Makoto's standing K is an underrated and underused tool for poking and counterpoking, because of range and speed, and because hayate can be buffered in.

Ryu's cr.hk is a very reliable normal to punish stuff on whiff.

The problem with volt is that buffering specials in light normals is not so reliable (the special just comes out if done a tiny bit too slow). In perfect conditions Blanka's st.lp is also fantastic, as for now it is very good in some matchup.

EDIT: Yeah I know that buffering specials is not a necessary condition for a good poke, but it's a good plus.

with yun i like to far mk,
with chun-li and sim any normal is a poke,
with Makoto i agree with omar using the st.mk, but st.mp is a good anti air and a good poke cause its fast, cr.hk for far away opponents or gief,
I dont poke with fei much,
    Sakura is that awesome st.hk,
With Vega i use that st.hk and that god like cr.mp.

Hmmm, not much goin on around here :/.

I'm down to play anyone( even if I get complete raped etc :/)

Ok everyone list the characters they use?

    Main 3

    Yun
    Ryu
    Cody

Can use but not as good probly

    Fei-long
    Sagat
    Blanka

    Can use kinda :/

    Ken
    Dhalsim
    Akuma

    Least favorite match-ups

    - Zangeif ( with anyone)
    -Bison
    - Blanka/Cammy/ Honda

Have no idea how to play whatsoever( everyone :/ nah jk )

    Vega
    C.viper
    Boxer
    Chun-li
    Abel

Ok, so in guessing most of y'all can play every character so just pick the ones u use most I guess

Finnaly I list characters hampered by Volts engine to the point where good defensive possibly spammy play etc.. Just makes them completely inferior

Yun.. I dunno about #1 but he really needs to be played offensively most of the time constantly linking attacks into comboes etc..

Sakura - uhh I dunno, I like that she has alot of specials/ a unique focus . She's still generally weak though and doesn't have a very realiable projectile game...

Makoto - I don't feel like she benifets that much, sure she has a unique style but any basic defensive style character probly wins out... Or in her case just alot of projectile spam

Chun-li - she is a unique character I dunno of she'd be better off with a non charge projectile like she has in some other games? I think her Ultra should connect better.

Dhalsim - I like his unique fighting style I wish he just a bit faster in the air.

Ken - ok his shryuken maybe all broken and great but it doesn't really matter if he doesn't have enough other good options( some ok things but generally nothing compares to his shoryuken)

Anyways 3 characters aren't charge characters and hold up really good ( Sagat, Cammy and Fei-long)

I dunno I'd say Fei-long is pretty easy to use and good.. Without projectiles and with-out being to spammy.. His d,f a is quick, fairly strong and easy to catch opponents off guard. While his backwards showryueken kick thing is pretty good Id say his other kick special(the lunging froward thing) is what probly actually makes him pretty good? Covers space mutli- hit potential etc... I've had it spam on me to the point where it really had me guessing)

Uhh Sagat and Cammy are pretty obvious I'd say Sagat has best projectiles, reach, 2 great anti air moves... A great F breaker etc... Cammy benefits from easy to execute specials that are surprisingly fast( probly too fast) that also connect into her Super or ultra (may both not sure)

Well as far as characters go u guess there's only really one other main type the grabbers...being Abel Zangeif and sort of e.honda)

In some ways I think they are even more problematic ( but probly not if your comparing to against Dic. And Blanka).

I'd say only Honda because he also has other defensive moves is a bit too OP)

I guess Abel is alright probly could benifit from some form of upgrade?

An Zangeif I have no Idea really cuz I just suck against him no matter what...

Ok so lets list fair character Imo -

    Ryu
    Fei
    Vega
    Abel
    Guile
    Viper?

    (Maybe slightly too good?)

    Akuma?
    Boxer
    Honda

    (Then slightly too bad)

    Ken
    Chun-li

Meh.. That's good enough (keep in mind coming from me etc.. :/)

I dunno it kinda wasnt that big a deal till I tried endlessly tying to beat someone with yun( the character I'd been practicing from the beginning) and could never do it. Then I switch over to Blanka or Sagat and win easily...

I think that's proof enough... (Shame cuz if they actually tried I think they probly could make the game alot more balanced but they've kinda stopped caring I guess?)

I could've sworn your second main was Bison.

Let's say mine are Blanka and Guile, tough I pretend Rog is too.
    Makoto is my fun pick.

Nuckeldu revived my interest in the slicer recently, trying to be more dynamic since.
I found this pic from Jap. Doesn't jab-jab-jab capture the essence of SF?

I play most of the cast. It's only E Honda who I have no idea how to vortex with and I have no idea how to play him.

I swear in Volt, people don't understand how nice the developers were with jabs compared to AE. in AE, for Ryu to do cr.LP x3, srk, he has to chain the first 2, link the 3rd then can cancel into srk or chain 3 and link into srk.

In Volt we can chain jabs and cancel a chained jab into a special.

This is "bad habit #1" of a list of 100 when transferring skills from Volt to console.
Directly followed by holding down+forward for crouching hard normals

Yo, can we open a thread somewhere else on how to beat tenonez? Something that he can't see?
First topic could be "how to avoid divekicks pressure" or something like that. :(

    Vs Tenonez Flowchart

Step 1: let him come to you so you can punish his mistakes
Step 2: Oh shit that didnt work im caught in a blockstring, DP!!!!!!
Step 3: get punished by Tenonez for your desperate DP, Vortex Coming
Step 4: DP!!!! Blocked or Block > tenonez uses command grab, put you iphone on the table let him finish.

There are no other alternatives to this flowchart

We should make a tournament, everyone vs tenonez FT3, but unfortunately lots of people will have problems with ios versions and the game disconnecting.
    I would stream it!!!

Step 1: better hold your ground with footsie
Step 2: stay out of his range or u will be beaten as a scramble egg
Step 3: counter poke and maintain distance
Step 4: well sometimes u might win one.

I main Honda, normally I use EX headbutt to attack but with TenOnez I just use it to escape the heat. His Yun dive kick and mix ups are crazy better chance staying on the ground with safe distance.

Who wants to play ??? I'm tired of laggy people and amatuers

Turns out I never ever won one. Even the few times I have a good round, the next one he adjusts and reads me.
Seriously, I noticed two main problems against Tenonez's Yun:

    1) Dealing with divekick pressure, for example
1a) the divekick crossup that takes the charge away and
1b) the launcher jump cancel into divekick.

    2) Defending from the trap st.lp into command grab. In particular he either reads or reacts to both jumps and backdashes after the st.lp, punishing both. Is there an os that I don't know about or is it just reactions?

All scenarios potentially lead to a good damage combo and, unfortunately, an awful lot of stun.

Also, for many characters all normals feel terribly slow compared to Yun's st.lp and counterpoking to maintain distance becomes a nightmare. I'm not implying that Yun is broken, just saying that he looks broken in his hands.

I knew you wanted to ultra the headbutt meant to chip you down, but I couldn't resist testing your reaction. :)
Also, I'm sick of meaty spirals and cammy being a fast holy sh!t grappler.
