Oh god this is depressing. My cody is absolute craaaaaaap. My ryu and Guile are even better than my cody.
So I'm working on my SP off Sim full time lately (along with other SP off characters). He's really not made for SP off on Volt but I feel it's improving my game by forcing different styles and less teleports (IATs are completely out). I still support the SP assist in Volt but winning SP off feels pretty good. I posted my first replay against PnOyFoLiFe, who was trolling my SP off Sim in friendlies. http://sf4iv-en.capcom.jp/analytics/replay_download.php?r_id=20120915_08240937_416_E5B5D023_rpdata&d= Any advice to improve with SP off, particularly non-charge characters?
The hardest part I find with SP off sim is landing that damn cr mk xx yoga blast combo. Spamming teleport I don't mind, but damn, hcb motion is haaaard
Yeah, I can't pull that combo off consistently. I couldn't imagine pulling off air teleport x j. kick x cr. kick x flame x super. I think the bigger problem with teleporting SP off (for me) is that it's not instinctive yet. I still have to consciously think about which motion/button will take me to certain spots. That will come with time. Until then I am learning to play Sim very differently from what I'm used to, which can't hurt.
If you can master sim with sp off then I'd give you major props and respect. I tried it and I could never do his b&b combo.
She's more of a poke character really. Everything is too slow to combo for her. I guess crossup kick, sweep is a bnb too. So is medium punch, hazanshu/kikoken. They don't combo, but it is a good way to land chip/damage. Cr.Hp to Kicks work too, but it's sort of hard to do. Just stick with poking I guess. Earlier, Capt also mentioned some bnbs for her, don't forget about them.
Killyin, good games. My play style is zonning players with fireballs and bait them with uppercut when they get close. Some players call it 'spamming' but I show them my middle finger Most Volt players including from TA have complained and moaned about my playstyle being too 'spammy' bla bla. You on the other hand (along few players) have accepted my playstyle and decided to take the challenge, study my strategy. Props to you
Cool, thanks for the add...I dont know about pummel, ive played the game quite a bit recently but am still not very good. Hey we are getting close to being able to have a nice sized little Volt AE lobby on PC now! Yadier, did you figure out why we couldnt connect the other day? I looked through the Faq and couldnt find anything.
You too dude. I've longed believed that there's no such thing as cheap in sf. There's an answer to everything, as long as you're willing to look for it (assuming the game ain't broke - infinite combos in a game without damage scaling for example) so frustrating your opponent is part of the game. That said, if I'm tired and drunk I may not really have the patience and wander off in search of some helpless scrub to thrash (or shamefully lose to) =]
Thanks Killyin. Besides your Abel, you also have a tricky DJ. You use him very well. I will shoot you an invite when I get home.
I think Killyin have indeed 1 never say die gush spirit. Zoning had always been a difficult technic to defeat coming from an experience player. I guess if you play zoning for the win, no one can say that is a lousy way or what especially versus certain characters (their damage are buff), you could hardly get near them to inflict combos or take them down, which many a times getting more exposed to their attack instead. I totally agree with Kill that if we are not in the mood or patience for that kinda play, prolly we just gotto move on and play another day if not simply get whipped! Talking about this, I need some help from you guys on playing Gief. Really really have problem taking that beast down with my Viper... I can throw a million punches and kicks at him, but he just needs an Ultra and a EX Spinning Powerbomb to end my puny life... Any kind souls out there can gimme some tips on how to tackle them???
Have you tried searching for replays on YYOJJO, probably the best Viper in Volt. http://sf4iv-en.capcom.jp/analytics/replay_result.php?c_id=&my_data=&user_data=&p_name=YYOJJO&keyword=&up_user_id=1294368&dl_count=&st_up_date_y=&st_up_date_m=&st_up_date_d=&ed_up_date_y=&ed_up_date_m=&ed_up_date_d=&page=7 He eats up Giefs for breakfast.
Characters who really need to use assistant on to be decent: Viper and Dhalsim. If you want to win battles with non-charge characters, rely on the normals (Ryu's standing kick is safer than an attempt of Shoryuken). If you wish to develop some manual skills, I suggest you to play arcade/free sparring first. Doing the motions correcly in an enviroment with no delay will help you, even if the timing is different. In online battles you might want to crouch a lot for fast special uppercut or fireballs, just try to not abuse of that. It's almost impossible to master Dhalsim without assistant off. Fast air teleports are hard to execute everytime, and his standard combo will end with a back teleport instead of Yoga Flame 98% of the times.
To make the search easier just go to replay search Set it to c.viper and the comment Gief Should show most of my zanguief vs viper matches
