That pretty much proves my point. Without sp assist only the best of the best would never drop a combo or miss a move, sp assist makes everyone an s tier player, that's not realistic. People make mistakes and good players will exploit those mistakes but if you minimize those mistakes, not through skill but through assists you are no longer playing on a level playing field especially when you are playing against a character which does not benefit from sp assist. And my challenge to inferno was not to prove I could beat him but rather to prove how much of a gap there is between sp assist on and off, for gief that's a really big gap, for other characters not so much.
Yeah dude, your definitly entitled to your opinion. But imo: SP assist starts you out as C maybe B tier. Once you learn matchups while using SP assist, you could probably make it to A tier. S tier is reserverd for only the best of the best, even with SP on it takes a real unique indivdual to play at S tier status. For example, I have been running into a lot of Ken's on friendly, all they do is wait for right moment and start spamming SRK. You know, that actually is very effective and I am sure they beat a lot of people with that crap. But you, or I, or the majority of TA frequents have upped our game beyond the spam and know how to beat it out. Anyone using SP can spam, but it takes real skills to be able to read, predict, execute, punish, etc. I really understand what your saying, and I do feel some validity to it. Its a function of the game though, unfortunatly. This would make more sense: SF4-3D on the Nintendo 3ds has a shortcut mode where you basically program 4 one touch buttons to any moves you want... well there is a refine setting in match making that allows you to only play people who do not use such assists. I would think that should be an option to fight sp and/or auto block off people only. That would be great.
And I get what you are saying, its a function of the game and I too wish we had options like the DS. And I know that to get to the next level I have to be able to overcome hurdles like geif + sp assist. As a gief player I'm sure you are aware of the frustration players like me feel against giefs like you and inferno
I watched the inputs for a Ken vs. ACE R IN match and WOWZA. That Ken mashed those buttons hard. But... then again, I don't know all about Turbo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZhFn_I7rNg
@Heif: Seems like you and I have totally the same opinion on sp assist! Btw I'm really looking forward to getting head stomped to death by you again in the near future @Shane: I know that you just wanted to prove how big the difference between Gief with sp assist off and on is but it really is nothing new. Everyone here on this board knows that Gief with sp assist off is really hard to play! I accepted your challenge because I just wanted to test how Gief plays with sp assist off. I knew from the start that I would't stand a chance and was surprised to even take some rounds. Gief with sp assist is the easiest character to have success with but one of the hardest to master. Those standard 2k BP Giefs are dangerous but they get slaughtered by good Akumas, Sagats and Sims and I have yet to find another Gief (Cyrus aside) that can even tie with me in mirrors. If you take sp assist away from this game all the S-Tier players would be using charge characters because they would have a ridiculous advantage over the other characters! You just can't compare doing a Z motion on a touch panel to doing it on an arcade stick! I nearly forgot to praise your Blanka! You and Nullroar are the only Blankas thats give me that much trouble. I use Ryu, Guile and Viper as my secondaries and would love to test them against your beast But right now I will get me some sleep....1:50 am already over here Oo
Do you think yyojjo used sp assist? What about tenonez? I don't know, I think we would still seem some s tier, non charge players. Thanks for pissing me off though Anytime you feel like stomping me in some friendlies, hit me up, I promise not to get salty
Shane: Trust me, as a bison player, I get my fair share of gief love.... one false step and your eating an ultra that KO's you. It really is annoying that instead of a circle you press direction and SP for SPD - but its just mechanics of the beast! When using gief, I cant consistantly do that Z motion for EX banishing, I just cant do it on command, sometimes it doesnt come out. Cyrus is another great example, he cant do the motion while on player two side. Sure he could practice (and I am sure he has) but the tactical feel of an actual stick is so much better than a joystick that is already covering your screen lol. Inferno: Lets have some matches soon dude! Its been a while, you have a slightly different style than Cyrus so I am hoping to try some of my other characters against him. I would also like to fight your secondaires
Haha. Shane, you are always salty. Thats part of your charm. Even against people you don't know, you send them salty messages. Lol.
As long as the turbo does 30 inputs/second or less, all of them will be registered (given that the game doesn't slow down to less than 60 frames/second)...
lol I knew kabloowie was you! You and your damn troll account! I rarely send salty messages and when I do its only against good players that quit on me
You imply that Apprunner rage quit on you by saying that. He left after five matches the first time because he had guests.
Yes, but Volt is based more around the build of Super SF4 rather than on AE. Which is why the damage data is higher. Capcom's idea of balancing is systematically taking away all the good tools each character has until everyone sucks, but some character suck more and some suck less.
Thanks Felix. Sorry about that Shane. My dad dropped off my kid and had to open the door on that first set. You kicked my ass on the second. Always fun playing with you. When u get in a zone, you are tough as hell.
? Are you guys hanging out together or something? We played a five set match, he kicked my ass 5-0 We then got matched up again and I believe we went 0-5 to me but he quit during the end of the last match. I didn't know it was him and I was mad that he rage quit on me so I sent him this: "You can dish it out but you can't take it?". I really don't think it's that bad, I've seen and said worse If I knew it was him I wouldn't have said anything because I know he's always got kids hanging on him but when a good unknown player rage quits on you it sucks, especially when you lost to them and you didn't quit.
Haha. That last quit was a little saltiness on my end but my kid was bugging me . Quitting on end on friendly is harmless. No BP lost. . I actually thought you knew it was me. Lots of people recognize my Cammy style Btw, belated good games
Yeah, we are hanging out. You see, we use this cool service called "Hang with people from Antarctica!" Apprunner found me there, and so now he keeps me updated on some of the sheep 'n all.
