Ok so just putting it out there, the correct term for jumping without attacking is called empty jumping. its good because it reduces your recovery when you land so you can throw straight away or block a super or something like that. Safe jumping is completely different. next time you watch a top player, especially a japanese one play, after he gets an untechable knockdown (ultra, super [but not genei jin], sweep or throw) he'll do a certain move before he jumps. this is for the timing so that the opponent cant reversal him but he can do a blockstring. hard to explain. youtube safe jumps for your character and youll see what i mean. im pretty sure because of game mechanics you cant do a true safe jump, same as how you cant do meaty attacks, which kind of sucks.
Hey guys, Volt is good and all... But I'm considering picking up the SF II collection. Is it just the exact copies from the Capcom Arcade App or have they been altered further ? It sucks there's no New Challengers/Turbo... But I got a nostalgic kick going so if you have the SFII collection, let me know if you think it's worth the 4$
Oh, I hate online play. I've played Volt/SF4 Vanilla for a crazy amount of time and I only play offline. Maybe I'm crazy. Just hate online. So that doesn't bug me. Emulated controls usually are horrible so I'm wondering if they made any further changes in that regard or if they are straight rips of Capcom Arcade games.
I like playing against people, I just don't like SF4 that much. Based on the reviews I read, the Capcom Arcade versions are better, but it looks like they "enhanced" the games for the Collection somehow. One of the pictures had a combo counter on it.
i have it, but not the capcom arcade one so i dont know the differences. its pretty good imo. you can use sp assist or you can do traditional 6 butyon layout, which is cool. to be honest though feels kinda clunky after playing volt for so long. i never played it at arcades or anything, so there was no nostalgia for me, so for me it wasnt worth the $5, but it plays well amd if you played it as a kid i can imagine it would be awesome to go back to those memories. up to you in the end though oh and theres three different versions, but i didnt notice any difference besides characters
Thanks Snooper! I picked it up and HOLY CRAP it's MILE better than the Capcom Arcade Versions. It brings me back to those days as teenager playing SFII where one three hit combo would take 70% of your stamina! Good times. The different versions are you have SFII: World Warrior, wherein you could only play as 8 chars, not the boss characters. Which sucked as a kid. Then there's SFII': Hyper Fighting where they introduced the boss Characters. Then there's SFII': Turbo (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH Super Street Fighter II Turbo, there's no Dee Jay, T Hawk, Cammy or Fei Long in this version) where they introduced Turbo fighting, where you could change the speed of the game (hence the turbo suffix). Yeah... It doesn't feel as tight as Volt. But it's leagues and bounds better than when they first put them out in the Arcade app. And you have access too all three P's and K's making it have the same depth. Although it's harder to adjust coming from Volt. One play through with Guile in World Warrior and it's like I'm 16 again. Great stuff! Things to note (and sorry for bringing this into the Volt thread guys, but if you're a diehard SF fan like me, you really outta look into this collection) there's some weird semi-dip switch things you can add. In the menu before the game you can turn on these options, one is "Fighting Spirit" which makes you take less damage, and the other, well I forget what it's called, but it makes your special moves do way more damage. The sounds... The win quotes ("Go home and be a family man!", "You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance against me!" to name but a few)... Very worth it if you played them and loved them before. Those who only have played perhaps AE/Volt... Might want to stay away. SFII is a different beast. Thanks for the help and opinions guys!
I finally get out of my morning funk, boot up the game, and I end up fighting some 5k bp ranked guy.. -SOD- BatmanOG.- Close game at 1-1, but he whiffs his ultra on my empty jump and ragequits as I punish. So tough to gain BP when everyone above you seems to be quitting.
dont judge my horrible akuma, was just getting pissed off at getting hit by like 20 spds so i wanted to lame gief out haaaate gief vs cammy, such a bad match. still impressed by your blanka, his jump is so quick, so tough to anti air him :S
Don't worry about it. Actually, if you really want to destroy my Gief, Dhalsim does the trick. I don't have Shoryutofu's patience or technical skill - Dhalsim rocks me every time. on another note, didn't you main Bison or Able? I remember you being pretty fearsome with those.
never used bison but i gave up on abel, cammys just better and more fun to use. also abel loses hard to offensive opponents because his anti air is rubbish which just pissed me off.
nice matches mooken. i didnt deserve tht first match with viper, too many uppercuts on my behalf. was pretty happy with my performance against honda though i hate him sooooo much. and that balrog mirror was ridiculous lol. i bodied you first round, you stun me second, i stun you third wtf lol? im thinking of picking up balrog, gotta get all his combos down first though, that was real sloppy :S
took me a few matches to figure out how much lag there was .. "gdamn, work you stupid buttons, work !!!" i have a feeling you've been very accustomed to lag and have worked it into your game .. excellent matches, yes. thanks!
i wish i was good with viper but she just doesnt suit me. shes such a cool character and CRAZY damage
