I like this game so far. The graphics are cute and adorable, sound effects are nice, opening packs is just amazing, well it's a great little game. Personally I would prefer floating joystick instead of fixed, because it's not so comfortable to play on iPad, I hope it would come with updates. As for the pay model I do not have any problems with that. I have not played the premium version but would prefer that for sure. The f2p model here is acceptable. No timers, no energy system and other bullsh@t. Cannot wait to see future content updates!
Oh trust me there won't be future updates. The developers are not trustworthy and I'm disgusted they haven't given original purchasers some form of compensation, what a poor marketing tactic. Deleted and will not buy their products again.
Have some of you complainers realized that it is not an easy task to compensate original buyers of the app? Or maybe i'm wrong and you know an easy-peasy way, then please enlighten the rest of us. Anyway, the game doesn't seem hard imo, so i don't really need or care for compensation. So that leaves the question for me, why make the devs spend time jumping through hoops when they can spend that time to flesh out the game with more content for everyone? And on the topic of trustworthy devs, i played their Mega Jump and Mega Run releases back in the day and have fond memories of these games.
LMAO. Get Set are awesome and this game is awesome. Your loss. It's crazy how entitled some people feel over a measly couple of dollars.
Bruh we told you it's not that easy. Which is why lots of game devs say they can't compensate. It's not like we have accounts connected to servers, at least in the original. You lost out on a dollar? What ever will you do? Now you can have hours upon hours of free fun. The death knight super is beast!
Please tell me you’re being sarcastic. This game is worth every penny I paid last year. The fact that they rereleased it with extra content and bug fixes is just icing on top. Who cares if it’s free now. The game is EXACTLY the same, except it has more content a story now. If you’re really going to whine about $5, then I’ll send you $5. Be thankful you have $5 to blow on a video game. Most people in the world would love to have enough money to be able to buy video games. Get Set has created something awesome here, and I for one am happy to support them. This “free to play model” is the fairest I’ve seen, and should leave no room for complaining. I’m actually glad all my progress is gone because it gives me an excuse to play this awesome game again. Thanks Get Set, keep up the good work. And don’t listen to negative Nancy over there.
Really enjoying getting back into this game. Losing a couple of bucks on a game isn't the end of the world and you can tell that a lot of work went into this game. This is not a cash grab. I am not a fan of f2p, but this is done right. M Any reccos on which ultra card to get?
I'd say wait until sale and grab all of them for 4$. They're all really awesome! I love the skeleton transformation and ember pet.
Is there a restore-purchases mechanism for the fourth card slot, or the ultra cards? I don't touch consumable in-app purchases.
So, maybe I can give a little more insight into what happened here. When we stopped working on the game because it was not making enough money to support further development things were in working order. Over time, iOS updates come out and things change on the devices, new bugs surface. The game making less and less and could not cover the cost of an update to fix these bugs, so we make the call to just leave it as is since the bugs are not completely game breaking. After a while, we notice that things are significantly more broken than we'd like so we need to decided to either pull the game or update it. We are a studio of 6 people, and doing an update means we'll need to pull people off of the new game we're working on (in a new Engine so we can do Android / cross platform development easily). We decided that we're going to retool the game into F2P and do the update with the hope that the switch to F2P will cover the cost of development. In an effort to not delay our upcoming projects, we only put a few people on the F2P version of Storm Casters. Development takes longer than expected, and we then come to another hard decision. We don't want to have to maintain two SKUs on the store (paid and free) because that brings on a whole other set of design problems. It will end up costing too much time and money to try and update the paid game with all of the bug fixes and separate all the F2P features out (this is the problem of maintaining a free and paid version at the same time). It also gives paid users the wrong idea, getting an update for a game then a few weeks later the exact same game comes out but it's free with more content and features? We figured that would upset people even more. So we decided to just pull the paid version which no one is buying OR playing at this point (based on our analytics) and focus on just getting the free version out the door. I completely understand people are upset that the game they paid for was pulled from the store. And with hindsight being 50/50, we should have pulled it from the store sooner. I sincerely apologize to anyone who is upset by this decision and encourage anyone who is still upset to request a refund from Apple (we can't refund people directing on iOS, only Apple can issue refunds unfortunately). I also encourage everyone to try the free version, it really is better in every way. If anyone has any other questions about this please do let me know, I'm happy to answer them. If you don't want to post about them publicly that's cool too, email me directly at [email protected] and we can chat more. Cheers, Mike
We hear ya! We have a bunch of new features lined up for the next update, so I can't guarantee that this one will make it in, but it's a feature that's often requested, so we'll be looking into it! Good to hear We almost pulled the disco bomb because the music kept cutting out, but we got it working the day before we submitted the game. Glad you like it - keep stayin' alive! The cards that others are talking about here (Ember, Disco Bomb, etc.) are the Ultra Cards, which can be purchased as one-offs on the cards packs (summon packs) screen. Each of those cards will pop up for half price at some point. The majestic pack contains high-level Battle Cards with guaranteed Legendaries, Epics and Rares. I believe that one will also pop up for sale eventually. Yes, there is a restore purchases option if you go to Settings (cog on the main menu), then tap on Help in the top right. You'll find a support page with a restore button. And yes, it will restore any direct purchases, like the Ultra Cards and fourth card slot. It's great to hear all the positive comments, and especially that you guys are liking the Ultra Cards. We tried to come up with something special for those cards and it sounds like we did the right thing there - we had a lot of fun making them. I'd love to hear your strategies for the game too - what are your favourite weapons? I'd have to go with Painspitter (Speed Punch!) or Arc Lightning (There Is No Escape!).
Ah, there it is. I hadn't dug quite that far into settings. However, when I tap that button, I just get a perpetual "Contacting App Store" spinner. Note that I haven't bought anything yet.
On the topic of F2P: As for the general feeling that F2P is bad and that gamers want to just pay for the game, this is exactly the message we overwhelming heard from people. We launched Storm Casters paid, no one bought it. Maybe we're too small to do paid? Maybe we didn't market enough? Maybe it was just bad luck. Regardless, it seems like its a very vocal but small group that hates F2P games. The downloads / engagement / revenue suggest that for just about any game at any size, you have a MUCH higher chance of success releasing a game as F2P. Maybe this will change in the future, and if it does we'll make paid games again. But for now, we have to go in the direction that can support the people and families around our company. On the topic of Ultra cards: DISCOBOMB?! No way, Roosterzooka is the best. I guess different strokes for different folks. Any suggestions for new Ultra Cards? We were thinking about one that would give you "hover boots" so you can fly over lava / water. On the topic of Updates: Yes, we have one major update already in development. It will add a way for players to choose their cards from their hand for a round, so you can craft that perfect all legendary card hand. Or are max commons a better choice, higher odds of drops after all. Decisions... Decisions... Side note, it will probably cost one gem per card to lock? Not entirely sure yet. What are your thoughts?
There's your problem. But if you do, and if you lose it, you should be able to get it back! Having said that it should be hard to lose progress or items because everything is backed up on iCloud as long as you have iCloud enabled.
Yeah, I was thinking maybe it was stalling because there weren't any actual purchases yet. And that's great if it does iCloud sync for save data. Sometimes I want to play on my iPhone, and sometimes I want to play on my iPad. Just depends on if you're on the toilet, or on the couch, you know?
Great to see some dev-talk over here! In the end, I think you did the right business move. It's one of the best rogue-likes on the AppStore, imo, and I love the Hearthstone-like graphics. I still have tons of content to do so this gem will definitely have a spot on my device and...deep inside my heart, haha. Jk Edit: oh, Thunderblast is my favorite weapon for now. ka-boom!
lol - of course! And yes, you should be able to switch back and forth between devices as long as iCloud is enabled on both (and both devices are registered to your account).
