I have a question With the epic cards. Let's say I purchase the one that turns me into a skeleton. Is there a way to make that card in my pack every single play? Billy
^ no lol. But you'll get tons of gold later to keep rolling sweet cards. That's the fun of the game, each play through is random!
Not right now, but we are working on a feature that will let you use Warp Stones to lock a card in your collection to make sure it appears in your shuffle (we call it Warp Locking). We use it internally for testing and it's pretty great! You'll want to use it wisely though...
That's exactly the mindset I got from the PC/PS4/Xbox One free-to-play co-op TPS Warframe. That was another free-to-play game that got it right. At no point while playing that game did I feel that I needed to spend any money, but I must've put $30 in platinum into that game, not because I needed to, but because I wanted to support the devs for a job well done. The same applies to this game. I spent $8 total on the fourth slot and the Ultra cards. Didn't need them, to be honest, since they weren't in the original paid version, but I wanted to give a little something back to the devs for an incredible job on this game. Mind you, I can't stand free-to-play just as much as the rest of you, but there have been a few exceptions. These are a couple of those few.
That sounds fine. And you'd probably have to use a warp stone or multiple stones to unlock it? That sounds like a fair system to me. Billy
Those are actually the only things that require actual cash to purchase. The Warp Stones (which you get on occasion through regular play, I'm saving up mine for a Majestic Pack) are only for the card packs, and have cards that can be obtained through regular play. Believe me. I can't stand free-to-play games. They have caused a huge paradigm shift in what game publishers and companies are focusing on. But, at the same time, I am a little more open minded then most people. As far as how normal free-to-play scumminess goes, this is one of the outliers, not one of the rule.
I have 12 of them sitting here. I've been getting them when I level up. BI'm going to horde them now lol! And for me it comes down really to timers. I cannot nor will I ever compromise on that. With the rest as long as things are priced well with the ability to restore my purchase and / or cloud saves I'm negotiable. I believe in paying for games that I play. I want better experiences. If devs have to worry more about how they are going to feed their families my experience is going to be less. I hope I make sense. Devs spend how many hours learning to code? Going to school and paying for classes? Then coding and fixing that code. Paying fees to compile and paying fees to Apple. To just charge $.99 and pay Apple or Google $.30. It's crazy. I've done a lot of beta and alpha testing over the years. Starting with Palm Os. And. I've seen the stress that making a game can cause someone. Trying to recreate a bug that happens for a few people. People really need to understand what goes into the whole process. Billy
I hear you, but to be fair, the timer is part of the game's design. It's been around since the paid version, so it's not really a free-to-play hook. BTW, I started playing on my iPad, then when my battery ran out on it, I decided to check it out on my iPod Touch 6. There was all my progress; gold, gems, cards, warp stones, evo levels, etc. Looks like they got it covered in the iCloud saves department.
Could not agree more with your comments on Warframe and this game. Both offer a ridiculous amount of content for free with a very fair pay method. Warframe in particular does a great job releasing regular free new content.
This isn't that kind of "timer" anyway. It is not the FTP thing because it's a stage's time limit (like some games might normally have), instead of those "you can't play the game for this long" timers... ...Which I also can't stand, because a game is meant to be played. Making me play another is accomplishing the opposite effect. It doesn't let me play, it isn't played. Those games that let me play are looking a lot better... I mean seriously... </rant>
Great game. Bought the orignal, loved it. Played the heck out of it. Downloaded the free version, loved it as well. Mechanics work well. Simple fun with a bit less strategy. At least it seems easier so far. Only 4 levels in, so I may be surprised later. And this is also a great example of a free game that deserves some money to add features like the Extra Card Slot etc. I spent a bit on the original and felt good about it. Also this Ultra version does not appear to be one of those games that requires a Buy-In to beat it. So it's open to all audiences. Thanks to the Devs for the nice update without too much in the evil FTP or Ads on screen etc. If there were ads on screen I would happily pay to remove them.
I wouldn't. I already paid for the ad-free version, and this is the only fixed one... It'd be the thing people were complaining about: taking the game we paid for and putting in ads and bad freemium stuff, expecting you to pay more which was not as advertised... (Which, as far as I've seen, seems to have been uncalled for in this case. Only opt-in ads? Okay.)
Is this the same content as the paid version? I got the paid one and passed it. Would download this if it had more levels etc.
It's a shame you can't earn stones after you hit max level. Are they confirmed to drop from chests rarely? " bad freemium stuff " Nothing freemium was added to the game. The dungeon level timer was in the first time exactly the same. It's there for difficulty if there was no timer it would be a lot less fun. Content was added as well as cards. Opt in ads to revive was added that is epic. It doesn't cost currency to revive. Only an ad and not every time. If your lucky it'll let you revive once every 30 min. The ONLY thing added that you can purchase that's different from the original are like 4 really dope ultra cards for 4$ ( sale price through out game)
Great game but is crashing a lot on my iPad Air iOS 8.4 (almost every time i want to watch a commercial and sometimes in the last stage of a level)
Once i finished or got bored of a game (and delete it from my device), i don't care at all if it disappears from wherever, and/or transforms into a f2p later on. Really. /rant on/ BUT, i wasn't finished with the original at all. The game was broken at some point, but a fix never came. And with this move, leaving a paid game broken (no matter the price), you as a Dev, lost quite a bit of my respect and even more important, my trust in you. The minimum you should have done with this new version is, to appologize to your early customers with a free in-game offer (maybe the 4th slot). A move that would have shown me, that you didn't forget about your early birds. You did. /rant off/ Please, dear Devs, keep that in mind for your future projects, though i'm quite sure you'll never go back to premium games again. This version feels pretty much the same as the paid one. It's still a very good game and i'm also happy to see that this is f2p done right (gets the Devs some of my respect back). Edit: this timer is NOT an energy system to keep a player away from gaming. It belongs to the gameplay.
