Thanks for the games HQ . I think I almost won once :/. Thanks for thoroughly raping me... Any advice? I kept wanting to slow down the match, but I just couldn't :/ (I dunno if u know what I mean?)
We stopped for a variety of reasons. It was fun but it was getting tiring and some weeks turnouts were very low. My general comment from our set, is that less is more. You obviously have some idea of combos, but there's no need to also be pressing buttons. On the flip side, know which buttons of yours have good invincibility and are good 'get off me' moves (shoryukens etc). It sounds like you are getting flustered in the heat of battle. One good tip is that back dashes have invincibility frames, so it's s good way (but not foolproof) to diffuse a situation after being knocked down
Thanks, for the matche Tenones, I'm sorry icouldnt do anything against ur Feilong :/.... I've only been playing like a month so :/ ... Anyways it was awesome to play you. Pretty much everything I've learned about Yun so far has come from ur videos.. I saved a few to go over them... Hopefully I can get better :/ (The stuff below was to towards HarlequinRogue who also raped me :/) Our matches went way too fast... While its obvious uve got loads of experience on me, I don't feel like I was able to learn :/.... Not saying you should go easy on me but you have to understand I just started :/ Like when I played BirthdayIcecream(evanscent I think?) our matches went alot slower and even though I lost most of those too I felt like I could learn a bit better.. But i understand if your style is beat me as fast as you can..:/ So..even though I feel like I've gotten better with Yun...it kinda didn't matter cuz i couldn't stop ur relentless onlsaughts.. Plus his low health and whtv.. You never really let me get in the "heat" I guess But, I'd rather you go full on than hold back.. I'll get better eventually, I dunno maybe I need another character to play... I'd like someone whose more defensive..except I suck with charge type charters..:/ That's why I was thinking Cody but I guess he's not that good? Makoto looks too hard to learn..:/ Maybe C.viper or Cammy?
I was actually trying to push you to play footsies. Some matches in fact I was purposely only using normals to try and poke you but you were just pushing buttons. Cody is on the harder side. I think any shots or any character with a dp is fine place to start
Ok so I just got this game, and I was wondering if there were any tips and tricks that I should know before playing online.
I understand.. It's just i guess I'm not on that level yet :/. I didn't even know that :/(just pushing buttons?) by Footsies you mean like standard poking attacks? I guess your just able to capitalize through me no matter what I dunno... I'm try to study my loses :/ I dunno I've only been playing seriously for I guess a month? It sucks cuz almost everyone I play has been playing for years probly and used characters probly in older versions of street fighter that transfer over. I played like SF2 turbo just for fun I guess :/ with Ryu. I used ken in alpha but only for fun( I felt good when I finnaly beat Bison/Dictator on hard) never played 3rd strike or 4 besides this... So ya In terms of other fighting games...I use to play Melee(smash bros) semi-competively for awhile (but wasnt that good) The only onther fighting game I've played with other actual people is Soul Calibur. I used Maxi (nunchuku guy) I've played Kof and used the drunk guy (and terry/ whoever) and was pretty good with him against other players online(but only played a few people).. My favorite fighting game ever is probly Gundam Wing Endless Duel for Snes(Japan only) also DBZ Hyper Dimension was cool.. Both games I wanna say we're pretty much street fighter based :/ The GW game especially I feel like could've been a great competive game. (Look it up if you haven't heard of it it's really good and unique) And that's pretty much it... Sorry for rambling
Well, unless you've played other versions of Sf4 or SF in general competively be prepared to loose..if not you should probly get the hang of it.. If you wanna play me sometime - Lcb 12321 Sorry DP
Not so much tips and tricks, but I thoroughly recommend doing the trials. By pushing buttons, I mean it feels like that a lot of the time you are trying to do something rather than just blocking. On that note, are you using Autoblock and SP on? You should use it while you are learning. Footsies is hard to describe. I would say it's about knowing spacing and your options and putting that into a coherent game. Skills from other fighting games are definitely transferable too
Doing the trials and playing a bit of arcade to get the feeling of the characters should be a must before diving into online.
I say play against the computer until you can beat the game without continuing and then up the difficulty level and repeat. However, when you play the computer, you shouldn't be playing just to win but rather to learn from the CPU and then trying to mimic the tricks the CPU uses. For example, on the most difficult setting the CPU does a great job of safe jumping and countering, it also does a good job at countering button mashing and it forces you to be more deliberate in your moves as opposed to button mashing. When you are able to play against someone online and not mash you will be ready for the next level of your game.
CPU doesn't safe jump or counter. They just punish whiffed moves. I guess playing against grueling CPU is good to learn not to press buttons, but there's a limit how much you can learn from it
I'm sorry Harlequin, I got home late. >.> we can play tomorrow evening. Not sure what time that is for you..
I guess I just don't consider it punishing whiffed moves when the CPU pulls off a move at the exact same time you press a button. And the CPU has definitely done a safe jump on me before. And yes there is a limit you can learn from playing the CPU, but the point is that when you can start beating the CPU you will also be able to be most players online.
You shouldn't try to learn anything from the CPU though. My bad habit of FA-ing a lot came from playing a lot of arcade.
I've been hearing in a video from a guy "there are some people that have a particular inclination for charge characters". This made me think the following question: do you? Also, it seems that after the original's champion edition the ratio of charge/non-charge characters has been steadly decreasing. The last notable exception was Decapre, but they made her a non-charge character in omega anyway. Should we start a petition to protect charge chars???
Execution wise, a lot of charge characters are very similar. SF4 made it even easier for charge characters with charge buffering. Volt makes it even easier, but that hasn't really been broken yet. However, the hardest thing for charge characters is Flash Kick, FADC, U2 or Deejay's EX MGU, (dash forward) U1 Nowadays, I don't mind playing any character, but I still have a tendency towards charge characters. Though, due to the limited motions, there isn't much you can do with new charge characters. They all have a flash kick motion reversal, and either a projectile sonic boom style, or a move that moves forward
