I just picked this game up recently and tried to give it a chance. I can do most of Vegas combos but have yet to find a connection that wasn't less than a little laggy. AA normals aren't reliable due to move latency, safe jumps don't work, and fireballs have an ungodly Guile like recovery making matchups vs Sagat Ken or Akuma 9-1 in their favor. There are no footsies since they need a clean connection hence no real mindgames to speak of. I started winning when I stopped playing "street fighter." I can't get salty because I knew it wouldn't be a real street fighter product. Yet I still get irate whn I lose to jump kick sweep due to trying to hold a charge without jumping (I have American sized thumbs). I saw a guy that was insanely good at pulling off combos on this thing and refuse to spend the time it mustve taken him on this busted game, he deserved all props given. When the only thing I can do to an srk mashing Ken is st. RH (since his recovery is 0 frames), then its time to uninstall the app. /rant I don't know how you guys do it, kudos on dealing with the online.
Good games Shoob, fun matches. It was our first time playing and it was a great match. I missed so many of my combos/super/ultra because of the lag and I am sure you did too play you next time.
Ya it was laggy but it was the most fun laggy game ever! Considering u had to update to play me tells me how long u haven't played YET U STILL kicked my ass a few times! I am afraid how u r on the peak of ur game! It's like playing dr j in the 90s...it's either it was laggy or ur a bit rusty u missed easy chances to kick my ass lol...hope u pick it up and play more...I did...ta is really the only reason y there is still replay value in this OLD game...players in this forum like urself makes this still a fun game..catch ya later and am honored u played me hehe
Sounds like you have a decent amount of SF experience. -I love my aa normals. I bust them out a lot. But big differences exist between this and AE and there are nuances you need to get around. -Safe jumps don't exist to the same level as AE. ambiguous safe jump setups exist and some true setups exist but for akuma only. -Due to the nature of the players, and their determination to brute force games, footsies falls by the wayside. But I can definitely assure you at top level Volt play, footsies and mindgames are a huge part. Have a look at some replays to see what it's like, but I would also see if your hardware is up to scratch if the connection is as bad as you say
Haha, thanks Shoob! I am honored to play your cammy too. You along Apprunner have the two best cammys in volt, seriously Do you also play other chars besides cammy and Ken?
I think the best I can say about Volt is that it still teaches matchups. Of course, the balance is different, but so far punishes seem to be transferable to the console release. For some reason links seem easier on Volt. Is that just me? Does the game run at 60fps? Out of curiosity.
This was me 10 months ago, if you just play casually you'll eventually get used to it. Every so often I am reminded how stupid this game is when some of the reasons you mentioned present themselves
wrong. I was simply building meter with viper. You weren't utilizing your character's way of getting in effective enough so I used that to my advantage. Your statement is a lie. I was not trolling. more replays on my channel (vs kapuutcher) 1. 4 bar combo vs dhalsim (does little damage but still fun) 2. epic ken-rage face at 2nd round (you gotta see it, ken looks so angry)
I play ken as an experiment...he doesn't have air throw so I might abandon that...start to play vega but really cammy all the way no one else really
It was round 3 and you had 3 bars. Run away, super jump over, run away, repeat. I've played this game enough to know when I'm being trolled.
Full meter is more useful than three. More meter is always useful. I play to win. Once again: I am not trolling you. My tactic was working to my advantage. I saw a flaw in your gameplay and opted to tilt the odds in my favor.
I hope this was ranked because playing that way in friendly makes no sense Who cares if you win in friendly...just play for fun.
That's what I was thinking. When people play lame in friendlies, I don't care much about winning or losing. I just want to finish up and move on to a new opponent so I can have some fun. If it's in ranked, then I can sometimes force myself to play lame in response, but even then it can be tough since there's not much on the line in the grand scheme of things.
