Well, since I purchased USF4, even though I said months ago I probably wouldn't, I've been trying Rolento out a bit. Having a bit of fun with his shenanigans.
You had to block both sweeps (they weren't a blockstring) and you couldn't punish in between. It was annoying, if not OP.
Interesting. Looking at frame data, every turn punch starting at level 4 is horribly unsafe (-8 and up) on hit. Never knew. Quick test in volt reveals they are super unsafe starting at level 6. Sagat can ultra punish on hit.
Do you guys reckon Capcom will release a new Street Fighter iOS game to coincide with the release of Ultra Street Fighter IV?
Not a single word about USFIV for iOS here. But anyway, I highly doubt they will release an iOS port or an update to Volt.
even nintendo says they're going to concentrate on mobile or something. On another note, somebody some time back realized that with up+forward or up+back it is possible to avoid command normals. Apparently it is a feature of the engine as it is so on the console too, and is made on purpose.
Yeah that was me. It works in console due to pre-jump frames being cancellable. But it is just hard coded into volt
Thoughts about characters that have an easy 1 bar link to ultra? That typically works from normals: e.g. EX Zesshou Hohou, Ultra (Yun) ex Tatsu/EX Fireball, Ultra (Ryu, corner) ex rekka, Ultra 1 (Rolento) ex hands, Ultra 1 (Decapre, Corner) Seeing it in Ultra makes me feel like it's pretty cheap, but it seems like a lot of characters have it. I know for me personally, I win way too many matches I shouldn't with random ex Zesshou Hohou, Ultra with Yun
There are even cheaper options, but it's part of the metagame I guess. It is only a bit sad for the few characters that miss these shenanigans.
meterless links to ultra are kinda obscure and hard to setup. Technically balrog and guile in USF4 can link LP to ultra, but it's not reliable. And for all the ken and akuma being able to link into U2, I never see it done in a real match.
EX Zesshou Hohou, Ultra def frustrates me when I play against Yun. It's different than the other moves, and thus OP/cheap because: (a) huge range (b) safe on block (c) it's only 2 hits, so ultra is not scaled very much (d) works midscreen It would be more fair if you took any one of those things away from it, but when you add it all together, you have a WIN button for Yun. People say it has slow startup, but I've always had a tough time reacting to it.
In AE 2012 (and probably also in USFIV, but I can't test it) EX Lunge Punch, Ultra is character specific. Not sure if that would be too much of a nerf in Volt. I don't have any problem with Yun doing that though.
