Lol! Who said I have a problem approaching them? I just showed you a replay of me doing just that. Do you have a problem with people jumping back or walking back and throwing projectiles? I'm sure you don't but that doesn't mean you enjoy that kind of game play. Besides, jumping back and avoiding the fight can be considered lame (I believe infiltration plays that way and he is a top sfiv player) , I just don't think the first replay you posted was a good example of someone playing lame. For me, if everyone played liked that I'd be a happy camper and I'd never say anyone is playing lame. And as I pointed out the definition of lame wasn't defined by me, if wa defined by pro fighting game players, so while you personally may not think the replay I posted was an example of lame game play, you would be wrong. It's like people telling you they do resets but when you see them you know try aren't resets. You didn't define what a reset is, the fighting community did, but you know what they are. Post players on volt have no clue what lame play is which adds to their confusion and usually explains why they get mad when I tell them they were playing lame.
I have no problem with people playing at mid range which is pretty much footsies zone. That's what top AE players do; they are trying to minimise the damage they take but maximise their options. That's midrange footsies. Lame is when people run to the corner, refuse to engage and stay at max screen
Shane I hope you see the irony of this sentence you typed that I quoted. Did you ever stop to think that you might get more good matches if you didn't come on here to piss and moan about how nobody plays the way you want so you can get easy wins? I wouldn't give a damn whether you like how I played or not. I want to win, not impress you. I stopped playing because the game stopped being fun for me and it sounds like you might need a break. You're a great player with a shitty attitude and no one wants to play someone they're going to have to worry about trashing their name in a highly respected community like TA.
Weekly Tournament #7 So this week we decided to have a Round Robin and all of the sudden A WILD TenOnez APPEARS yes......thats right....expect it http://www.twitch.tv/captyadierpr/c/2800671 Watch the stream here with some sucky commentary by me, and enjoy the hyped matches. Featuring, TenOnez, HarlequinRogue, ThunderQuakesOfPhoenix and me of course xXcaptyadierXx
The quote isn't ironic at all. My opinion is no better than yours or Harley's. TA was once a respected community but it hasn't been for over a year and it's not because of my shitty attitude. Most players on volt have no idea what TA is. Btw, calling someone's play style lame is not trash talking. It's not an insult, it's a play style. You stopped having fun and quit, I prefer to keep playing and I voice my opinion on what is fun to me. If you don't like my opinion then who the F cares? But you are certainly entitled to say your opinion as am I. I'm curious though, why did the game stop being fun?
Actually TA is still pretty well respected amongst other circles, especially of experienced players. They certainly know we exist. We just aren't as tight a community as others. (One of the weird things is that people don't know that TA is a forum..... they just think it's some funny name thing. Go figure). But you know what, what I hear most about us at TA is that everyone knows you quit on people. Sure you have your reasons and justifications, and there's not very much malice behind it but I feel it does reflect on us here. Actually, what's currently worse than that is people don't appreciate us 'calling out' their teammates as lame players. I guess what I'm trying to say is, again, we aren't going to tell you what to do. TA is pretty lax on that; we aren't big profile and aren't about telling how they should do anything. But I guess, ideally and personally I would rather you not quit and impose your opinion on others but you're not going to be happy with that. I guess just keep it to yourself a bit? Again, this is a game about having fun, and keeping it lighter would do wonders
We are no different than other teams, they talk just as much crap as we do. Here is the thing that you may not be aware of. A lot of the people who have beef with me confront me about it or I confront them about it and what usually happens is that we talk it out, we come to an understanding and we move forward. You guys don't see that nor do you hear about it and that's because its between them and I. I'm aware that other teams see our trash talking (you realize you were trash talking new era right, its not just me) and I'm aware of the latest incident you are referring to, did you know I talked to one of the team members to clear things up? Did you reach out to the other teams to clear the air? I have dozens of examples of similar situations like that. Of course there are situations where issue arent resolved and the other person talks crap (justified or not) and we aren't able to move on but that's rare. For example, I love playing cyrax because he plays multi characters really well and he usually very aggressive, but I RQed on him while he was using a stealth account (he says it was an old account but I've never seen it) because he was playing lame (the official definition not yours) and I felt he was only playing that way because he was using a stealth account and I felt disrespected. Naturally he got mad, I explained myself and he didnt want to move on. Its a shame but my point is this; you only see one side and not whats going on behind the scenes. I make my opinions known, not because they are better than everyone else's, not because I want people to play a certain way, not because I'm an asshole (I am but that's besides the point), but out of respect to all that play this game for their own reasons because I want them to know what I do is not done out of hate or salt but purely for me to continue enjoying the game (this and solitaire are the only games I play). After all, aren't we all playing this game for fun?
So long as you have cleared things up with people that's a good start. I in fact did have a chat with Eskapade a while ago. He even screen capped a bit from TA where he saw I called his team's Akumas crappy. We cleared up some stuff between us, including me confirming that Radical Slasher used his name to make a duplicate account here. I guess, it's just that you might not mean ill but there a lot of people who take offense to your actions and misinterpret them
It's bound to happen no matter what though. If you really want to help, then tell those people to talk to me about it. I don't need you to defend me (not that you would, nor would I blame you for not defending me) as I would rather talk to them and have them hear it from the horses mouth.
I believe my definition to lame play is very close to HarlequinRogue. Mainly two play styles I consider them to be merely a lame play style. One player I think of is "YogaYogaYoga.." in volt and "Tokido" in AE. if I'm not mistaken. Where "YogaYogaYoga.." depends mainly on just running away from you from corner to corner and throwing fire spams and teleporting using most of the time sim and sometimes Sagat. That's explains his high BP, because no matter how much you tolerate this coward play style, at some point you will lose your temper and rush down into him just to finish the game no matter the result would be. The second play style I consider to be lame is when the opponent just crouches somewhere and wait for you to do any action so he can punish you in return. He will not take any risk to come close to you and keep that play style till the end even if his health life is close to end. That's why I ask always for removing the option of Auto Block in volt. I don't know where the skill is in playing the game if you just rely on the CPU to take care of your guard and you only focus on how to make damage to your opponent!
I feel the same way about autoblock. I'm ok with SP on, but autoblock feels like cheating to me. I actually made fun of Manu once when I noticed he was using autoblock. He immediately turned it off after that (or at least whenever he plays me), so that was a rare time when calling someone out actually worked. \(^^)/ I definitely don't ENJOY playing spammy/lame Sims, but at the same time I can't get mad at them. Because that's kinda how Sim has to be played most of the time. It's what the character excels at, (running away and spacing), so to hate that would be to hate the very existence of the character. Same thing with spammy akumas and Sagats. They annoy the shit out of me, but I can't really blame them for using their characters' BEST WEAPONS to their full effect. (Plus, if I ever get really annoyed, I can just switch to Vega, and Sagats/akumas become instantly free. ^_^)
Actually, expanding on the last thing I just said, that could actually be a good solution for anyone who hates dealing with specific lame/spammy play styles: Counter picks! Spam akumas and Sagats NEVER bother me when I'm using Vega, because Vega is an amazing counter pick for both characters. Both matchups are in Vega's favor, and one of the biggest reasons is because Vega can take away their spam game. If you guys have a particular lame/spammy/annoying style that you hate dealing with, ask people here what a good character/counter pick solution to it is, and then practice with that character! That way, when you see your opponent being lame in the first game, you can counter pick and shut them down faster than Leonel shuts down my advances after 12 rounds of tequila. For instance, Vega's not the best at approaching runaway Sims. Does anyone know a good character/style to deal with sims who only jump backwards and do air teleports and air punches?
Cammy strategy vs sim: do whatever the #### you want until he gets super b/c you deal more damage from one lucky guess than sim does in 4 punishes.
That's one reason I started learning sim, he is a good counter pick to gief. My sim sucks but I've beaten a lot of giefs and it was easier than beating them with blanka. He is a special character and probably the only one I can play the longest against if they play lame before getting bored. However, for the most part I don't mind spammers. Yes, them doing the same move over and over is annoying and it eventually bores the crap out of me but I'll take that over lame play. And yes autoblock makes playing lame a ridiculously easy strategy to use for winning. Cross ups don't work and blankas throw is to slow to try and use that (it works on turtlers but not lamers).
Doing a lazy search about "the official definition of lame" I ended up watching this: http://www.oldabbot.com/canned-projects/internet-televison-series/ufgt8-community-panels/the-art-of-lame/ They talk about some interesting points, although it is more focused on UMvC 3.
