Ok, but I don't see the point of calling them 2.5D then, because they play exactly like a 2D game. The game engine works always with only two coordinates in both KOF and SF4. My (personal) definition is better: In SF EX akuma could teleport on the side and it was one of the few, if not the only move, that involved the 3rd dimension. This i'd call 2.5D. Also, according to the wiki, would the old KI be 2.5D or 2D? It used 3D models, but that were pre-rendered at the production stage, and later included in the actual game (so the rom itself used always only 2D images). The same was done for KOF which you'd undubtedly call 2D, because all sprites are refined snapshots of a 3D character model (nobody fully draws all sprites anymore). [From the tone it looks like i'm up for an argument but that's not the case. Hope i don't sount too much of an a$$]
lol no worries. You could just see 2.5D as a graphics subcategory of 2D games. Games with 2D gameplay that use 3D graphics. With some people only liking fighting games with sprites and others more interested in 3D graphics I think it's a needed subcategory. KoF XIII is 2D. Even if they used 3D models to make the sprites, SNK's goal was to make 2D sprites. Now about KI... I wouldn't call it 2.5D either. For me a 2.5D game needs to use real 3D models instead of prerendered stuff, at least for the characters. I wouldn't call Marvel vs Capcom 2 2.5D either for example. The main reason I like wikipedia's way of categorizing the fighting games is that the anime category actually makes sense since those games are just fighting games adaptations of anime. I never understood what makes Persona and Guilty Gear "anime". Some people say that it's because air-dashing is very important in those games, but then it would make more sense to call them "air-dashers" instead of anime, because anime there doesn't describe anything.

Yes, this is true. Idk really. To me the anime definition sort of makes sense (meaning there is a subcat. of games playing in a similar way that I can identify), but in fact the "properties" like air-dashing have really nothing to do with being anime. Marvel has it. So I agree that it makes sense to have such cathegory.
That was a cool-ass video. I remember when he posted some of that stuff and we were like, "O_O" and then he told us his dirty little secret. xD
Let's say he mostly holds back. I have no right of blaming his impossible blockstrings, since i too use sp on.
