I just can't play on controllers, so I got a madcatz stick. Concerning the quality of the stick, I very much think that it is better not to buy a cheap one. Before the madcatz TE, I got a cheap hori for few bucks but it was a complete waste of moneys. Especially because the buttons are not sanwa's. I was also looking forward to the hitbox arcade sticks as an intriguing concept. BTW, the hitbox guys have a lot of videos exploiting the shortcuts input mechanics of SF4 which are pretty cool to see. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHWmIRjSRFmGLn8S1wjvQzQ However, many shortcuts are taken off from volt: df,d,df,P counts as srk motion, but f,df,f,P does not, nor does df,n,df,P making Viper's cr.hp into ex seismo easier than, say, Ryu's standing punch into srk.
If you want to play at an arcade you can only play on the cabinet and the cabinets are 100% sticks. On console or PC you can play with a controller. There are Pro players that play on a controller. Its also a question of taste. In my case i have small hands and a controller is very hard to the point it hurts my hands and fingers so a stick i my prefered choice for comfort.
Oh Varo, 2 things: Sakura super resets on air hit and im gonna use one of your Akuma combos in my next vid (ill credit you though)
I'm having some problems with the inputs with the PS3 controller (getting down instead of down-forward etcetcetc), so I thought about getting one of those arcade sticks, but after looking at the prices I think I will keep using the PS3 controller At least those resets-that-shouldn't-happen don't kill combos that much compared with Shen's EX Fukkogeki resetting in KoF-i 2012. I hate that thing. And sure, no problem. Thanks for the credit. In that video I used EX Demon Flip for the Palm/Zanku combo and Zangief for the Tatsu/Zanku combo. You can use normal Demon Flip instead of EX and the other combo works with any character (probably except Makoto, Yun and some other chars with small hitbox). I was getting tired of recording it so I made them easier by doing that since it was a silly combo video anyway. Akuma isn't the only character who can do this kind of stuff though. As long as two attacks with different properties hit on the same frame things like that can happen. psxsquall did that with Guile's Sonic Boom and cr.HK in his combo video. Dhalsim for example can hit at the same time with Yoga Fire and Sliding Kick without causing a hard knockdown, but he can't continue the combo even as CH. Probably you already know that, but I haven't seen this thing being used that much. I'm sure some silly combos can be done from this, but I don't have the time nor the patience to find them.
Did you guys ever play a user with nick M CUONG or something like that with apostrophes too? He has a very good Guile, but I'm starting to get suspicious on his corner pressure since it happens to lag always in between his normals when I have to execute an ex reversal or block. Definitely not sure though, but it's worth checking out. Probably I'm wrong...
I am familiar with those. Chun and DJ can do it, but can't do much after. M Cuong is from vietnam and (used) to hate psxsquall. His connection is pretty bad, but at least that team has cleaned up their trash talking act. The whole team plays Guile and Bison quite similarly.
Madcatz was selling some pretty good controllers with 2 shoulder buttons and 6 face buttons. Fightpad was the name, I found one for 10 euro on ebay. It is kind of ok, especially for the old sf2 where you don't have to press too many buttons simultaneously. That Akuma stuff was neat. A similar thing occurs in the new KI (maybe is already patched) and Vesper exploited it to get 6 ultra combos with orchid. The game limits the number of ultras by forcing the last one to be an ender, but Orchid can connect a projectile in the exact frame of the ultra and takes off the ender property.
His Bison is not the best. He plays a decent Sagat too. Now that you say it, probably I played some other members too.
Too bad it wasn't Capcom pushing it. LG was the one sponsoring the tournament to promote their mobile device. My #1 fan!!!
This guy is not even worth mentioning. He is the kind of dude that would tell his friend to send you gamecenter requests on another device while fighting you. Or ask for a rematch and give another player his gamecenter id *cough* PV *cough* to fight you and then say it was him to just to prove he is better than you.
They aren't so bad anymore. He used to upload his wins after I beat him 4-2 or something and say I was easy to beat
CO-INCIDENTALLY when ever I play those Vietnamese or Thai players, when ever I activate Genei Jin or about to land a big combo or something, things just go really laggy oh yea most of them would go for characters like Guile, Bison or Zangief... characters which are invincible-tier when the game is laggy lol
Yep, I have two of them: A Madcatz Round 2 TE and a Hori Real Arcade Pro V3. The thing about sticks, you can use them for other games as well, not just Street Fighter or fighting games in general. Using sticks, with emulators, can give you the best arcade experience you can possibly have at home on a multitude of games. Also, I would say to wait for a sale in order to get a really good stick for a good price. Hori and Madcatz have big sales at different times of the year, especially around the EVO tourney. Also, many fighting game tournaments have special codes that can take up to 20% off the total price if you watch the streams. If you stay patient, you can get a good, quality stick for $100. They recently had the Injustice stick for about $40 at Gamestop, I believe, and they put the ad on the front page of SRK. The only time I would say to get a cheap stick is if you're going to mod it with quality parts and just want a cheap base to start with. It's worth the investment because it can save you a lot of headache in the end.
Side scrolling games like Final Fight are great. My only complaint on the TE round 2 is that it is HUGE. Bigger than the ps3. In retrospective, i'd go for the TE S or the same Hori that you have. Avoid the Hori Tekken 6 limited wireless and similar, unless you plan to replace the buttons. I'd also go for a cabled model. The wireless ones drain batteries rather quickly and there is that horrible period when you lose response because the battery is dying.
In "challenges" with Ken: in any combo ending with srk, try fadc the first hit after the ko, it is possible to juggle with hk. Instead in normal training: corner fa lv2 wait to crumpling, tatsu fadc srk (1st hit) fadc can't seem to be juggled with hk. Similar stuff with Cody's hp. What's wrong with the juggle counter after the ko?
Fa crumple, wait, ex srk, fadc, st.hk Edit: My assumption is the first hit of srk doesnt juggle you so he was grounded before the KO. Srk has bad juggle points compared to ex And on that combo you started off with tatsu so gotta coubt that
If a move would KO someone and is grounded, juggle points are reset. When not online, you can't perform dashes or special/super/ultra moves, but you can Focus and do normals and move
What games should I add to a combo video about mobile fighting games? Games like Soul Calibur and MvC2 are exact ports so there's little reason to show combos in those games, but there aren't many FG in the AppStore that aren't exact ports or just original. I can only think of Volt, SFxT, KoF-i 2012, Kinetic Damage and... that's about it. Fright Fight doesn't have a proper combo system and I didn't like that much Cool Clash (I only tried the free version). Then there's that Soul Calibur knock-off by Gameloft, but I didn't try it. Does anyone here know any other iOS fighting game?
