wow. you literally just join this thread and you find the best glitch. I was pretty certain that you couldnt kara, i spent probably an hour trying to kara throw with ken, so i just assumed you couldnt kara with sagat. He is definitley on top of the tier list.

I thought i was cool when i found yuns focus crumple-backdash-palm combo but this is ridiculous. i am so glad most people dont know about this online. kara tiger shot spam would be ridiculous and jumping in would be completely unsafe from any range. VERY nice work.

"Kara" is a Japanese word that means "empty" and is usually when you do a normal move and then cancel (or "kara-cancel") into a special move in order to (usually) increase it's range. In SSF4 (and SFII for that matter) Ken's Kara Throw is infamous:

Works for a lot of different things, but not all carry over into Volt. Apparently Sagat has a considerable amount of kara moves, though.

Some for my main in Volt:

Again... Not all work, you just have to play around with it.

So with sagat you do the forward+kick and then any special move before the kick comes out. It will move you forward before and then do the special move. You cant kara throw though, trust me. I spent a long time trying to do it with ken, who is most famous for his kara throw, huge increase in range when canceled from his step kick.

GG's man, your Fei''s got way better since the last time we played.

The Kara knee, SRK, and fireball are real easy to do especially with sp assist on, all you do is input F-kick and then interupt the animation with there special move causing the animation to extend across the screen with the momentum of the foward kick. I wouldnt say its game breaking in this case its just a nasty surprise if you think your outside of his range and he snags you.

Thanks. And I just did it. Is sagat the only character that can do it?

I tried with Ken, Fei and Sagat just now messing around and Sagat is the only one so far. I'll have to mess around with others tonight and find out and maybe scrap together a video showing Kara potential for them.

I've gone through the rest of the roster. I was hoping Yun's f+P, Sakura's f+K, Guile's b+K would have some karas -- didn't find any.

Closest would be Kara-demoning. Kara-demon seems to be available during a whole bunch of different moves, incl the overhead punch and the double roundhouse.

The overhead chop is your best bet, in all cases the other player can still jump your ultra, but if you kara cancel or regular cancel your super from the overhead or any other of the options he has your opponent has to be jumping before you input the super to escape.

I feel like kara-demons are more for mind-games than range increases, as there's still time to react with a backwards-jump or an SRK after the flash, if there's zero-lag.

You can interrupt the overhead and the double roundhouse at any time, so you could potentially wait for them to switch to a standing block on the overhead before you activate. Nothing that guarantees a grab though, as far as I can tell. Could be used to get invincibility frames and to get closer under the guise of a double-roundhouse.

    The low tier.
haha, i just figured people knew about this - then again, i haven't seen anyone else do this online - i rarely play against sagat b/c i think the mirror match is a snooze fest

ill just go ahead and give away my best secret - kara tiger uppercut autocorrects - so sagat will step one direction and uppercut the other - ill let people figure out the applications on their own

Since we're all giving away our secrets, here is my thoughts on abels step kick options, pasted from a word document where i jotted stuff down a few nights ago:

(TT stands for tornado throw, Jk for jumping kick. This is assuming your opponent just blocked a step kick or you hit them with one. If its a counter hit however you can combo into standing punch-change of direction. In console versions a non counterhit step kick can combo into standing hard punch, but not on volt :( and by reversals i mean moves with invincibility likely to be spammed out btw)

TT beats all throws and block, but loses to reversals, jumping and backdashing.

Roll beats all reversals and jumping, loses to throws and block. Backdashes depend.

JK beats jumping, backdashing, teleports and some reversals. Loses to block and throws.

JK beats ryus uppercut, sakuras uppercut, sumo smash, tiger uppercut, kens uppercut, EX SBK, lariat (most of the time), yoga flame, vegas wall dive, headstomp, devils reverse, thunder knuckle, wheel kick(whiffs), criminal upper, akumas uppercut

JK loses to upball, flash kick, tiger knee, yuns upkicks, yoga blast (if you empty you can TT), scarlet terror, flame kick, chicken wing (escapes), cannon spike, djs upkicks, falling sky, ruffian kick, fuikage (unless empty jumped)

Yes you read that right. If you step kick-dash cancel and then hold up-forward then press kick in mid air you will beat out the reversals listed above. Not that anyone here plays Abel anyway but if you do decide to this stuff is really helpful. Abel has the best mixups in volt imo

    The low tier.
abel is such a pain in the ass - his mixups are ridiculous - most abels don't use that air grab enough though, if at all - is it hard to do online?
