The first time I played SF IV I tried with Ken because he was my favorite SF character. I gave up with him because even with his fame of being flashy, I felt him pretty slow. Then I tried with Ryu but didn't convince me. After this I tried with Guile at first because one single reason: Guile's Theme. Then I figured that he was nice with combos and normal moves. When Volt came out I still used Guile. At one point I wanted to use other characters and I focused on Makoto, but I got desperate by her walk speed. Now I still main Guile but I became better with most of the roster and 80% of the times I will prefer using any character but Guile. I guess my best characters are Zangief, DeeJay, Akuma, Ryu, Cammy, Blanka and Fei Long. I've never played with SP and Autoblock on, because from the first time I didn't find any trouble with the manual execution.
Well... I started playing sf2 with my Bro. I forgot who I used, but I think I tried using everyone except charge characters. They don't really make sense for 6-8 year olds. Later on, I started playing SFIV with my Bro, cause it was da shdizzle my nizzle. He used Vega and Guile, and transitioned into Guile and manily M.Bison. I used Sagat, cause he was overpowered. It was after around 2-3 years of SF on my iPod Touch, that I finally just played casually, and used everyone. During the 2-3 years, I started by pkaying around with dojo. I also watched pro games, like poongko's seth perfect on Daigo, and other stuff. Reading eventhubs, being on forum, and yah. Once I got comfortable with FADC, which is quite the hurdle. (Try teaching it to someone who doesn't play, it's impossible) So, yeah, I got everything down. Commands, I got down while playing SFIV with my bro, and fadc on ios, since you don't have to double tap to dash for focus attack. (Really Capcom?) Once I got familiar and comfortable with Sagat and Shoto people, (SP Assist literally carried me, since I only complained about controls) I got familiar with more things, like invincibilty, (freakin OP SRK characters) frames and safe and unsafe moves, which was what led me into frames in the first place. Resets, were done by reading eventhubs. So yeah, watch and play, and read up, and not be a dumbass took me far. Then when volt came out, I spazzed out then got comfortable with everyone. It's hard to master people, when you can't play SF Volt all the time, and not play with people online, since it lags like a bitch. So I was stuck playing the AI. Got comfortable with everyone now. I sorta know the character specific tricks, it's not too hard to remember. So yeah, fun stuff. I plan on just chilling and playing anyone else with AE since SF Volt lags too much, and people who don't need autoblock, (Not saying psx, but people on the same level as him) still use it. (???) (Take it like a man) So yeah. And I finally crossed the hurdle of fadcing for evil ryu, I can do srk into ultra, just not comfortably in matches. Just ask Capt. Yadier. I just spammed SRK throughout the match. Fun stuff though. Yaaaahhhhhhh. If somehow SF Volt was frame by frame not laggy, I would challenge ally'all to a fight. Give beatdowns. (maybe) I can be too predictable at times. AI doesn't really help in that case. FA x 999 and they still stand still. I think I know every non-frame thing for all characters. I think. Not counting move names either.
Quite some nice personal stories up here I guess most of us know the SF2 characters really well, even that SF4 is my first street fighter. It is interesting to know that some of you choose to play off/off on the V-pad. Personally I find it extremely hard for non-charge characters to play SP off, the V-pad just don't read my inputs correctly >:/ However I play AE too (off/off obviously) and have no problems executing and blocking manually! I am not gonna judge if you have on/on because I do have those on too But,indeed, for the proper console version or arcade: off/off is the only way to play SF! It's just the v-pad is retarded... P.S. I just got the funniest RQ ever... Me Yun vs some Akuma Him: Prepare yourself!!! Me: Dive kick right in the raging demon's face!!! Him: (stunned) This will never be uploaded!!! Raging Home Button!!!
Who did I start off with...Sagat I believe. I used to LOVE that guy, nothing better than having one of the tallest characters who wins a lot and looks down at your opponent. However I had to stop using him because that's these other cheap players did and I didn't want to be like them so I started to learn my next favourite: BALROG :-D Playing as boxer (especially in mirrors) is so much fun but hard too. I then learnt how to play with charge and picked up Bison and Blanka (but not Honda). When talking about my favourite characters in SF Volt I say: BBB = Bison, Blanka, Balrog.
Yes, the stats are suspicious, but he never RQ on me. On a side note, how can one have 3700 bp and be a RQuitter? It is penalized. This evening (GMT+1) I'll probably make a private lobby on AE on PS3 with a friend to have some fun. I'm not entirely sure that I'll actually do it (sorry...) and of the time (9 I guess), but if somebody is online drop me a message. My PSN user is zomarz9.
There are ways to do it, by screwing around with game files and stuff. I don't know enough about that but I'm sure it's still possible. On a side note, I've been derping around on the BN and it's not as bad as I used to think. Maybe my tolerance is high or something. And I played on ranked for the first time in ages. It's still the same, speaking of quality, but I forgot the feeling of playing on ranked: knowing that you have something to lose (even when the things you lose are crappy points) is a little pressure, but still I got fun. I won about 15 and lost 4, so the BPs went waaaaay down. I hope the app crashes stay in the friendly matches (if someone with the same problem knows if this happen on ranked too, let me know). Also I want to ask if iOS 6.x users have issues when you invite iOS 5.x users to play and vice-versa, and if jailbreak devices have to do with this. I've been experimenting problems with this too.
There is this guy I meet sometime, I think the user is erik4good or something, with 99999bp and he plays horribly. I'd like to meet him on ranked. Last time I played ranked I moved from 1500bp to 2500bp in half an hour and then I lost everything on a small set with a guy with very low bp. He played abel and he could throw me always in the middle of a blockstring (which wasn't a true blockstring due to his lag!). I wanted to give him a sf lesson but ended up getting kicked hard. Being obsessed is not a good thing for me...
We got to play again in June my Mexican whore Balrog and co vs Guile army. I can't be bothered to change location...because I'm too busy getting off XD jk I'm just too lazy + I like it.
The first 2 or 3 rqs aren't penalized. After that, they are and you get only paired against quitters. I think unplugging the modem still doesn't count as a disconnect. His W/L is pretty suspect. Even the best of the best have 90% win rate. Even above 80% with a lot of matches is hard to maintain
But I suck with him off/off. Sadly, I got too spoiled with SP and need it to beat good players (to be fair, most use SP so ...). But I have a lot more appreciation for SP off players now. And it extended the shelf life of the game.
Thanks man. Good to be back. Work is keeping me very busy and for the first time ion a lions time I've been playing a few other games hope you're doing well.
#IKnowHeis I'm surprised it was your Abel that gave me so much trouble D4! He's supposed to be one of the easiest characters for me to beat, but I guess you know that matchup really well. Ended up being a pretty demoralizing loss for me, I felt really salty afterwards. GGs all around dude! Next time we meet in friendlies you can bet I won't be missing my command grab like I was today. >: )
Disconnecting still works. I hadn't played for almost two months until jumping on for a few matches last night. The first person I ran into was a guy named Public Petrol that used Sagat. I'm so used to SFxT and it made Volt seem really, really fast. Losing my habits from SFxT was tough (Sim's footsies are much better in SFxT, his standing kick is great, and his flame/fire are reversed with SP on, which I used since I was out of practice). Anyway, I lost a squeaker in the first match and was a little salty. We played a rematch and it wasn't close. The second round took me awhile to get to him, but with 10 seconds left and losing by a ton, he just walked away from me to his corner and I knew it was coming. He disconnected his modem and walked away scot free (I checked BN afterward to make sure). Also, some players just backup their stats and then restore after a loss. All of these cheaters are losers.
Haha, word. I was suprised I didnt get grabbed that often during those games. You usually do a pretty good job of shutting down my focuses like that. We'll run it back soon.
