Are we talking about with or without sp assist? I assume sp assist on. I'd say Cody is probably the hardest character to win with, he doesn't have any good spam options like viper does.

As far as which characters are harder to master (the term "master" is quite subjective though)? I'm leaning towards sim. I've only met two sim players who knew how to use all of his tools and not just teleport spam all day. Viper "masters" seem to be a dime a dozen and it seems like she only takes a month to master.

Chun li is another character who has a tough time winning but with one of the best ultras (in terms of damage) I'd put her above Cody.

On the opposite side of the scale I'd say the easiest character to win with is gief, and the easiest to master is saga (maybe Akuma).

    Something like this?

    http://www.mmcafe.com/tiermaker/ssf4/index.html?tc=ya0-tr001y001y001ycohy003mjcaj005a005adnc6g4c9e5hu006y008mi3bbg96w98es81ih00aak22il697i7coebfo00dmi95600fa9yk100fa00gy00gy00gybgjglb7fmo5bm733ni3ymealcxdr00ly00ly-bkg

Gief isn't necessarily the easiest to use. You have a bad matchup against sagat/guile and other shotos but you have the biggest 'oops I win moments'.

I guess it also comes down to ultras a lot of the time. Chun's is actually really crappy because you can't punish, for example, Cannon Spike or Blanka Ball midscreen with it consistently.

Makoto has good 'oops I win' but has no shoryuken so isn't really that noob friendly.

I think Blanka/Cammy/Ken are all in the same camp where you can win randomly by mashing buttons

Yun can mess you up pretty bad if you have those links down. All he needs is to get that one hit and there goes 1/3-1/2 your life.

Hardest to win with, I'd say Makoto. She has great stuff when up close but it's so damn easy to keep her out that it almost doesn't matter.

I agree with Shane though that it depends on whether you're talking about SP on or off. Execution wise I'd definitely say Viper.

Overall I guess I'd go with Makoto. Her gameplan is just so hard to implement that I think she's probably the toughest to pick up in Volt. Cody and Sakura have projectiles so that gives them a few more options than Makoto has. Yun can be pretty tough to use effectively but his speed works in his favor and if he gets that one hit in, that can be the end. So yeah, Makoto. The fact that Nashberry was able to do so well with her is really a testament to his ability as a player.

You can anti air* with low punch just require perfect timing/distance.Her EX bird split needs to be an armor breaker then she'd be way better off

Sim is underrated, well most low tiers are anyway!!! Play the players not the characters. But given the limitation of online lag, shoto idiots can win you over a smash of a DP. Another character that annoys me is bison, I have to show most of BN fools how to play proper bison. Defensive bison is hard to crack just like blanka, guile, Sagat etc...

Btw, I don't blame a walking back DJ, DJ is arguably the worst char.

Lol Cody is not that terrible ! C'mon guys.

Depending on how you want to play. If your an aggressive players like me (defensive are for sissies lol) DJ is the hardest to win; however, his Focus is not that bad so you can land an high damage ultra. Hardest to master is Makoto (if you want to be fancy)

DJ is better than Chun Li

And why does no one believe me when I say Cody is terrible and probably the worst character in the game

Cody vs Dhalsim is like 8:2 if Sim runs away, same would apply to any1 that runs, except Sagat who can't escape corners easily.

DJ isn't all that bad he has got some nice frame traps starting with stLP. An aggressive DJ is rare but they still exist.

Makoto is all about links for sure, that needs practice but still not as hard as a Viper standard FFF combo: Fierce, Feint, Fierce, ex Seismo, high jump cancel into focus forward dash, ultra

Cody is still viable but you'll need 3 fingers on the screen, for those insane zonk pressure... otherwise you just pretty much have to play zoning which isn't his main strength.

A zonk Cody can make sure you press no button for a long while, like how Nash plays him.

by mastering I mean you can utilize the character's full potential. Do you see a lot of Viper punishing mistakes with a 450+ damaging combo all the time? No, because that is executionally very difficult and also timing heavy.

Most Viper just do crMK xx thunder knuckle, but still, that would probably be enough to take a win with her coz of her OP wake up game

I actually disagree with playing Zonk Cody. It's terrible and inflexible. Say someone misses a srk in front of you, what is your response? a 16 frame move that has no follow ups and does 180 damage? It's even worse if it is Ken, who has 9f landing recovery on shoryuken.

Why Cody needs to and should play aggressively
-second best safe jumps in the game
-good hp/stun values to play mixup with, and can threaten ex zonk
-good stun damage on Criminal Upper
    -cr.MK
    -terrible wakeup game

Thing is viper is quite OP, yes her links are kinda weird but it takes a different kind of ball game to play a fancy makoto. I mean jump p, st p, hayate cancel, foward p, low p, hayate, FDAC, st p, low p, ex hayate, upward punch, dash, upward punch, ex hayate or ex axe kick. Now that's some crazy stuff haha. Freaking the Korean player metal rider is a crazy makoto.

The last true master of volt viper is YYOJJO that dude hits some crazy links before he retired. Bunch of vipers now just ex hammer and freaking smashing burn kicks.

Makoto isnt that hard to master, and doesnt need to be fancy to be good.
Viper is super easy to master. cr.mk, m.tk. Hammer sjc Hammer. Crossover Burn kick and your good to go.
Meterless FADC is harder than FFF.

Hardest to master i think is Yun, Sakura, Balrog.

Hardest to win with i say its Cody, Yun, Chun-Li, Sakura.

    Cody's Options >>> Makoto's Options

A well played Cody can be a pain in the ass, it's just that few people care to play him to his fullest.

Mokoto's best option is jus to die. :-X

I've met a few 4k Makotos that were tough. I've played all the Cody's on both US and Japan servers above 3k and none were as hard as the 4k Makotos. Cody has bad AA options so just neutral jump and throw all day. Cody is basically a free win. :D

    Fun exercise:

Replace every use of "Cody" over the last several pages with the name "Harle." It all pretty much means the exact same thing!

Cody has Tornado upper which isn't a grea AA but all Mak has is her uppercut that's only really useful if they're right on top if you and maybe standing K unless there's something I'm missing.

But you can't judge a character based on how many BP players get with them. Cody has better options than Mak, not great ones, but better ones. Cody at least can make a zoner sweat a little whereas Mak gets eaten for breakfast.

    Hahahahahah you're terrible, and I lawl'ed

Makoto has one of the best ultras in the game. It's the fastest, deals a lot of damage and it's very easy to combo into it (or just mash it out, if that's how you play).

Makoto also has this godly dash too to get out of trouble. Her mobility is very good.

I think Makoto is actually pretty good, but she has a huge reliance on normals.
