I trust Combofiend. Not only is he super smart and knows a bunch of tech, he actually plays and wins tournaments (or places exceedingly well).

At the same time... just that picture.

    Makoto with red focus? :\

It looks to me like it won't change the metagame too much on a high level - just at lower levels and really high levels.

Observe the Daigo/Infiltration 10-2 blowup, or watch UltraChen if you don't want to figure out wtf.

Think of it like this. Daigo throws a fireball, Inf focuses right through, okay, at that point, if it was badly timed, he'll eat a sweep, a cr.mk or even an umeshoryu.

bueno. forces him to space perfectly, forces daigo to space perfectly, etc etc.

now, red focus. He goes through, burning meter. Either he's going to force Daigo to burn meter (via shaka or exdp) - or eat a combo which will build back ~3/4 of the meter that he's lost, doing ~300-500 dmg depending on how much he commits.

By contrast, this is something that Ryu really, really doesn't want to do. Why? Because 2f super is freaking godlike and is gameending in a way that guess-and-guess-again redfocus isn't.

But sometimes you gotta burn that meter, right?

just think about that shit as a wakeup option.

Akuma can df palmwhiff -> mixup, can df kick... throw is only used as a surprise because dash the #### out of there, doubly for slide.

he can lk air tatsu to hit crossup and go for a sweep to reset the situation. The important thing here is that Akuma really relies on this vs. a large portion of the cast because lk air tatsu makes most DPs whiff and represents godlike pressure. So if they backdash, his sweep will catch them and do what he intended, with less damage. If they release, full combo. If they block, he gets to do whatever, etc. Blocking is really hard.

But in this case, they can eat the sweep and gtfo, if they time it right, you can dash just as he starts another move and invinceframes, etc etc.

Basically, what this nerfs is vortex. What it really really makes amazing is rushdown.

As a Rufus player, I'm thinking THANK YOU SO MUCH NO MORE 3BAR BURN TO NOT DIE.

But I'm just thinking of how toptier this will make people like Yun. How top tier this makes fast grapplers.

Abel? Throw invince on that tt? Gief? INSTANT BUTTON PRESSES TO-

    Yeah, no.

Also, lol 3partarmor videos incoming with people like rog burning it all for the lulz.

But basically this nerfs the shit out of cammy, whose armor breaking options are pretty ass and whiff if dash, etc etc, buffs viper because that much invince means you can actually use her lolfocus now.

Buffs Blanka because ekeltreckaty (spelled properly) is two hits close.

    etc etc.

Also. LOL. makoto with twoultras. lol. and gief. sim, to an extent. SETH. wtf is this.

Why didn't I watch that in the first place lol.

though, I must say, I ####ing love Combofiend. He's the most earnest, nicest dude and his commentary always has depth that 99% of other commentators would be really hard pressed to match, as though you had character specialists commentate about a matchup they know a ton about. With every. single. match.

    I'm still on 5.1.1. :D

They've been trying to nerf vortexes for a bit and just couldn't get it right as far as I know. But I'm still waiting to see what comes of this. If anything, it couldn't make things any worse (red parry....er, I mean FOCUS that is) but I'm still not sure about the two ultra thing. I am glad that it nerfs Ultra damage if you pick the 3rd (double) option. Maybe Ultras will finally do the amount of damage they should have all along.

Does anyone here play SSFIV or SFxT on Mac? I'm about to buy one and I'd like to know if I could play those games with Boot Camp or with other method, but I can't find anything with Google. The only thing I found is a port that doesn't support online.

Split your hard disk into partitions, install windows on the free partition, load the mac on windows, instal sfiv or sfxt and play.

If you dont know how to do it i suggest that someone that knows helps you.
I play sfiv ae on windows using my macs windows partition.

If you have a fast network connection, you could just play it via Onlive without having to install Windows. It works really well IMHO. It's also super cheap on game consoles like PS3 or 3DS.

Woah, I didn't think about that. But I just tried the trial and it seems my network isn't fast enough. In order to link 2 Makoto's st.MP I have to mash 2 like crazy. At least it was better than the Benchmark on my current laptop :p

I can't imagine Onlive being any good for the time being. If it's annoying to have input lag while playing against someone online, it doesn't sound too good when the lag is there for EVERYTHING.

Sure man, but once the online improves in some years cloud gaming will be the best option. You could play a last-gen game on a sh**ty device. You can't imagine how I felt after performing Oni's second Ultra on my sh**ty computer using Onlive. It was like :eek::):D:cool:. So for me, even while it was a bit laggy (and I can imagine that being a worse nightmare while playing ranked), it was a neat experience.

Pipe dream. You do realize that Onlive went bankrupt. A believe a PE company bought them and kept the current operations going. Probably not improving the current tech due to funding. We are a long way off from cloud gaming. More than a fee years. Let's look at the 5-10 year horizon for anything decent.

Hey Appy, ever played Fercho8701? Good Cody. Still free to Cammy, but his Cody is probably the best I've seen on US server

I can't believe I'm having trouble in this game. That's not a Thing.

    Doing combo challenges and...

Okay, I concede, Honda #8 is completely my fault, I should practice that link and not panicsmash punch and get hundredhands to come out. Annoying as hell, but I know I can do it given a bit of time.

but uh... Deejay #5, incomprehensibly. ing machinegun upper just refuses not to come out.

And Makoto #7. Holy shit. #6 was giving me troubles until I bit the bullet and just freaking did it, but like... I think they want instant EXtsurugi and it refuses to come out the same way cammy's instantexdive does for me.

I'm unbelieviably butthurt that I got the "hardest" ones for me - chun and abel and I couldn't do this (I had some hell of a time with abel's cr.lp -> st.hp and I ended up cr.lp xx change of direction1 -> fadc -> st.hp to compensate LOLOLOLOL - pretty much cr.lk xx legs -> fadc -> cr.lk xx ex legs xx ultra for chun as well).

But I can't freaking do the Deejay one. And I EXtsurugi just isn't coming out.

    I'm so butthurt.

edit: practicing Sak combos to "blow off steam" is not effective. missing shouken #4 in infinite meter mode and getting a 40-something hit combo just makes you salty.

more link fun: up to 6 ex dives with Cammy before finally dropping it.
