You Yun reset was EX Palm, FADC, cr.MP, shoulder. Much meter.

Yun's shoulder in Volt has a crappy hitbox so you can't get any weird crossover or meaty stuff.

Currently the best resets for Yun I'm looking at would be doing a grounded Genei Jin combo then doing normals, hopkick, command grab into whatever

    You can also do meterless
Back mid kick, dive kick whiff, cr.mp, shoulder (crossunder) mid screen
    Just found out

Part of improving is going to the lab, playing online and watching replays.

Sometimes it helps just to take a break to not get bogged down in the salt mines

I tried the same thing from the replay in training mode with Super instead of Ultra and Ken starts looking at the wrong direction during the screen freeze, but in the next frame he switches places with Vega and it actually hits him.

Have you seen Nash's glitch video?

He has Vega falling out of Makoto Ultra

When I found that glitch yesterday the first thing I did was watching that video again because I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with his st.HK, but it didn't, so it was most probably another different glitch.

I don't counterpick unless the opponent is a douchebag and deserves to lose.

I generally just pick whatever I feel like

    Bison Matchups
    Ryu: 5.5-4.5
Slightly in Bison's favour but may be close to even. I will note Bison's air hitbox means that aa srk, FADC is not a reliable aa punish.
    Sagat: 5.5-4.5
Sagat is a big and slow target for headstomps, and his uppercut has less range than other shotos.
    Sakura: 6-4
    Possibly worse for Sakura.
    Vega: 6-4
Giant clown feet are easy to stuff Vega's moves and EX moves with huge invincibility frames eat Vega's frame traps. Backflips are also easy to chase down.
    Yun: 4.5-5.5
Squall tells me this is in Yun's favour. I guess when Bison has no meter, Yun has good vortex.
    Zangief: 6-4
s.HK is a pretty damn good tool here, being a poke and aa all in one. Teleport gets you out of jams quite well.

    Ryu Matchups
    Sagat: 4.5-5.5
Quite even, but Sagat's damage puts him over the top.
    Sakura: 6-4
    Sakura gets easily dominated.
    Vega: 5.5-4.5
Ryu's fireball is safer than most other shotos, so Vega's cheese isn't as effective.
    Yun: 5.5-4.5
I think since TenOnez starting playing Yun, he (Yun) has risen up in my ranks. Not too bad, apart from Yun's terrible stamina.
    Zangief: 5.5-4.5
You can zone gief out, but it is gief...

    Sagat Matchups
    Sakura: 6.5-3.5
'Best' character vs 'worst' character? Oddly, I don't think this is even the worst matchup in Volt.
    Vega: 4.5-5.5
Kevin (3chorddork) believes this is in Vega's favour so I'll defer to his opinion. Again, Sagat is a slow, large target, but his damage output is huge.
    Yun: 7-3
Holy crap is this bad. Shoulder through fireballs? Eat random button. Oh you did a 700 damage combo with Yun? Eat DP FADC Ultra and just die.
    Zangief: 7.5-2.5
If not better. s.HK in this matchup is probably the single worst normal in a single matchup. Zangief has to grind in with cr.MK to edge forward. The vortex is real, but Zangief can't even jump or focus his way in.

    Sakura Matchups
    Vega: 4-6
Sakura's focus is quite good against Flying Barcelona due to the reduction in height. But Vega's frame traps are quite strong here with Sakura's lack of a dp.
    Yun: 4.5-5.5
Both characters are combo monsters. I feel that Yun's combos do a lot of stun, but are also a lot more consistent.
    Zangief: 4-6
Sakura needs to zone with s.HK. Tough but not impossible

    Vega Matchups
    Yun: 4.5-5.5
Yun's pressure and ability to chase down backflips is too good.
    Zangief: 4-6
Charge character with no fireballs. That's pretty much it.

    Yun Matchups
    Zangief: 7-3
Yun is shaping up to be an alright character but his polarising matchups like this are just terrible. Lariat pretty much beats anything Yun can do. Of note, SPD beats meaty palms in range and priority.

All matchups should be done here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I5c8D7BQ9sku5lMrMVQXDMegV-9rQXRoyrYalkxnMNE/edit#gid=0

Zangief vs Ryu should be 6-4 on ryu's favor that st.hk!!
Bison vs Yun should be pretty even. Its kind of hard for yun to get in unless he gets a knockdown.
    I agree with the rest

    @Harle
I know what variance is but why is sakura 2nd? Just because her matchups are almost all the same number?

    Ranking Discussion
If we split it into 3 rough tiers, Top, Average and Bottom, it's no surprise That Sagat, Cammy, C Viper, Guile, Bison and Ryu are top tier. I am surprised that Cammy is so high up.

As I mentioned with Yun, I believe since TenOnez has aggressively mained Yun, he has risen (at least in my eyes) higher up and has become a more respectable character. I believe this is also due to a eta shift away from mashing DP on wakeup.

Bottom tier would be DeeJay, Dhalsim, Cody, Chun, Makoto, Abel and Sakura. I am surprised that Abel is apparently as bad as Sakura in the bottom tier.

Tab 3 has a graph of the rankings. What is interesting is that it is quite linear with an large dropoff between C. Viper and Cammy.

What is most surprising is that Gief is upper mid tier. The only way I can reconcile this is that theoretical matchups like this take into account perfect connection and perfect play. However, online there is lag and links are not reliable. Zangief would be the saltiest online match (I punished that!! etc etc). Of note, Fei Long/Honda who are ranked 12th/13th respectively have average scores of 5 and 4.9 so there is some balance (median is close to mean)

    Variance Discussion
No surprise that Ryu has the least variance in matchups ranging from 4-6. Sakura surprisingly seems consistently bad across the board (3.5-5). Zangief has the largest variance (2.5 to 7).

    Takeaways
Want to tier whore? Pick Ryu or Cammy. Want to consistently struggle with your bottom tier character and blame tier whores? Pick Sakura, DeeJay or Cody. Want to be randomly bad? Pick Dhalsim. Randomly good? Pick Guile or Blanka.

Let me know if you have any discussion points. If you disagree with absolutely anything or want some more stats! Personally I feel some matchup numbers should be revised. I don't think Akuma vs Gief is necessarily the worst matchup, for example

Sakura is bad against everyone. No DP/1f invincible reversal, hard combos that don't do much damage, bad super, bad stamina...

I don't really like Ryu's s.HK. It's slow and goes over crouching. Zangief vortex is also quite good against Ryu due to slow walk speed.

Bison vs Yun, I don't think it's that hard for Yun to get in. I mean, you have to play footsies against that huge s.HK, but you have a divekick. So assuming equal footsies skill, Yun should always have the upperhand on approaching or least better than other characters due to his dive kick
