Deejay has this really annoying ability to just hold you in place. Feels like you're stuck in mud against him (assuming they're a good player).
rushing down with DJ? KNEE SHOT!!! move is good, hard to AA, frame trap, changes his landing point after jumps!
Interesting. And I think it sparked a long forgotten memory. I think that Sim's Yoga Blast will also catch a back dashing Sagat or Gief. I always thought I had caught one of them with it but could never reproduce it. I'll go check it out. Edit: Both versions work most of the time. I am short on time so I tested it mostly in the corner. If you time it just right (or wrong), he can manage to whiff. Same goes for Ex Yoga Blast. Sometimes it can whiff completely and sometimes it can hit once and miss once. It does connect both hits most of the time in the corner though.
The (EX) Yoga blast can hit. You can't do it pre-emptively though. The biggest problems I see are that no one is gonna backdash against a sim at close range and yoga flame is probably just flat out better catching backdashes and as a meaty option against people with bad reversals
Yeah, it happens usually when I get them in the corner. I feel like I have them totally locked up I do use knee shot a lot and its good against some characters but not all. I also may not have the spacing down right.
How could I approach a fireball spammer with Makoto? I don't have any problem with them while using Akuma, but with Makoto it's driving me crazy.
Ex Hayate, jump then use your Axe Kick, neutral jump axe kick, build meter with chop, f+p while they're recovering from fireball, focus dash cancel.
Totally agree as far as backdash goes. Yoga blast does catch a lot of people jumping away, neutral jumping and jumping forward for crossovers though. It also catches a lot of people in the early frames of a bunch of moves (e.g., most SRKs if you're not right on top of your opponent). I'm starting to use Flame and Blast a bit more often in selective situations. Blast is common for anti-air, but flame is actually pretty good as well and usually at least trades (although a Gief fart can knock Sim down). I also use Flame sometimes now if I'm just out of Ryu's (for example) cr. k range. Most movements during it's active frames move the character forward slightly and into it's range. Not all that useful, but whatever.
I don't know much about her, but she has great ex moves to get in and then can do some good punishing once inside. She builds meter fast so you can spam a lot of ex moves.
Patience! Learn to FA and slowly get in and don't take too much. Neutral jumps are good too. As mentioned, EX Hayate gets through and EX Command Grab has armour... But you do have the fastest dash speed in the game. If it goes air to air, your j p has good priority. In the rare occasions I play sim, I do like the meaty flame, especially against characters with poor wakeup options like Abel, Makoto, other sims, Sakura, Cody, Blanka, Bison. Moreso on the last few if they don't have meter
Learning to beat fireball spammers with a non-projectile character is a very difficult skill to learn. Most characters have their tricks though. They usually have a projectile invincible move like Marseilles Roll, Quick Spin Knuckle, Lariat, etc
I agree...certain characters are better though such as Cammy and Yun to projectile spammers. I would think Vega would also be pretty good.
I smacked around this spammy Akuma with my Abel this morning... I was pretty happy. Gief probably has the worst time with fireballs, for good reason
those are actually my favourite matches with makoto. focus the fireballs then dash, wait. most spammers also aren't accustomed to the amount of heavy pressure from makoto. if you hold down, hold focus to focus a fireball, then df (which dash-cancels the focus), f+SP, you can get a focus-dash-ex dash-punch that'll reach across the screen. Fun stuff.
Try finding some nashberry videos here of him using makoto http://www.youtube.com/user/nashberry82?nomobile=1 Here you will find many many videos of makoto vs every kind of players. This guy is pretty good and you can learn alot. http://www.youtube.com/user/BrilliantBravura?nomobile=1
I'd say Honda has the worst pain against spammers... At least Gief has Green hand/lariat to deal with it I think Makoto is hard too, but at least she has a fast FA dash... Honda has nothing but jumps... The ONLY thing he can do is nj P and move forward a little
