The top 2 rogs who aren't computers are Photahnics and Hopelessfromhell.

But Photahnics has been trolling the jap server with characters like Blanka....

Good to see you posting here with us Photahnics. You're welcome to join our team and ditch those DD people....

You still got that Balrog technology no one else knows?? =P
I remember you charging forward and unleashing ultras with Balrog, me thinking "WTF is this guy on!?" XD
Celine butts in: (posh voice) "Actually Xion you dirty noob, it's rather simple you see..." hahahaha! XD
I remember you trying to teach me but I just never grasped any of your advice =S

    You forgot Me and Vaceotyn!!!!!
There were quite a few other good Boxer players:
Nero/Nair, OldChin, Eric....I don't think TenOnez's boxer is up to par yet...maybe in a couple of years? =P jk. I think I remember a few really impressive ones from jap server too like Davitguetta (something like that) and MB something...

Volt needs way more boxer players...gonna make a vid in the summer on how to own with him/do the fundaMENTALS.

TenOneZ gave up Rog...he was tired of winning 99% of his matches. He decided to give everyone a chance and use a low tier character. So he now only wins 95% of his matches with Yun

    TenOnez = SF Chuck Norris??

    Hahahahaha ZACTLY!!
4% of those people actually manage to beat TenOnez's Yun are those who:
    1. Pick Sagat and Zangief
    2. Spam forward SP and Up SP (respectively), get a counter hit + ultra
    3. Play TenOnez in his sleep XD

The other 1% is when God, Allah, Jahova, the Greek Gods and Buddah share a controller to play him Hahahahaha!! Sometimes they win...

Does TenOnez have a beard? If so we could easily make some legendary ChuckOnez jokes!! XD

    Firty?? Dat autocorrect!?
I'll take it either as filthy or flirty, both a true when gf is home XD

I tried to do this soooo many times only to fail!! Aaaaaargh!!

Yup Shane I remember u too w that blanka, jibba ur sim is a pain in the ass for my rog lol

"charge b, then forward twice, back, forward + sp"

Instead of forward twice I press F and go forward then finish the rest...and yea tenz yun is pretty epic, we were pretty evened out when I used rog gainst his yun, I'm actually maining yun atm after using rog for so long, I was trying to get a spot on that 1st Bp ranked page but I got ####ed over after 4.1k Bp...jap ranked looks more promising as there are less bp "hackers" on ranked page but I don't feel like doing that all over again.

I've never eaten pho...I'll skip over the next 2 questions and I would most likely use chopsticks so I could get the full PHO experience..

You know I will! Or I'll try lol! xD

Actually I've been playing more Bison lately in AE. Guile just feels off to me somehow. He's not terrible but I have more trouble playing with him than I do Bison.

    And Hieu you're insane! xDD

So not that tiers really matter but I was wondering if there was a general community consensus on a Volt tier list. Or like we could all post our personal ones and compile them. I mean sp assist on btw. I'm really interested in seeing one or putting one together.

I see there's quite some talking about good Rogs. My Rog is so rusty now, that I don't think I could compete, but the Rog vs Rog match is so fun I hope to get a mirror fight with one of you. I play the orange Rog in honor of Rofuu that kicked my ass bad a few times on AE when Rog was my main.

    Dash Buffers

So after Xion & HR talked about photahnics' focus-dashcancel-ultra for Balrog, I decided to go into the lab.

I think most people are familiar with the focus-dashcancel-straight punch from Balrog/boxer, or focus-dashcancel-sonicboom from Guile. You can actually input the special move command during the last few frames of the dash animation, and the move will come out immediately after the dash animation is done!

I think the easiest characters to see this with are Balrog, Deejay, Yun, and Abel.

    Example 1, Balrog.
    Hold & Charge downback.
    Tap & Hold Focus.
Tap & Hold toward (to cancel out of the Focus)
Tap P (while still holding toward) during the landing frames of the dash.
This gives you a dash straight punch right out of the dash, no lag between moves.

    Example 2, Deejay.
    Hold & Charge downback.
    Tap & Hold Focus.
Tap & Hold toward (to cancel out of the Focus)
Tap SP (while still holding toward) during the landing frames of the dash.
This gives you a full-screen dash-ex-sobat without lag in between.

    Example 3, Yun.
    Hold & Charge downback.
    Tap & Hold Focus.
Tap & Hold toward (to cancel out of the Focus)
Tap SP (while still holding toward) during the landing frames of the dash.
This gives you a dash-instant command grab without lag in between.

    Example 4, Abel.
    Hold & Charge downback.
    Tap & Hold Focus.
Tap toward (to cancel out of the Focus)
Tap toward during the landing frames of the dash.
This gives you a very smooth double-dash, without lag in between.

This dash-buffer lets you buffer in:
    - any special moves, i.e. hadokens, sonic booms, honda ex headbutt, flash kicks
    - forward dashes (focus, tap toward, tap toward on landing frames) and back dashes (focus, tap back, tap back on landing frames). You can even do focus-dashforward-dashback -- this looks especially smooth on Guile. that man is a dancer.
    - ultra/super by extension
x does not work on instant air moves
x does not work on command moves and normals

Some character have large buffer windows than others. You can test this out easily by doing the focus-toward-toward or focus-toward-back-back to see their animation frames.
Larger buffer windows & smooth animations (empirically):
Ryu, Ken, Makoto, Yun, Balrog, Deejay, Abel, Honda
Smaller buffer windows & awkward/stuttering dash animations:
    Fei, Zangief, Bison, Sagat, Akuma

    Character-Specific Uses:

Sakura - smooth dash, medium window
    Dash-tatsu? Dash-EX-Shouken?

Ryu - smooth dash, large window
Not too many uses, just Dash-FB or Backdash-FB, maybe Dash-EXTatsu?

Honda - smooth dash, large window
    Dash-Oichi
    Dash-Dash-Oichi
    Dash-Squat
    Dash-EX-Headbutt

    Blanka- jerky dash, small window
    Dash-lightning?

    Guile- smooth dash, small window
    Dash-Ultra
    Dash-Sonic/EX-Sonic (fireball wars!)
    Dash-Flashkick for cross-under-autocrrect maybe?
Dash-backdash looks so smooth. That footwork.

Balrog/Boxer - smooth dash, large window
    Dash-overhead smash! Looks sick.
Dash-Straight or Dash-Low. Useful against fireball spammers.

Sagat - mediocre dash, medium window
Couldn't think of many practical applications.
    Kara-moves don't buffer.

Yun - smooth dash, large window
    Dash-Shoulder
    Dash-CommandGrab
    Dash-Upkicks

    Ken- smooth dash, large window
Can't think of good uses =/

    ChunLi- smooth dash, moderate window
Didn't play around with it too much.
Dash-fireball and Dash-flipkick come to mind though.

Zangief - jerky dash, small window
    Back-dash greenhand is smooth.
    Forward dash is really janky.

Dhalsim - dash is too slow for double dash, small window.

    Vega/Claw- Jerky dash, moderate window
    Dash-rollingclaw
    Dash-Walljump
    Dash-flipkick doesn't work.
    Dash-backflip
His backflip doesn't let you buffer on recover

Bison/Dictator - Moderate dash, small window
    Dash-Scissors
    Dash-Headstomp
    Dash-torpedo
Teleport also lets you buffer! Try holding back, roll to upback+SP, buffer in back+SP on teleport recover.

Fei - Jerky dash, medium window
You'll see how bad this is when you dash-rekka or dash-command grab.
    There's a HUGE weird pause. =(

    Cammy- smooth dash, medium window
Couldn't think of a lot of great uses.

    Deejay- smooth dash, large window
    Dash-EX-Sobat gets you full screen
    Dash-sonicboom

    Viper- moderate dash, medium window
Dash-seismo has too much animation lag in between.
Dash-ground-burnkick is alright, as is Dash-TK

Abel - smooth dash, large window
Marseilles Roll lets you buffer as well!! But only during the frames where Abel is crouching and paused at the end. :(
    Dash-TornadoGrab
    Dash-Dash-TornadoGrab
    Dash-Dash-Marseilles-TornadoGrab
    Dash-Rekka

Cody - smooth dash, large window
    Dash-Ruffian Kick
    Dash EX-Tornado

Akuma - jerky dash, medium window
Backdash is good. Backdash-demonflip buffers nicely.
Forward dash, double forward dash both look awful.

Makoto - smooth dash, large window
    Dash-command grab
    Dash-Dash-Command Grab

Will be glad to hear about other ppl's experience and ideas on uses.

    edit:
Makoto - Dash EX hayate (full screen range)
    hold down
    tap/hold focus
    do QCF
    tap SP on recovery animation

OK, while messing around with Sagat's kara-focusdash-SRK.
I wasn't hitting it clean -- in fact, i was step-kick, hitting focus too late (so step kick comes out), but then SRK comes out immediately after.

    Wait what?

During any normal move, it lets you buffer a special or a dash, and will execute it on completion of your animation!

    Example:
    Viper.
Stand Kick (whiff), tap SP on last few recovery of the Stand Kick. Her TK will come out automatically once available. Likewise doubletap back on the last few recoveries of the stand kick, and she'll backdash.
You use that exact same timing on Stand Kick, Stand Kick, and it won't work and buffer.
Haven't figured out the implications yet.

edit: one practical use - resets with command grabs. e.g. honda jump kick, standing P, then toward+SP during last few recovery frames of the standing P. It'll snatch up, and you won't have to deal with the strict timing or accidental fasthands.

edit 2: So thinking about this a bit more, I believe this "recovery buffer" mechanic is the same one that allows us to backdash or SRK on wake-up at the first available frame, by inputting commands just before we wake up. I think we all know about that, but we haven't really explored to what extent this buffer is available.

I use blankas focus dash cancel to special all the time. He can cancel into balls, super, or ultras.
