Hey does anyone know how to unlock the new icons?

I've got a Sakura one after playing some online matches.

Wonder how the rest are unlocked and what are their stats.

    Thanks for replying!

Good games XD4RKSH4DOWZX, just go easy on the upkicks and the random ultras, pretty easy to punish :D

Sorry had to go. Seriously, easy on the upkicks and shoryukens. Thats the main reason I won almost all the matches. Abel and Fei Long punish hard so probably a good idea to be a bit more careful.

A little late responding here. It's definitely true that most online Akumas don't know much more than spamming the same moves over and over again. The only Akumas I lose to with Dhalsim are ones that are aggressive to the end. That double kick-Goshoryuken does a ton of damage against Dhalsim. But oddly enough, Dhalsim is my go-to guy to take out Akumas. I'd actually appreciate finding a really good one online. If anyone mains Akuma or is better than the average online player and wants to battle with a Dhalsim, shoot me an invite (Jibba Junior). I also play Guile, Honda, Bison, Deejay and have been trying out a lot of other players lately.

Guile's EX Sonic Boom is great at catching people off guard. It doesn't do huge damage, but I've won a lot of really close matches by using it to finish opponents off. While it is definitely great up close (Sonic Boom -> EX Sonic Boom), even from a full screen away, if people aren't anticipating it there's not much they can do to avoid it.

I consider myself pretty good with Dhalsim at this point, but I'll still lose the occasional match against Zangief since it only takes a couple hits. It's far from a secret, but getting Dhalsim backed into a corner is money for Zangief (and many others). The green hand thing works great if Dhalsims don't know how to counter it. I used to (and still do) teleport or jump away, which is not possible once in a corner. Now I can typically counter with a noogie and that makes Zangiefs think against about spamming that move. If you want some practice, shoot me an invite.

  6. the upkicks were option selects and the random ultras ket
pt happening because of me trying to do the ex shoulder smash and the ultra would come out but they were fun im still going to practice yun and well have a rematch :)

Totally agree on Deejay, although I still don't like him as much as Guile (I very rarely get the opportunity to use Guile's Super or Ultra). I love his spinning kick but am not as high on his Jackknife kick. Given how much I use Guile, I thought Deejay would be a simple transition but it was pretty slow going for awhile. Still, he's definitely underappreciated.

I also do not like playing Chun Li online since if an opponent is using her, it's typically because he's solid with her. Her crouch kick is lightning fast like Bison's. Definitely another underappreciated character.

There are 18 new icons after the update. 3 for Fei-Long, 3 for Yun, and the other 12 are for giving and receiving compliments (as mentioned by a couple of people a few pages back) in ranked matches.

Crappin' balls. I've gotten pretty good with Fei Long and can take on any character pretty evenly, except for Zangief. No matter how many combos I pull against him and don't get hit, once I get grabbed or Ultra'd more than half my bar drops(once took only one ultra and one grab to beat me).

Anyone got any tips for fei vs gief?

Poke with rekkas, thats feis main game plan against anyone. If it hits, keep going, if its blocked then stop. Punish close range jumpins with flame kick (although it tends to trade a fair bit, especially against high priority attacks like zangiefs body splash) and far jump ins with standing kick. If he turtles use your overhead/sweep to catch him blocking high or low. Nuetral jumping at close range can lead to a big punish against zangiefs who like to grab, just dont do it too much or youll get lariated.

So just keep him out with rekkas basically lol. And remember to punish blocked greenhands or whiffed grabs and lariats if he gets too spammy with them

you cant option select on volt. From wiktionary.org:

"Option select describes a situation in a fighting game where the action of the player is ambiguous, and the computer will determine the outcome based on the situation. Generally speaking, the result chosen is the one that is BEST FOR THE ACTING PLAYER. For example, in Virtua Fighter 3 it was possible to do an action for both a block and a throw, and if the throw would have successfully captured the opponent it would do that, otherwise it would do a block. In SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos, attempting an air throw will result in a light attack if there is no opponent within throw range. Option select is sometimes the result of a flaw or overlooked feature within the game."

It says best for the player doing the option select. If they really were option selects then you wouldnt have whiffed the upkicks....

Yuns standard option select after a divekick is stand jab/jab lunge punch. What that means is if I tried to backdash then you would catch me with the lunge punch and if I blocked then you would just jab and stay safe. You might be able to option select upkicks against people trying to jump away in ae, but theres no option selects in volt....

Edit: oh and ex shoulder isnt safe on block so probably not the best attack to mash out. Normal shoulder and ex lunge punch are though.

I'm finding that her dash is one of the keys. That and trying to really catch your opponent off guard. It's a shame she doesn't play more like she did in Third Strike. :-/

Hey man, I was in the middle of dinner and at home (bad connection) or I would have played. Are you available tomorrow night around 7:15 cst?

+3 for Stelios DCing. I got nervous when I saw his bp and record (and I think I'd played him before and lost) but last time, I beasted him and he quit. :-/

Check the tourney thread in my sig! :)
