This is the first chance I've had in the past few days to chat on TA, I'm not just here because we're talkin about SP off.

Getting good at SP off won't come over night like getting good with SP on...you gotta take it one session at a time, working on small aspects of your game.

    Start with simple links...
When I started playing Sakura I would just work on getting my stand P - Shouoken perfected, then I would go to the practice room and practice combos I had seen the crazy japs do and then come back to online.

    Use other characters...
Lower tier (non-charge characters) are great for the SP off discipline are better to use as you don't have the backup of high hp and tons of invincibility frames.
Once you get good and you become quite fast, try and use Akuma in the practice room, why? Because he requires a shit tonne of motions, fast hands, variations in timing and you'll find that you get better with other characters after (with SP off).

    Online lag...
    Requires you to:
Make slight changes to your combos,
Cope with a mix bag of timing (live with it),
Get some serious experience in pulling off combos - no button bashing.

    Understanding opponents inputs...
Doing this for a while will probably give you a better idea of what people are doing when playing.
@Leonel: I'm always intrigued to watch you play in replays, you are really doing some crazy shit sometimes!! I remember a rep of you doing a forward P with Guile, your opponent was already jumping at you and you activated ultra...WTF!!!

Jibba trust me you'll enjoy playing SP off alot more, you'll actually feel like YOU are playing rather than the game playing by itself.

    One tip I'll share...
When ever I get knocked down with Sakura and I have 1 ex bar, I always do dragon punch MOTION, BUT if the opportunity isn't there to actually use it I won't press the SP button for Ex Shouoken.
Same thing goes for when I combo with Sakura, if I jump in (with p or k), I do standing p and immediately dragon punch motion BUT I watch to see if the hit has been confirmed AND THEN press p to activate Shouoken.

Slow down your motions. If you jam it too fast, it can miss.

I'm a trashy Cammy player lol I wouldn't take my own advice XD
I guess you gotta figure her out and teach me! :p

    As for input lag...
When you get the spike IT'S ALL ABOUT REACTIONS, e.g. Just now I was playing a ken with Sakura and was punishing his uppercut, I did crouch heavy punch, tatsu, THEN THE LAG KICKED IN AND THE SCREEN STOOD STILL, I was constantly pressing P until then the game resumed, the punch connected and I quickly did the dragon punch to finish the combo. Not gonna lie though, maybe 40-70% of the time shit goes against you. That's what you get for playing honestly.

Hey Capt thanks for the sharing! Seems like indeed only way to beat a Geif is to zone them with Seismic, of cos we are always vulnerable when they manage to escape our zoning.. Norm high kick timing r so hard to grasp but is a safer option against their body splashes compared to heavy electric punch!

Shall ask some Gief buddies to help train me again to try out!
    :D

I notice with cammy, it's easier to combo the cr fp, cr md k (holding k) d,df,f let go k than to press sp on sp on. It's also a bitch to st fp, cannon spike with sp on haha!
Also do u use the shortcut to super/combo or are u all manual?! Hehe cuz I do! But in training i have been practicing manual super after a cr md k...seems easier flow than to press super on top right?

    Ggs saxxo!

The headstomp to the ex fist to physco fist (I think its called) is bisons best combo and even when blocked it does a ton of chip damage.

You did great with your teleporting, just keep up the pressure. Allowing me to charge and build up meter is never a good idea.

Good games Wediafom. I still have NO idea what to do vs. Cammy. xD People say Guile destroys her but I just don't see it. She's so damn fast and once she gets in you're FUBAR (which is an army term, so appropriate for a conversation regarding Guile. ;)

How'd you like my POS Akuma? ;) He's really a fun character to play, he just feels like he weighs 3 tons. Really really sluggish. I wish the Shotos in this game handled more like they do in Third Strike, especially Ken. Playing Ken in 3s is like (what I imagine anyway) driving a nice sports car. But it was fun despite all the lag.

Hahaha, fun matches Docta, always a pleasure playing you:) My Cammy is 3 weeks old and started a fresh profile using her. So far, I am having a blast with her. Thanks to the nasty lag and some luck, Otherwise, there is no way I could have won against your superior Guile.
You did pretty good with Akuma though. Try to do demon flips more and mix up his combos. It's funny because I always thought Akuma was a lighter char, easier to maneuver. One thing I don't like about him is his lower health. Anyway, good games again. Next time we shall have akuma mirror. That should be fun;)

Crouch all day unless they jump. Learn to aa with your normals st p is godly for that. Really make them pay for trying to get close.

yep -- standing kick is fantastic against flying giefs. if they knock you down and try to cross-up body splash when you're getting up -- dash FORWARD on wake-up, and you'll escape.

I usually try to use that crouching uppercut but it trades if I don't do it quickly enough. I guess the ticket is to play pretty lame? I'll have to check your replays. I guess I just play too scared and I need to stop that.
