He, tokido and a few others are the only akumas that make it that far in tournaments

I just hope in 2013 we can see a character that has never won a tournament before now dominating!

like, Guy!!! :D Finishing off a tournament with his Ultra2 will be so sexy

Actually i let you hit me the first time, cause i was walking forward after seeing you were afk, not moving. You landed that nasty combo, and then i tried to chip you.

    If only I knew
Thanks for all the tips. Have you been trying out Balrog yourself? Finally, yes I do aspire to pull of some of those combos like TenOnez, but I'm definitely a long way from getting that down. Been watching loads of his reps, learn some spacing tactics that work very well.

I'd would understand some nerfs for Akuma if he had the move list from SFA3, but IMO he seems very balanced in both Volt (maining him :D) and AE (by watching replays).

The thing with akuma is he has high damage and low hp. But he also has a lot of options. This means his learning curve is tough, but very rewarding. If you have mastered akuma, it is a lot scarier than say, a mastered E Honda.

Blanka is another character that has a lot of options, but not as many high damage combos.

Don't forget the stun. Sometimes this game feels like SFxTK, two combos and I'm done xD
But well, these days I'm using Makoto more than Akuma. Yesterday I was able to perform Karakusa, st.MP, st.MP, cr.MP xx Hayate for the first time. Its timing is hard as hell, at least for me, but that's a good thing. For some reason, when people see me failing those Karakusa combos, they always mash SRK after Karakusa, so after command grab I just wait and then Karakusa again. If only she had a proper SRK...

Against mashers (read: Apprunner), I like to do like, 2 jabs and then stop just to punish their mashed uppercut

What's the highest damage Akuma can inflict besides his ultra?

    Makoto's cr.LK sucks :(
Also, one question: how am I supposed to react vs a front kick Abel spammer? You know, forward+K, dash cancel, repeat. EX Karakusa works well, but that's all. Mashing FA/EX Chop has more risk due to random TT. Same problem with Sagat's cr.MK.

(corner only) lvl 3 FA, st.HK, st.HP xx Hadoken, FADC, st.HK, st.HP xx EX Tatsu, EX SRK -> 502 damage

I'm sure that's not his most powerful combo without Ultra though. There are some really cool resets, not only cr.LK after FA or any normal after Tatsu, but also EX Demon Flip after ground normals for extra pressure, but I'm sure you already know this.

There are some stun combos like:
j.HP (ch), st.HP, Hadouken, FADC, st.HK, st.HP, EX Tatsu, EX SRK. (stun) Ultra
Which does 719 (even with HP scaling!)

    Some simple midscreen combos:
    J p, St K, St P xx Tatsu, Goshoryuken (431/569)
    J p, St K, St p xx Tatsu, EX Goshoryuken (455/599)

For comparison, Guile's most damaging 1 bar midscreen combo would be J p, st p xx EX Flash kick for a measly 340/500.

back dash or jump. Makoto's j p hits quite low too so that's an option.

I didn't think about trying CH and stun combos. 719 damage is a lot.
Most of the time I just can't jump. With back dash I get hit a lot, but at least I can get out of his moves due to back dashes=airborne.

Blanka does a tonne of damage, unfortunately, just not in combos.

I actually just pulled those from the google doc. There's no name as to who put them there.

I got excited when I found combos for guile doing over 600 stun... (they were like 3 bars too!)

    Backdash also has invinc frames.

You could probably also try in the training room and set the dummy to spam f+k.

i'd say neutral jump. just hold up when you see him use it. you have enough frames to get out.
that said, it's a mix-up, so if you show the neutral jump the first time after a step kick, next time he'll likely anti-air you (airgrab, jump P). but then you're safe from tornado throws. but then, hey, that's like any wake-up mix-up. just don't be in reach of the step kick, if you can help it.
