I used ahugo as my anchor in SFxT and that body splash was so OP. I would also often empty jump and then surprise opponents with a command grab. I miss using top tier characters. Haha.

    The low tier.
May I recommend character lock, like they do in most tournaments? That is, loser of the previous match can change characters, but winner must keep the same character.

The only way to deal with Hugo in SFxTK is by poking and turtle. Zoning in that game sucks, and once Hugo hits you once with Body Press the match is almost over. The problem is that only chars like Kaz and Chun have cool pokes. SRK has worse starup in this game than in Volt, so using it after getting hit with Body Press is useless and very risky. Then, his cr.MK has the biggest range in the game, so you can't play footsies. And let's not forget Super Armor for Lariat.
His only bad matchup is against Kaz, whose Mist Step will avoid almost any attack, and his st.HK is also very good. He can deal without problems with the rest of the characters, even with Sim. You can't even bait him to do Shootdown Backbreaker by using Air Raid with Hwo or Rolento because he'll actually grab you.
    So. Damn. OP.

Wouldn't that be a bit unfair?
For example: Makoto vs Abel. Makoto wins. The other player will counterpick and use for example Sagat since the other player couldn't change his character.

    The low tier.
I don't see how that's unfair, if the other guys Sagat is good enough to win, then good for him.

Counterpicking is something that is going to happen anyway, this just prevents the tournament from turning into a mind game of what character to pick. Pre-counterpicking against an anticipated counterpick, etc...

surely counter-picking isn't avoidable unless we all play SF1 ''the fairest fighting game ever''

but that will be hell of boring coz the only characters back in SF1 are Ryu and Ken...

BUT note that the character lock rule in EVO applies to AE when you can still switch your ultra if the match-up has changed... which certainly makes a big difference... I think we would need to take that factor into account

example: Makoto, Cody, Yun can pick U2 in a fireball match as they all have some FB invinc

The only way to deal with counterpicking would be to ban every character but one :p
But I still think that the mindgame would be better than the other option. You can't counterpick when you don't know the character you're going to face. Those would be just assumptions.

Not many people here can play a third if the cast well enough to counter pick.

Like, say I can play Ryu, viper, vega, cammy, that will require a very specific set of counterpicks. At EVO, people might just shake it up between the 2 characters they know, not even to counterpick but to hopefully throw the opponent off with a different style

Well, learning a single character in AE takes more time than learning the same character in Volt, since chars from the mobile version only get some moves from the console version. And even while bad matchups still exist in AE, most chars have tools against some moves that we don't have in Volt (I don't have AE so this is just a guess).
I don't think counterpicking will be a huge problem in the tourney anyway, but in ranked almost everytime I win the first match and the opponent wants a rematch he always counterpicks. For example, today I won two matches against a guy who used Fei by using Akuma who had around 7000 won matches and 3000 lost and then he picked Viper and won. That annoyed me a lot.
Anyway, with or without counterpicking measures I will be last at the tourney, so whatever xD (sorry shane :p)

Well, if I understand this, it's not mandatory to switch characters if you lose. You get the option if you want, and if you win I guess there's no reason to switch characters.

not bad Varo your Cody is pretty decent

meaty RK caught me back dashing into FADC ultra was good :)

but I understand it feels awkward to charge an ex zonk you can do them in the air or just hold down SP after u throw a rock... etc

ex zonk is a mad good tool in this game, if you can charge them when ever u want Cody can be a pressure beast  u saw how ex zonk beats ex CU!?

myself I'm learning how to charge zonk when ever I want but with only 1 thumb on each hand it feels really awkward unless I arrange buttons...

After you stunned me zonk was my life saver, so you can be sure that I know about its power, but yeah, too damn awkward.
I just started today with him, so take it easy xD

And: j.HP, st.MP xx Ruffian Kick, FADC, Ruffian Kick, EX Criminal Upper -> 460 in midscreen, 516 in corner.

LOL I was trying to style with the 1 frame link: jab, jaw crusher, crMP xx CU but I dropped the link and ate zonk :(

stHP xx CU would've done more damage in that case but I just can't resist an opportunity to try styling  if you mashed ultra you would've got me ;)

I'm trying to avoid mashing Ultra. It's a temptation I must resist.

Nope. In Volt EX RK just knocks down. In AE, they bounce a little if you hit the EX RK aa.

Ruffian Kick, FADC, Ruffian Kick, EX Criminal Upper is the most damaging cody combo midscreen. In the combo spreadsheet (see sig), I've listed the most damaging cody combos...
