Nash knows how to play as him. His Cody is as deadly as his Makoto, nuff said. I'm not so sure about Cody being trash. If you said the same thing about Pichu in SSBM, I'd have agreed, but balance in this game isn't that bad, except... Well, you know what char I'm talking about Hwo is top tier in the console version since 2013 version. Before he was mid. But in the mobile version, even after being nerfed, he's still top tier. He has the best mixup game, and that's something (heh, I'm sure you remember how Hugo in that game is even more powerful than Gief in Volt). There's a setup that lets him strike an almost-safe overhead which defeats jump, normals and, of course, crouching, and I say almost because SRK with invinc (EX Shredder, Flash Kick, SRK) and Super/Cross arts beat it, but even while his frame advantage on block isn't great, that setup lets him avoid most fast reversals since it puts him at max distance. That setup also lets him jump if the player rolls and use air TC as MEATY. It's based on the video I posted in the KD thread, which, BTW, will be released today! Anyway, if you still have that game installed I can show you how top tier he is Oh, and you all should buy Phoenix Wright's HD Trilogy, really. Best thing Capcom did in YEARS.
Varo: Imagine the amount of effort the best Volt Cody players have put into Cody. Now imagine the amount of effort and time all Cody players have put in. I have personally put in more effort into Cody than all of that. Believe me when I saw Cody is trash
I can't really imagine. I hadn't played this game since release, but only since some months ago. My ranked and friendlies win rates can verify that. Two years can give anyone time to master or almost master a character, but if almost nobody picks someone it's impossible to say wether that char is cool or not. In SFxTK now no one picks Sim, but I must make you remember that at least two Sim players were top players in SFxTK ranking for many weeks after release. As I said, I'm only some months old in Volt, so I can't say which chars people love in ranked. I have seen great Giefs, great Akumas and great Ryus, but only one or two Codys in total.
Take his word for it, he created a spread sheet with every cody combo imaginable. If he says Cody is trash then it's because he probably is.
When did I ever switch to on/on is a better question XD I've played on/on maybe 10 games tops. I can't play that way, I just end up cussing myself and do not enjoy it half as much as off/off. This shit is tooooo funny!!! XD I was cracking up after "air of confidence"!! Very cool anime character projection, you sure you're not working for anime company or something? XD Anyway, Sakura & Abel are totally gonna rock your Vega's world! TenOnez Cody is good but so is Nash, Hazure and HR.
Tired of Street Fighter 4 Volt? Try this Now with more Bison Dollars! (I found this the other day at a games store)
Sure, that's a lot of work, but one thing is knowing combos and another thing is knowing how to play. In SFxTK I know LOTS of combos with Paul, not only combos that deal a lot of damage but also LONG combos, but I'm not too good with him. I also know Akuma combos in Volt, and also some resets, but I still suck (well, I suck at the whole game, no matter the character ._."). Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Did you buy it?
I'm definitely not anywhere near the best Codys but I have put enough enough into setups, optimising combos and learning spacing and obscure stuff. I don't just know combos, I know all of them. I have Cody setups that make him almost playable...
True. They are good Codys but none of them are Godlike. Take a look at their win rates with Cody and then look at them with other characters. Cody is way down. Nash Makoto is significantly stronger. TenOnez Rog and Yun is way scarier. HR Guile is waaaay more dangerous. Too much empirical evidence stacked against Cody.
OH YEAH!! I'm not doubting for 1 second that Volt Cody is one of the biggest dump piles of trash ever created for a fighting game! If they made a Volt Dan he would be 1000x better than Cody XD
I put on a simple site on google, so we can track everything a little bit easier: https://sites.google.com/site/voltfighters/ I'll update all tournament replays on this site too(they have to be uploaded on youtube) and categorize them by players. I'm not a good writer and graphic designer. Let me know if you want to maint this site together or have any advice.
Vega is actually a bad match up for viper, not the other way around. Makoto..... can be debated into 6-4 or 4-6 fei can be 4-6 abel and sakura can go 7-3 but thats my opinion
RAH RAH RAH.. Keep the tourney spirit going guys !! TouchArcade The Led Zeppelin of Volt !! I've sworn off tourneys due to the time commitment, but will watch eagerly.. I've told the later arrivals to Volt how TA tourneys REQUIRED skills with more than one character.. I remember those quotas on single character use, that was so clever, and compelled the Gen1 players to be good with at least 3 characters.. The timing for a tourney is great, besides the anniversary.. The game is kinda well worn now, and egos have mellowed lots.. A suggestion from what I experienced in Japan: - to make the lag test match CLEAR to both ppl, the players must select less than 100% life to CLEARLY communicate to the opponent "this is still a lag test far as I'm concerned"... Once a player enters a game with 100% life, they are communicating "GO".. Win or lose, the fact a player selects 100% life means they've "OPTED IN" to playing a Real Match..
Hey guys, KD just released: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=191912 Oh, and if there are here some Brawl players, google "cbliss brawl". I wish every game had a modding community like Brawl. It's the best, hands down.
