fu1star if you are looking for some practice, I'm always down. I don't quit on anyone and I have a pretty nasty right hook, I'm told.
Why does everybody think Akuma is cheap? I've never had a problem against him. He's my main, but I don't feel cheap playing him. Not at all. All of his strong attacks and combos are only really useful when somebody attacks him and f***s it up. The characters are all pretty balanced if you know how to use them. I like fighting Zangief sometimes because he's so slow and predictable. As long as I don't screw up, he generally won't touch me. Once I mess up, though... ouch Edit: And, yes, he really took me out in two moves that time. It was round two and his meters were full. Akuma's health is pretty crappy, so that had a lot to do with it.
What characters are those? forgive me I'm out of touch when it comes to the latest console versions of the last couple years... especially since I skipped the PS3 and XBOX consoles. tbh up until SFIV on iPhone, the last time I played street fighter was Alpha 3 Max on the PSP. I've always loved the series so its no surprise that SFIV was one of the main reasons why I chose the iPhone 4 over other smartphones.
Thunder Hawk - probably just as well as the full circle moves are painful on the iPhone controls. El Fuerte - again some moves would be a right pain Seth Dan - just as well, another projectile guy Rufus Rose - she would be cool to have! Gen Gouken Then there's a handful more from the Super - Arcade Edition, and of those, Ibuki would probably be my pick to have on iPhone .
Damn, too bad that other match lagged out. All I have to say Nullroar, is that I hope someone else gets lucky and knocks you out of the tournament. Because 1-6 is terrible odds for me GG's though. First Blanka I've played that wasn't annoying as f*ck, but somehow still good at the same time.
I dont use Zangief, but hes not cheap at all imo. Yes, he his command grabs are good and he has alot of life but his normals arent that damaging and hes so slow. I play Sagat sometimes, Zangief is by far his easiest matchup. But Akuma is cheap. Air fireball and teleport runaway tactics are just too cheap. All of the characters are pretty balanced I guess, but some stand out as being pretty bad, like sakura, vega and dee jay. Im working on yun at the moment, hes a bit harder to play than other characters but I think itll pay off. Ill post another tier list update in a few days when im more familiar with yuns matchups. Kinda disappointed that they put Feis fierce rekka instead of jab (it is his fierce right?).
If it wouldn't have lagged you probably would have beaten me. My Ryu was getting manhandled. I guess I have to train harder, as he might say Thanks for the Blanka compliment - usually the big green guy gets nothing but hate. : ( I actually got a "friend request" today telling me what a horrible cheater / camper / suxxorz etc. I am for *gasp* sliding under the fireballs of some guy I was playing. But yeah, I'll probably be eliminated pretty quickly. Some of the folks here are beast.
It's funny how differently people will see the characters. I said before I don't think Akuma is cheap at all. I also think Sakura is downright dangerous in the right hands. She's my number two right now. Why so many people think Ken is the sh*t is beyond me. He's easy to use, but I think he lacks when you actually get good and fight decent opponents.
Akuma isn't cheap at all IMO. He drops hard from a few hits and gets dizzy fast. All you have to do is bait his attacks out and punish him for it.
I've seen some players who just keep jumping back and air-kicking with honda and makoto I don't remember the last time I used Akuma's teleport. He's actually great fun as a rushdown character. Air fireballs make for great offensive shields, like a guile/chunli/deejay fireball, and you can chase it and follow w high-low mixups.
I agree. The teleport is pretty worthless against anybody decent. It's good to avoid a fireball when you know blocking it will take you out, but it rarely pays off. It's useful against Zangief, but that's about it. A good Bison can usually destroy a good Akuma. Fu1star can vouch for that. He kicked my ass earlier today. A good Bison who can't be baited is without question my toughest opponent.
Wish I knew what some of these icons mean. Im posing a flower right now, all proud. Also i just got a Sakura flying through the sky, not sure why.
