I'm really trying to enjoy it. Found a team that I'm sticking with but man, lag is horrible (USA) and lame RQs. Never played KoF. Seems unbalanced and weird hit detection.
The balance is pretty good -- most characters are similar sizes & speed, everyone has the same health, Ultras can't be abused since you need to have specific conditions to trigger them, everyone has a roll + superjump + block-counter ..
I'm liking the no ultras stuff how many bars does ultras use? Will keep trying, It's getting much more fun playing the same chars. They probably suck but oh well.
I am training the hell out of Hwa right now...really liking his style in contrast to Joes. He has some killer combos, a 3x multi-direction arial EX, a DRUNK MODE... Fun character to use, really like his arials. I wonder what the effects of drunk mode are...i guess its a damage buff. edit: Pasted to KOF thread, will try to remain on topic...

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm not liking the price but will see what people think and then maybe consider it. With that many characters it seems like it would be hard to go through them all just to find a couple good fits for my style.
Thanks man. I'll definitely continue to play Volt. Despite it getting old, it's still my favorite iOS game by far. I'm considering KOF but something about paying $7 for KOF when Volt cost me $1 (I can't remember how much I paid for vanilla) doesn't sit well. I actually want to check out that video since I really was impressed with the combo but forgot it over time. And casual or not, you played really well and they were fun. I think we finished pretty even, which generally is a sign of good/close matches. Looking forward to next time.
