Haha Jibba I feel like you and I are the same person, except my wife has just come to terms with my love for Street Fighter.
Whoa, hold on. You went from playing SF2 to... SF4??? That's crazy. No, its astonishing considering the level of skills you've acquired. I've been playing since Street Fighter (the first one) and almost every version of it thereafter. My favorite is Street Fighter Alpha 3. So much great memories! Actually, I do know why, but honestly, If they don't play games, then they really don't need to know about it. Plus they just wouldn't understand anyways. Lol, been there done that. Then the boss asked you why you were late.... "Um yea... see there was this accident on the freeway..."
Ok, so i played this guy named -40C/F today - really good blanka player But if i got knocked down, he used the same cross up every time - jump over + kick into crouching kicks Online, it wasn't blockable with Sagat. The crouch block wouldn't register before the low hit came in - I rematched him 3 times just to try and block it - couldn't do it. I would block the high hit, and then the low would get me every time. Has anyone else encountered this?
Same here because at least I can play it on the couch next to her while she watches some Home & Garden TV show, rather than playing a full video game on a TV in my basement, in which case we wouldn't even be on the same floor. She definitely hates my iPhone, but I've convinced her to get one because she does like some of my games (I think I can give them to her for free if we share an iTunes account right?) and has recently become addicted to Words with Friends.
Was there always lag on input the entire match? I think that was it. Playing Snooper, I felt the same way, where I had to do the inputs very early for the game to register my moves.
I honestly didn't even know what SFIV was until I purchased regular SFIV on sale. I obviously knew the basic concepts but only knew the characters from SFII and had no clue what these focus moves, ultras and supers were. Man did those blow my mind. I totally agree on the memories thing. And thanks for the compliment (now if only Capcom could spell it right). Hahaha!! Couldn't have said it better myself. At least I kind of make my own hours and only have to deal with my secretary busting my balls for being late.
not really, the connection was good - it wasn't offline crisp, but id rate it prob about an 8/10 on the online connection scale it was so frustrating, i knew exactly what was coming and i didn't block it one time in 3 matches
I was having significant problems with this when Volt first came out. I bought a new wifi router. All problems solved. Except the addiction at 4am.
Bloody hell all the boys are here...browsing through the thread and recognize tons of names from matches. Greetings gents, quality forum thread you've got going.
Actually I think the match IS in Dhalsim's favor as if Guile messes up too bad, it can be pretty much over because it's really hard to get in against a good Sim player. It's one of Guile's toughest matches for that reason. Im beginning to see that a well placed FADC can make fireballs almost a non-entity. I'm thinking about revisiting Makoto with this in mind. That was always one of my biggest problems with her. Yeah I've played that guy. Got him pretty close one round but got smoked most of the others because like you said, I couldn't block those low kicks. He's a really excelled player though. Used that little skip Blanka can do by moving to the back of a downed opponent and attacking on wakeup. I had another idea yesterday: what if we were to assemble a listing of all the characters and who plays them? Say if someone wanted to work on a certain matchup, we'd have this listing of who to request for matches against said character. And if we find people online who are good but not members here, we can add them to the list and maybe even persuade them to join us here? I don't know if it would be another thread (might be the best idea) or just a Google doc but I thought it might be a valuable resource.
Good game! Just be a little more careful with those sonic booms, since Viper can slide right by them with EX thunder knuckle. And it's easy to see them coming when I see Guile walking backwards.
Good Idea, Doc! I had reached 1000+ usage for Bison finally. Wahahaha... *Insert Bison Laughter here*
Hey Voloster, I guess were set up for this weeks tournament battle I noticed. Let m know when youre ready to play, for me it just depends where im at....I'll be ready within this hour if you are!
Yes, I think Sonic Boom is in theory same as any fireball, quite useless against a good Dhalsim player as they will just teleport away, making Guile lose a big part of his pressure game with the booms. Damn I was watching a lot of Poongko matches @ Evo. If only we can have Seth in SFIV Volt also, that will be the perfect offensive player to replace my Bison... His variety of mix-ups are just impossible, when you wake up you are just GUESSING what he will do, lol...
That's good advice, thanks. I guess it's very rare that I even PLAY a Viper player so I don't always know what to watch for and EX Knuckle is tough to avoid anyway unless you've got some distance between you. We had some really close rounds! Definitely a real nail-biter that one! Actually. quite the contrary, I WANT him to teleport. Him teleporting means he's coming to me which is what I want. If I have to chase him, it means I screwed up and will probably lose. Throwing Booms is just a means to get him to chase me.
