Sounds sort of like he was before his nerf. Totally agree. Guys like Rog, Abel and Honda have such a tough time getting close to Akuma.
Lolwut, For rog is not that hard to keep up w akuma, even w high level run away Akumas like elion had trouble keeping me out of his safe zone, but for Abel and Honda this is true because the dont have turn around punches or headbutts...
You guys a missing the point on what a tier list really is. Snooper's list posted by mooken is the correct way to create a tier list. Just by 1 matchup you cant tell if a character is higher tier than the other. The sum of all matchups creates the ranking on the list. Example Ryu might be better than viper but viper has more better matchups than ryu does. Its not about what character beats which. If you really want to make a tier list you have to do it like snooper did. All other list not done with a table = estimate and not valid. Though i would fix some of snoopers matchups. But i dont think any positions would change. Also each matchup number is an opinion.
I don't find headbutts as effective against Akuma because of all the tools he has. Turn punches are effective but are predictable. If you see a Rog throw out a jab from across the screen, it's no surprise when you see the turn punch. Also, ex specials are good options to get in on typical FB spammers, but Akuma has his down + SP fireball that requires no meter and > Rog's ex specials. As for Capt's point, I think everyone understands the tier list concept but the discussion always leads to discussions of specific matchups. Any way you look at it, the tier lists are opinions and not technically valid.
Is Eric Appleseed one of us? J6U is that u? Played a good Makoto today and sent me mails saying he wants "first to ten" while I only had 8 wins... LOL I m not cocky like App to do win quits but somehow it DC after my 8th win...
Do you guys remember sf2 rainbow? Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSyiKZvaS-w It may be sorta fun for a change.
Not true at all. Meter just doubles all his options, which he already has an insane amount of. The one thing the Vega is actually hindered by without meter is his AA, because without meter it has to be done preventively, super early. Deejay's AA is his only strength over Vega. I'm cool with people saying Vega's low-tier, but I'm pretty sure people only think that because most people don't use him correctly. He has options to combat every character and play style. More options than any other character in the game except Akuma and Bison. And with meter those options are doubled. He has decent damage output, good normal range, great walk speed, dash recovery, and focus attack, and is really great for mind tricks. His ultra is also awesome. Not many set-ups for it, only Cosmic Heel > Ultra, or Jumping Kick > Ultra, but that's not where it's awesomeness lies. It's super fast, goes almost full screen, and is super good as a counter. Any air normal? Ultra can beat that! Any projectile from close-to-mid screen? Ultra can beat that! The majority if the cast's ultras, if you do it right after them? Ultra can beat that! AND! Quite a few people's ultras STILL lose to mine, even if they do theirs right after me! Oppononent is one the ground with 1% life? I get a free chip win, even if he has counter ultra. The main problem with all his options though is that one specific option is usually the best against whatever character he's playing against, and if the opponent takes that option away, he's at a disadvantage. For example: Flying Barcelona Attack beats Sagat's uppercut in 4/5 situations. Sagat sucks against Vega. But if Sagat jumps backwards and stop the FBA mid-air with a punch, I'm left with very few ways to get in. And that's why Vega's definitely not top-tier. When his best options are taken away, he has to rely on mind tricks, which is more about playing the player than it is about playing the character. Vega is a fantastic character for mind tricks, so that helps, but only as much as much as the player knows how to utilize him for that. I always consider Vega solid mid-tier. He has way more options and ways to play against every other character than Dee Jay does, who only has the same one or two play styles no matter what. He's got just as many good matchups as he does bad matchups, even amongst top-tier characters, and usually has some advantage over every character he faces. He's definitely not low tier. But, if the oppononent knows that advantage and prevents you from using it, you're at a disadvantage regardless of matchups. So he's definitely not high-tier either. He's a wacky, but solid mid-tier.
guys im just curious here, what method do the top players use to control this game? Holding iphone, or is using a controller of some sort prefered?
i may install an offline version of AE just to mess around with this. Sounds like silly fun! Also, check out ONI SAKURA.
No way is Vega low tier. I think he is a solid mid-tier. If he has a decent AA, he'd be high tier for sure. I was convinced of this after playing you, FINIX, and some crazy Japanese mofo.
I agree, mid tier. Definitely higher than deejay, chun Li, and makoto. I thought Vegas anti air was his flip?
Now that I think of it, he's probably also above Sim. Vega players are tricky. I rarely lose a Sim though.
I think tier list is based on who you main: if I main Sagat, Abel is tier C; if I main Honda, Abel is tier B, just a example
Tier list As Capt mentioned, the official way to do the tier list is from data. Need a bunch of good players who each play their mains and let them fight against each other. The win ratio for each specific match up will be recorded and an accumulative point will be calculated for each character. And so it is important to have (1) skilled players, as much as possible. (2) A large amount of data, for accurate tier list The current situation in volts is not good enough for a valid tier list. We just don't have enough good players for EVERY character. This should be enough said about the tier list.
...yeah but it plays at least a small percentage to the overall win-loss thing that tier lists are made of. My god...it's that Blanka I saw on YouTube :-O Fap fap fap fap. Best tier list ever!! OFCOURSE ZANGIEF WOULD BE A TIER - You're a Guile ho who can keep him out all week!! The rest of us get slaughtered guessing his 50/50 gameplay!! I also agree with Adam and Kaboom that SP on/off would make for different tier lists because people plain suck at execution on Volt (bar some crazy mofos out there). Hahahahaha joker!! I prefer Boxer > Dictator Vs Akuma thanks to Turnpunch, headbutt, ultra and Ex moves. Yeah it does suck for Abel and Honda... Yeah you're probably right....but I reckon even the mighty Snooper's list would alter a bit if all played off-off in a lag free environment. Let's call it the US SP on Laggy crap tier list XD No App, you're just straight up legendary XD I wish I winquit as bossly but I'm not. The best method to play this game is to imagine you're playing the drums with your balls, the drums being your P,K,F and SP. That's what the background music is for, SF is basically a fighting game version of Guitar hero. Also it doesn't hurt to use the force to improve your gameplay. YES I 100% agree!! Vega is sick in this game if you put the time into him. -9 is the guy you're talking about on JP server, he is disgustingly good at this game with Vega, makes the tier list look stoopid. @HIEU: You dirty dog!! Why you tryin' to add my GF on Facebook!? XD
Ok...Well that was a waste of a quote on your part. I just asked what method the top players used to control this game. For all I know theres a certain third party controller and anyone who doesnt use it is a noob. Or people just use the touch controls like normal.
Holding iphone. = touch controls are just fine. Loo up on youtube volt videos with inputs displayed in the video.
