I hope not. The controls have to be spot on, or this game will fail.

To those complaining about the controls: as others have, I have also tried a bunch of fighters on emus like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter and with a little bit of practice. Yes they are no hard matter to rest your thumbs upon but nothing's perfect, go buy a $300 PS3 and a $50 game if you want physical buttons so dang badly. Also, IGN has stated:

To alleviate worries, Capcom offers a number of control configurations so players can find their favorite position, button transparency, and set-up. Street Fighter IV also includes a Dojo Mode for training, giving you ample opportunity to get used to the controls before heading into a tournament or into a multiplayer match.

So who knows what's coming next, personally, while others may disagree, I find their other game control schemes (MegaMan, Ghosts n' Goblins, Resident Evil etc.) work quite well. Besides, I tried MegaMan 2 on the emu and the controls are nowhere as good compared to the actual game, so who says this won't be either?

Download the Mega Man II lite.

Look at it's comments, as well:

    "Bad controls"
    "Horrible control"
"Dear god, It's like someone stabs me in the eye every time I try to move"
"These controls are an affront against all that is holy"

I am only SLIGHTLY exaggerating how bad Capcom's control reviews were for that game.

Dunno about you guys, but I'm far more worried about online stability than control issues.

I think it will use sprites like Metal Gear Solid Touch. There's no way anything below 3GS could handle those graphics. Look at the details, the feet, the toes, the fingers and *gasp* facial expression!

    Same here :D

I am really skeptical, about both controls and performances on my 3G (I could lend my dad's brand new 3GS though :p)

Seriously, I bought g'n'g on sale and I am not very satisfied. This is a much harder port to do. I know g'n'g isn't exactly a port but that's even worse, they did not have to stay too faithful to any of the previous games in the series, and they still produced something that seems like a half-baked port.
I'll keep my expectations low for this one, I'll be more than happy if Capcom proves me wrong.

For the first time ever I will have to say we have a game where Touch controls will royally suck. (Fighting game addicts will know what I am talking about, you really need the feedback and accuracy in these games to play competitively).

I think its a better comparison to download Blades of Fury. Both the lite and the full have 4 stars and there's negative comments such as

    "more levels"
    "more characters"

but almost everyone agrees that its a great control scheme. This is a much better comparison.

Personally, I dont like controllers even for fighting games, i much prefer the arcade joysticks. The thing is, sfiv doesnt require as much complexity as it does sensitivity. You want to do your moves at the right time. I think it might wokr if they've tuned the controls so much. Either way, how cool is it so say. "I've got sf iv in m iPhone" :p

Been lookin all around, haven't seen a specified day in March. I'm way too excited too, found my Dawn of Souls game so I saved $18 and going to use that on SF4!

Ive been checking daily too on the Appstore but no luck yet, interestingly though everytime ive typed streetfighter 4 in over the last few days, 3 Apps have been showing (some crappy moves list another with cheats and something else) but today it looks as though one of then has vanished, perhaps Apple is making way for the arrival of the true Streetfighter 4 App?

And then there was 1... It must be close now as apple seem to be deleting everything associated with streetfighter 4 that isn't the official app...

My guess is either tonight or tomorrow (fingers crossed!)

Am I the only one who thinks this game is really unecessary on the iDevices?

    Not at all.

Honestly no matter how good of a job they do on the controls, I can't possibly see this game working well.

But I can very easily see it working well enough. The videos have been great and all the hands on i've seen have been very positive.

Are any games necessary? No. Do people want them? Yes. Do people want this game? Yes. Do I want this game? Yes. What makes this game more unnecessary than any other game?

I think this game is as necessary as any well made iPhone game. I want itmore than most.

Agreed to that one. hopefully the lag isnt bad..like said above...thats my only concern. Thats the ONLY problem with plants vs. zombies..when you get too many plants it does that. Hopefully Capcom can find a way around it!

Well that makes at least 2 of you although I know there are more.
The fact that this game is coming at all should be welcomed with open arms, I honestly dont see why all the hate surrounds it.

Either way im looking forward to this and untill I actually get to play the damn thing myself I will reserve jugdement, A lot of misconceptions can be made from idle talk after all...
