fei.
Yupz that about sums it out. If the game is not laggy, it's usually not a problem for Bison. Was losing many rounds to some Cammies recently but I'd being having a bad spell, so...
So if she does it from farther away is it safer for her or from closer up? Actually, looking at the frame data (and I can't believe I'm actually starting to look at frame data [/nerd] ) FK starts up in 4 frames and CS in 5 and after trying it in training mode, the FK DOES beat out CS depending on what distance the Arrow comes in from. If it's from farther away, the CS and FK trade, but if it's relatively close, FK beats it clean. Not sure why I never tried FK, I guess I just figured it was too risky as it's easily punishable.
@ivoloster well that sucks. do all of these things and you MIGHT beat fei i dunno whether to stick with cammy or not and she cant cross up. her cross up on console is light kick, she only has heavy kick in volt. it has crossed up for me at some really weird angles and timings, but not consistently. she can cross up with hard punch in the corner though, same as ken and whats ur opinion on fei - guile cos i remember a match where mago was playing daigo in super, and daigo changed to guile cos apparently thats a horrible horrible match for ryu. anyway gootecks was commentating saying how bad it is for fei. is it different in volt?
yea that makes sense. but dont try and flash kick if only the tip of her feet hit you cos it will whiff and you wont even be able to fadc
I think it might have been a tough match for Fei in super but not in Volt and not in AE, Guiles options are rather limited and in Volt he can't change his boom timings, and he doesn't have alot of his normals used to keep him out. All Fei has to do is punish one flash kick of Guiles and most Guile players will stop using FK meaning Fei can do whatever he wants on wakeup to Guile because the opponent is too afraid to throw it out and be punished on block. The Guile match up is just a big game of chicken, but Fei has much safer tools to play the game.
@iVoloster you are right, fa deals with arrow attack. but if the game is laggy it's cammys game. btw, i dont know but fei long is one of the easiest matchups so far for my bison, same like akuma. i think i played a lot vs him and always have won, all matches. but it's maybe because so many fei long players dont know what to do.
To be honest the only Bison that ever gave me trouble was FFFan's not to say that it's a easy match up for Fei or Bison but I would say it's rather even as long as you are both on the same skill level. Blanka has the same match up as Honda for Fei not many characters can punish Blanka Fei is one of them that can, I just wait for Blankas to get greedy and punish them for it. Blanka Balls eat Rekkas on block, and slides never were a huge deal because I spend a fair amount of time blocking when Blankas close enough to use it.
I really like cammy's standing kick for a poke. great range, lightning speed. I also like her d+P link d+P link df+P for a nice long blockstring to get you out of command toss range.
Sakura's upper is great for the Sagat-kara-upper range. It's awful for getting someone off you, but if you zone an opponent fullscreen~3/4-screen with her fireballs, and they're airborne at 1/2 screen, they're eating her shooooouken.
Absolutely agree on the anti-air. The best I've done is trade hits, or used shooouken to escape with a bit of lost life. *sigh*
Yeah, the few minutes I spent in Training Mode this morning taught me that. As far as I can tell, her game seems to be bait and punish. Get your opponent to try something then punish it with her quick moves. Is that a fair assumption? Done. But it won't let me see the list for some reason. I applied for permission but haven't heard anything. Also, you have time to play our match this afternoon? I'll be out of town tomorrow so I won't be able to then and Sunday doesn't look good either. I suppose we could also try Monday.
I am pretty confident that, assuming there will be another update, it's not coming too soon. The last one had like a month of build up (along with an official contest that lasted a few weekd) and we haven't even heard a whisper about another one.
