Hard Mode: Tiger Uppercut, FADC, Kara Tiger Knee, FADC, Ultra slrc Mode: Tiger Uppercut, FADC, Kara EX Low Tiger Shot, Ultra (Start with back to the wall)
Maths... it all depends on how you interpret the ''13% RQ'' what I did was, there should have been an extra 13% usage. Therefore I times the total usuage by 1.13 giving him an extra 13% usuage time. Your method was basically saying the current usage is only 87% of the actual usage hence you divided by 0.87
Not a lot of Bison tries to execute his dash-in specials, props to that! BTW I have done the DJ dash-in ultra on a Sagat b4 and caught him fireballing don't we enjoy seeing those technically challenging moves?
Hi, I'm new to these boards and have been attracted to join since this seems to be, from my findings, the most active board for SFV. Have been hooked onto this game for a while and am starting to clear single player mode on gruelling with ease under 12 minutes. Thus, I decided to move on and delve into the cruel world of multiplayer. Having played previous iterations of Street Fighter, I know this is where the game truly begins... in many senses of the phrase. Just a few questions that I hope some of you people might deign kind enough to answer so that I can size up the current metagame: 1) What is the most commonly used character in online play? Most commonly used as in most common across the entire spectrum of players, skilled or scrub, regular or infrequent, ragequitter or not. Is it still Ken? 2) Is there a tier list or a list of strong characters in this version of the game that I have to watch out for/maybe even pick up? I rotate between Sagat, Gief and Akuma.
I have multiple secret names on US and in the last 2 weeks, Moe, Ches, PB, and Towlkin have all RQ on me So funny that they RQ on the noobs if they lose There are still some legit BN guys though such as Saxxo, you, Manu, and Killyin. Never RQ on my secret accounts
Hi Axis, welcome to the dojo! Glad you're taking on multiplayer, and hopefully you won't get too frustrated with all the ragequits (ppl disconnecting just as they're about to lose). 1) I commonly see Sagat, Akuma. I use C.Viper, and on the rematch, I'll often see counterpicks of M.Bison, Cammy, or Zangief. Ryu, Guile, Ken, Honda come up occasionally. The remainder usually only come up from specialists: Yun, Balrog, Makoto, Cody, Chun, Sim, Vega, Abel, C.Viper. And then Sakura and Deejay rarely show up. 2) I think we've tried (and debate) on the tier list time and time again. Everyone has varying opinions. Except Sagat is S-tier. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2647700&postcount=33860 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2647562&postcount=33838 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2647054&postcount=33794 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2052528&postcount=8035 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2646190&postcount=33757 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2645784&postcount=33741 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2645956&postcount=33747
I don't know if I've seen either of those in online play. Any replays? Welcome to TA Axis. To answer your questions, the most common characters online, IMO, are Sagat, Akuma, Ryu and Bison. I see them all day long in this game. You'll also see a lot of Blankas, Giefs and Guiles, along with a few others. As for tier lists, yeah, there are a bunch floating around. Personally, I think there's Sagat and Bison at the top, and then there are a bunch of lower tiers.
Sagat, Akuma, Ryu, Ken are the most used characters. Top tier in my opinion Sagat, C.Viper, Akuma and Ryu You can pick up some matches with the people in this board. Many of the people here are very good and you can learn alot.
Thanks everyone! I'm glad my Sagat and Akuma are up there... especially Sagat! I guess the learning curve is less steep for me this time round. I still remember my first forays into 2D fighting games... *shudders*. Any tips on getting some solo practice done with Sagat and Akuma before I get my feet wet? Or is getting my feet wet immediately the best idea? Seems like the consensus is Sagat, Akuma, (and a side serving of Bison, Ryu and OF COURSE KEN) are the most common contenders. Any tips to deal with them specifically? Best if put from a Sagat or Akuma player's perspective. General ideas will do, I don't ask for anything more. Sorry if I'm asking for too much with my queries... >.<
I'm a nobody with a crappy record, so many of these "good players" RQ on me as well. Then they go on BN and act as if they're Volt's upstanding citizens. Haha.
How could you leave Bison off? I agree with Viper to an extent, but she's so much harder to use properly (compared to Sagat, Bison, etc.), so I typically drop her down a level.
Certainly doesn't hurt to get in a few online Friendly matches, since they don't impact your record. If you're running Sagat, I hope you have your [Tiger Uppercut xx FADC, Step Kick, Ultra] combo on muscle memory. Are you also familiar with the Kara-Uppercut/Kara-Tigershot? There's a glitch that lets you cancel the Step Kick within 2-3 frames into any of Sagat's special moves. e.g. tap Forward+K, Forward+SP in super-quick succession. He'll step forward as in the step kick, but will throw an uppercut instead of the kick. Dangerous stuff. Extends his Tiger Uppercut into Ken SRK range.
Well HR did say: So Total - Ranked = RQ 1 - Ranked = 0.13 1 - 0.13 = Ranked Ranked = 0.87 Let's make the math really simple here then... I play 5 matches, win 1, lose 0, and there's 4 ragequits. Given that there's been rqing for 80% of the time, using your method, it would be (1+0)*1.8 = 1.8 matches... Then my way: (1+0)/(1-0.8) = 5 matches. With a larger ragequit percentage, the difference really shows.
I certain can pull off that combo upon command and when obvious opportunities present themselves, it results in a world of pain and perhaps a wonderful comeback opportunity for me to enjoy as well. However, I'm not to the level of muscle memory yet. I can't do it at the flick of a switch and I miss less-than-obvious opportunities where an otherwise keener player might pounce on. Tried 5 friendly games using my Akuma before my battery went to 22% and I'm 4 - 1. You guys were right... I faced a Sagat and 2 FLOWCHART KEN. I lost to a Gief 1 - 2 but things happen...not bad for a first timer. The old principles of opponent reading and countering still apply as I quickly countered whatever flowcharts Ken players were using. This is only friendly though, but I guess I can pat myself on the back for not being on the bottom of the pile despite being new and fresh. One issue I have is that the execution is very off-key in online gameplay. I'm starting to think I take the fluidity of the single player experience for granted. Lagged out diagonal hadoukens, failed BnBs... all made my win margins smaller than I would like and it cost me a game vs the Gief as I was operating on lag and his SPDs were on point. Back to the training room for me. Thanks everyone, I'd stay here more often, I anticipate!
Good to see fresh faces! Most important is to have fun. The best way I learnt was to add people here and play them.
