yeah i`m too about 95% sure it`s evil ryu, but that would kinda suck! he isn`t at all original, in the end it`s just a hybrid! but if it is him i hope he at least has the second ultra...
Well from what I understood from http://www.capcom.co.jp/iphone/sf4volt_cam/jp/ (Google Translate isn't the best, so it's had to tell what it REALLY says), and if what you said about it is true, it doesn't make sense for it to be Evil Ryu since we all saw that he's in the games code. If you're running a contest, it seems silly to choose something that's relatively easy to find out if you explore the game files. There's also that "reserved" spot which would make more sense... Since even Capcom might not have decided who it was going to be when the game first released. Or it's just Evil Ryu and we're chasing our own tails. The other thing is that maybe Capcom is running this to gauge what characters people really want to see. Say it is Evil Ryu, but they get a torrent of tweets saying people want <insert Character here>, maybe they'll consider adding them in a future update. This is all pure speculation though.

No... I doubt they'd release three characters. If it's Evil Ryu, it'll be Evil Ryu and Fei Long. And if it IS Evil Ryu and Fei Long... Then it sucks that the contest is only in JP
I really wan evil ryu compared to other thou... I guess it might be Dan in reserve p/s: just pray that Capcom doesnt noe about ppl knowing the evil ryu and etc codes in game file xD

Dan, without taunting, is pointless though, that's the thing. And you could add taunting just for him, but with the limited P, K, SP , F buttons, you'd be severely limited with Dan making him even worse than he was in the SFA days (where he was included just to mock another FG franchise). I'd love T. Hawk. But I would be happy with E. Ryu as well. It just seems stupid to have a contest to announce a character that 90% of the hardcore Volt Players already know is coming. Also... Giving away an iPad2 with Volt on it seems weird... Wouldn't a new generation iPod have been better.... Anyway, who knows. I guess we have to wait a week and bit to find out. Bummer.

guys i just added myself into the tournament. though i have two questions. the tourney is going to be based on ranked matches or friendly matches??? is the tourney already taking place or are we waiting for the next two upcoming chars to start the tourney??
We are still signing up people regardless when the update comes (even though it might seem a little unfair going against the new characters because we don't really know what they are capable of yet?). 20 people so far. It would be nice if 12 more for a full 32. If not, then we could do groups to determine those that won't have to play the first round? Well, this goes for using any character. You have to know when they are on the offensive and when they are on the defensive. There's that and learning the enemy's tendencies. Once you know both, you have a bit more control over the matches.
xD4RKSH4DOWZx you should have taken me out in the second round when you had the chance, If you play on PS3 or 360 we shouuld play a couple rounds sometime, GT is Voloster on both.
This thing's really shaping up, I'm excited! Two questions that I have though: 1. As far as the new update characters go, should the update fall during the tournament, do we ban them? I think this might be a sensible idea but I'm open to suggestions. 2. Are the fights going to be standard best of 3 round fights or best 3 of 5 round fights (of which you'd have to win 2 out of 3 fights to win)? Let's get this all ironed out soon, so if you guys have opinions, let's have em! EDIT: actually I have another idea and let me know if this makes things too complicated. What if the first round matches are 2/3 rounds, the round after that 3/5 round matches, and the finals are 4/7 round matches? It makes the stakes a bit higher in that you have to win more rounds to progress. Lemme know what you think.
