Sim's pretty easy for me as a Guile player, I don't think I've lost to a Dhalsim player in months. They always want to hang back, and so I let them, but once they teleport, I'll throw them, corner them, and usually use a couple of good combos until they manage to get away, then the process starts anew. I've gotten a few perfect rounds on them. You just have to be patient. Sagat rocks pretty much everyone though. He's still top tier in this game methinks.
So I'm on vacation today and spending most of that day sitting home chilling so if anyone wants to play some rounds just shoot me a request.
@Vaceotyn nice to play with you bro Your viper is very solid and though. We should play more later. Cheers.
Yep. Good games, even though we didn't get to finish some of them. Your Gief is pretty scary when you jump on me with all that pressure.
I'm surprised that you didn't have success against Dhalsim with Blanca. He's a tough matchup in my opinion. He seems to do a ton of damage.
It's not that I don't have "success" - it's just that I never really feel like I can dictate the flow of the fight with blanka. I'm always just trying to anticipate stuff.
Do you guys use SP assist or not? I still don't know if you only get paired with no SP assist people when you play without it. Does anyone know?
Whether or not you use SP Assist does not affect who you are matched up with. I use it, although I've gone without it for awhile at times just for fun (not sure that term really applies though, given the difficulty with controls).
I guess I should turn it on then. I've been playing without it this whole time and online is sometimes hard. Might be that lag messes with the inputs? Somehow feels like cheating with SP assist. Same reason I turn aim assist off in console shooters (if possible).
I used to think so, but just about everybody uses it. The screen controls aren't well suited for pulling off special moves. It's not a cheat, it's a different gameplay mechanic.
Maybe. Much more challenging and rewarding though to pull off moves on your own. It is possible but a bit slower perhaps. I wish there was an option to force both players to play without it. Then again, this isn't console or arcade gaming so maybe casual is good enough.
may I know what tricks can Viper do other than using super jump to do consecutive seismo hammer btw I want to ask how many times can we do the hammer using super jump cancel? also i know in console it's possible to do fake thunder knuckle or smtg alike...can we do it in Volt ?
I used to not use SP out of pride but then I realized this exactly, after I turned SP assist on I starting enjoying it much more. There are definitly two camps of SP assist players though, most of the people here use it respectfully with some form of methodology behind the things they do. The other side of it is people who just mindlessly spam moves, you see it alot with Hondas and Blankas and the worst part is they win pretty often because of it.
It also levels the playing field, thereby making it more about pure strategy, timing, etc. If they didn't have the SP Assist, the game really just wouldn't be anywhere near as popular IMHO. The argument that it's more challenging or rewarding to do it the old fashioned way just doesn't cut it for me. I can get that reward on single player mode. The reward I want in multiplayer is to beat people up. Haha.
Good point there. With no assist it would be harder for new players to start playing. I still wish there was a hardcore mode or something. Oh well, maybe someday in the distant future. Probably won't be Volt then.
You can seismo-SJ-flamekick. You can do as many seismo-SJ-cancel-seismos in a row, but usually it's abt 3 -- after that, they're pushed out of range. You can do a fake seismo with f-SP-SP. You can do a fake EX thunder knuckle with b-d-db-SP-SP.
Does anyone else hate ultra combos? I have lost so many times to ppl that play like shit because I had half of my health left and they decided to mash the top corner of the screen. It might not be so bad if you didn't get it FOR GETTING YOUR ASS BEAT.
I played against a Blanka today who I was close to beating. He hits me with an Ultra and it takes off 2/3 of my life, no joke! I had a full energy bar too. I still won but that made me I'm pissed off at the controls today. I keep losing because illl do something I didn't want to do (usually an EX Flash kick) that leaves me Wide open. ####ing game. ;-(
