Notes: had a lot of input errors on my end, in this really upsetting random ultra from viper. takes a lot to get me started on actually hitting things and remember how to use viper's buttons (and sometimes I never do, and harq owns me with double ps) You're really good! Lost three matches ft3rounds, with Cammy and Sak and... I don't even remember who was the first one I played, basically got blown up, oh it was Yun because I don't know how to play those chars xD Played Viper, lost miserably in the first round because jeez she's not a street fighter char. Won four in a row then lost three in a row. I kept going for shenanigans with the EXTK, and as Harq has shouted at me (at least I imagine it to be a shout xD) about just using EX burn and the one time I did, it worked. >_> Greatest Hits: FFF: 0. (three tries) Boo, I suck. EX Seismo xx Burn -> Ultra: 1 EX TK xx Ultra: 2 Seismos: enough to take 14? rounds. Burn Kicks: roughly the same as seismos Feints: like, 10 times as many as any other move, including an EX feint that baited literally nothing and just wasted meter. Accidents: One random mid screen ultra because I had been too twitchy to actually get a clean EX seismo out >_> At least 4-5 j.mks instead of burn kicks when I tried to do them manually (easier to count the crossup timings from distances, imo) Oh I also missed a punish on Akuma's chip shoryu that didn't manage to kill. More than once. ==== Things I'm pleased with: I think we had 2-3 times the number of teched grabs as actual grabs, which is pretty cool
Fei is so average in this game. Unfortunately, average doesn't cut it. I feel like he is 45% vs everything
Fei would've been much better with either his standing jab (LP) or standing strong (MP). I would've preferred either of them over his standing fierce (HP).
The prob with Fei is the PRECISION he needs. Besides human error (unintended stand fierce that misses), his performance is just so lag dependent. His b n b links start with the light pokes, but lag can bugger up the links easy.. It's unlike the shotos who have SOOO much reaction time for their d+K hit confirms.. When Fei can't link his poke combos, he's nothing.. Plus he has such lengthy miss animation that makes you pay for making mistakes: - miss stand fierce coz wanted to throw, or opponent too far for uppercut - get tenshin miss animation for messing up an EX chicken wing - get accidental flame kick coz double tapped crouch when the intent was a chicken wing. Makoto's and Yun's missed animation isn't so easy to stumble on like Fei.. YEAH Fei is AVERAGE in Volt.. Kills mashers and FB addicts, that's it...
I still think he's got huge potential though. EX tenshin isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, he can obviously do that back-and-forth rekka dance that he's so famous for (thx mago). And he's still got really nice high-low okizeme and that unstoppable horizontal pressure because his FA is godlike. Rekkas look like they can get under air fireballs, focus attacks kill shotos, rekka punishes blanka balls and headbutts, focus attacks kill Viper and Cammy. The only real problem I see him having is probably vs. grapplers and maybe a good Mak or a good Cody. And Guile, maybe. Also, hit confirming chickenwing into anything is stupid dmg. Flame kick is godlike vs. shenanigans, and rekkas/cr.hp pokes are just too strong. Also, if st.hp doesn't whiff, you can rekka x1 to make it a million times safer, or EX rekka x2 to make it a true blockstring. Also while st.hp seems to really blow on a whiff, it's a viable CH option because it's got great great great startup and a CH st.hp can be a real partystarter, so to speak.
Fei prob is the grapplers. Take your pick.. Guile DJ can also murder him if he does not corner trap them..Sagat just needs an FADC combo to kill any Fei hope... The rakka damage is a joke. It's the stand fierce that really makes the rakka combo look good. Otherwise 3x rakka on their own is a joke.. A crouching fierce does almost as much damage as 3x rakkas !! His FA is great for range.. It just sucks up close coz it can pass thru and miss up close jump ins by the opponent. The hit confirm on the chicken wing into stand fierce IS TIGHT !! Unless I get all 3 chicken wing hits, I just flame kick any chicken wing hits. The timing to combo into stand fierce after chicken hit CHANGES and IS TIGHT !! Oh and his Ultra is as useless as his FA is good.. It's too situation specific.. I only reliably get it from a crumple. It's too big a gamble to use on a hopefully whiffed sweep..
I just frauded a win out of Tenonez with Raging Demon against his Cody. Then, made it to the 5th round vs. his Akuma in a mirror with the use of Super. Yeesh. Took 2 rounds against his Sak with Abel, in which I just went crazy, but I basically lost 13 rounds straight with a bunch of perfects (including really embarrassingly bad Viper play on my part after he got a read on me with Yun, I think I took a total of 2 rounds with Viper against him total) 14 - 1 Lost 7? games with Viper vs. Yun, lost a game with Cammy, one with Fei. Lost a game with Ryu vs. his Fei, lost 2 games with Sak, lost a game with Abel, won????! a game with Akuma, lost an Akuma mirror. ==== Things with potential: 1. Looking deeper into the good use of seismo blockstrings. 2. Ryu's shakanetsu is SO hard to react to, but Daigo's told us that already. 3. Maybe I should main Akuma because Super. And because cr.hp is SO good. 4. Using the Japanese voices, because once you do, you can never go back.
Actually, slrc claims a weakness for Fei when he plays Guile. But he's a scrub so I don't ever share the same opinions as him. The problem with Fei is that he's fair. He has EX Chicken Wing to beat projectiles, he can do Shienkyaku, FADC, Ultra. But in Volt, fair doesn't cut it. If you compare him with Ryu, Ryu has Tatsu to beat fireballs, a better FADC, Ultra, a better uppercut, a better overhead...
@JonathanLUNG Akuma doesn't even need the cr.HP or the Super to be good, although they are. Unless you want matches to be fun, something very difficult in Volt anyway with almost everyone picking Sagat and some other lame chars, spamming gohadoukens (and some zankus from time to time) is enough. Fireball fight? Shakunetsu. You only have to be careful with chars like Abel and Chun when they have the Ultra ready and that's all. At wake up most of the time you can just teleport unless you see the opponent playing footsies. A runaway Akuma is tough for anyone who doesn't understand that match up, because with a character with so many ways to escape pressure you just can't wait till he's next to corner to say that he's already defeated. Characters without fireballs can't do much against him. BTW does anyone here have SFxT (PC/console)? Is the netcode that bad or it's just a performance/random error that I'm getting? I'm seeing people teleporting and getting hit in one frame and hitting me in the next one. I lost to a noob who was only jumping in and using a sweep because I couldn't even see it coming, and I can't even hitconfirm into a launcher or any other thing. It's the worst netcode I've seen since SSBB, and that says QUITE a lot.
Which ones specifically? Like Seismo-jc-Seismo? I find that when I start to Seismo people, that's when I win. You know you can't trust a word that comes Out of Leonel's mouth. XD You kind of have to play the middle ground with Guile vs Fei. If you're too Boom-happy, you're going to eat FAs and flip kicks, if you're too aggressive and the player's FA game is tight (like Volo's was) you could be setting yourself up for for FA abuse. xT is supposed to have the best netcode Capcom's ever produced according to some guys over at SRK. I have a dirty copy of the PC version so I've never played it online but I dont think I've ever heard anyone utter a bad word about it. Maybe check your settings?
