Yeah man, it was no exageration like 8 times in a row that I did the same thing and you countered the same way, I was like HE HAS TO CHANGE HIS METHOD EVENTUALLY! nope, I was the one who had to make the change! That was fun, I try not to use Bison too many times against a friendly opponent, unless specifically requested. I like to keep the friendly fights low pressure :)

Haha, I was trying to be aggressive with Sim, its tough though. Those quick spears I was doing were awesome though... I was suprised at how they countered and probably confused your jumps lol.

Honda vs guile I have to go as quickly as possible! I can not be zoned or chill far away becuse even if I try to jump sonic booms all day, my timing is awful and I will eat a bunch!

You were being a bit on the nice side by not completely pwning me with sonic booms, I remember you were jumping back and I was chasing you, and I knew you were gonna do a forward jump and attack, I was totally ready for it and you still got me! I remember this happened twice lol, I guessed correctly but you were quicker to the punch!

Really fun fights. I will invite you again soon!

Anyone who's played Abel have any suggestions against Geif, he seems to be the only match I'm consistently having problems with as him. Strangely enough it's one of the easier match ups in AE and x tekken for my Abel, but Abel's lackluster normals in Volt and up close game is so punishable by geifs SPD that it makes that match up a nightmare for me.

GGs bro! Sorry my mind was elsewhere as I was getting ready to go to class. We should play Tom as I need to avenge my loses:D Great Sagat BTW, keep it up.

Sagat really is a monster! berserk_2nd gave me some basic tips and I'm just following his instructions.

So there are like 13-14 friendly matches up between cyrus's Gief and shinsms's Sim. I have only watched 2 but they were great. Both of them uploaded videos so it's possible that there are duplicates (unless each player only uploaded their wins). Anyway, go check them out if you want to watch some entertaining chess-like matches.

It's such a tough matchup because, like you mentioned, Abel's close game is so punishable by SPDs. Aside from his sweep, his normals have very short range and Gief's SPD can easily grab him after whiffed standing punches (for example). When playing Gief, I have to really think ahead of my opponent and make every chance count. The wakeup game is so important. I will often mix up attacks the first couple times (standing kick -> TT, rekkas, sweep, TT, etc.) but then try to sprinkle in some bluffs to bait out wakeup SPDs, lariats or other throws.

Also, it sounds so obvious but just make every punish count. I never use meter on anything but his super in this matchup because there's a few different ways to combo into it. With his ultra, be ready to use it on reaction to Giefs who like to lariat from 3 quarters of the screen away or less (to build meter or otherwise). Another way to work it in is to use wheel kick, which I use quite often in this matchup if possible. When Giefs block it, they often like to try for a punish. A lot of the time I see people go in for a slam (back and SP). That's a cue to use ultra. Lastly (at least off the top of my head), almost never roll.

You know, that actually makes sense, appreciate it!

Did you invite me a little while ago? I was in a lunch meeting, if you want we can get a few games in, I am at work though... so can't play much.

Looks like we are in the same page, I usually rely heavily on his sweep and canceling it into his wheel kick if they block low, my problem is doing consistent damage against him. I use cr P> cr P> st forward kick> dash ALOT to stay in on people it's a fairly easy three hit combo and it puts you right in front of them for a grab/same combo/or a roll mix up, but Geif just grabs you right out of it if you drop one link neutralizing my biggest damage mix up. We will have to spar some Abel matches Jibba I think we could teach each other a thing or two, I'm too focused on playing him like AE, where I think you've learned him in the volt setting making you more aware of what's viable or not for this game. Thanks for the tips though I think I just need to play more patient against him.

Yeah, I was playing Inferno's Gief the other day trying to get in some practice and figure out a better technique in that matchup. There was one round that where I was up close mashing his cr. P and on the 3rd hit (which would have given me the win), I didn't keep the link and he slammed me out of it for the win. I was pretty angry/frustrated but had nobody to blame but myself. Basically, what it comes down to for me is that the moves I use so much on other characters don't particularly apply to Gief. He's just a better grappler than Abel.

Yeah, I think it can help at times (but hurt in others) that my only other SF experience is from SFII. I've never played AE and know nothing about it except from watching occasional matches online for strategy purposes (knowing it doesn't really apply to Volt). I'll be glad to play some matches sometime. I can play random characters against your Abel and learn from watching you while also maybe being able to give some feedback (and/or vice versa) or we can just do mirrors (although I'm not sure that mirrors would be as helpful).

You know, i have actually learned a few things from watching YouTube replays of AE that apply to Volt that i was surprised to learn work.. I forget some, but one was that in the corner with Vega you can combo into EX barcelona attack, late air claw against the wall - then juggle with one hit of EX Scarlet Terror. Not something i would try to use, but cool. These two are great subscriptions for recent top AE replays: YogaFlame24 and XblackvegetaX.

I really don't understand why people are still doing this "x amount of wins and 0 losses" thing. Okay, it was something weird and cool like 8 months ago, but it's really, really old now. It's pretty much confirmed that we don't believe your rank at all. Everyone knows you didn't make it that far undefeated and that you are pretty garbage at the game. I even fought a guy that had "Never defeated" in his comments. With that Home Button close by, he will never be "defeated".

I thought this whole, "I HAVE A PERFECT RECORD! IMDABES!" would've died out by now.
