yeah it's the best way to make the game look really good in motion, but play to the hardware's limitations to keep gameplay smooth. and good god, did i mention that i want this badly right now? hopefully this convinces other companies to bring other fighters to the device. i sure could go for some mortal kombat 1-2 on the ipod....
I don't know whether to be excited or worried. I have no idea how they are going to pull the controls off. And I'm about 90% sure this is going to lag big time on my 2G. If it doesn't, kudos to Capcom.
I'm with you on that one... but I was actually thinking UMK3 if any of them. That was the best of the 2D ones. Otherwise, I'd like to see something like Virtua Fighter 4. I know that's quite a bit to ask for, but take a look at this... I would have never even thought this could have been done if I didn't see the screens.
The iPhone fanboy inside of me is laughing at the people whining in the IGN comments about why Capcom chose to do an iPhone version but not a PSP or Wii version I hope the controls work out well and hope they include online play as well.
I'm very, very, VERY skeptical about this game. SFIV, yeah, good game. But I can't imagine playing it with onscreen controls. Why is there no official gamepad attachment/case from Apple? Surely they realize gaming is huge on the i-devices now. The only thing missing is some option for physical dpad/buttons.
MK2 was the best of the 2d originals, followed by the original. Either would be awesome on iPhone, with some control tweaks of course. As for Virtua Fighter 4, check out Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, a winner at this years IMGA awards. The animation (which looks amazing) and visual style looks quite a bit like VF to me. Its by Digital Legends, who made Kroll on the iPhone and also a decent fighter called one for ngage. Anyway, back to SF4, I'm very surprised. I hope the controls work ok, they were decent in Gameloft's Blades of Fury. But that game doesn't have the speed and massive combo chains that SF4 has. I really hope they don't have combos like "back, back, forward, K" as that would really suck on the virtual pad. Simpler, time based combos would work much better.
I think that the key to making this game work is the controls if they get that right it will be a absolute must buy. Hopefully they release a lite version so we can test before we commit, but somehow I don't think they will.
That's great news. I have the pc version of SFIV and I love it. My one question is how do I connect my custom arcade stick to my iPhone
Wait! Will this have the character list of Super Street Fighter IV or just the original? (They both come out pretty close to each other anyway, so... just wondering)
wow, graffix look awsome but without a controller or stick the controls are gonna be terrible... when your sweatin your thumb will stick to that screen like glue and you aren't gonna even gonna be able to pull off a simple jump...
gross, you sweat while you play? i thought sweat would help lubricate the screen for you, give you an advantage sliding your fingers faster, lol
Metaphor hits squarezero for over 9000. It's super-effective! squarezero faints. My comment stands. The controls will be as wonky as those of Zenonia. I see no reason, with a vast plethora of games out there featuring unresponsive and inaccurate controls, to believe that a game requiring perhaps THE MOST sophisticated input identification coding will be successful. For god sakes, people are having issues controlling games like Compression. There's no way SF4 will work unless the move list is either severely diluted or made into easy-mode inputs, neither of which would appeal to fans of SF4 anyhow.
if they can rock the controls, i'll have the break my signature and buy it regardless if it isnt on sale!
I stopped playing Compression just because of the controls... You want to move one space? Too bad, you rotate, and lose. Controls vary though. It is Capcom after all, I don't think they would release a broken game for one of their biggest franchises.
