Thought the same thing. Totally has a Pocket RPG vibe and additional classes would add to replay value.

I use an app called CM Security that frees up memory by deleting "junk files" and every time after I use that I can't get past the Get Set loading screen in Storm Chasers and have to reinstall. This is the only game/app that has this problem, so maybe the freezing has something to do where/how the game stores it's files.

Ahem, where did the enemies go? Maybe it is a known bug already, but around room 34 they stop spawning for me. Bosses still show up, but i can basically run through the rest of the game.

Playing on a 5s, havent had any other issues.

I know this is a bandaid, but I usually just run a room a few levels back, quick and I usually end up with 3-5 hearts.

Now I really don't want to play this until there's bugfixes. I bought it already because of everyone saying it's awesome.

Bill Killem has a similar problem, deleting my save data when I use an app that temporarily fills the space to make the iDevice run its cleanup thing... (...Why is the cleanup not an option to access without a workaround? And how can save data be accidentally labeled as junk files/not labeled as not junk?)

Considering that after a while, I can clean up around 100-200 MB of junk files...
    This is a problem.

Chapter 3 I am running into issues where there are no enemies, or very few.

Does anyone know if there's a difference between the two characters?

Just bought this and played through chapter 1. I like it a lot. My only complaint so far is that I'd like to be able to move the controls. I'm playing on an iPad 4, and wish the controls were closer to the edges. Please allow adjusting the control stick positions, or implement relative position sticks.

Sorry if this was asked already, but after level 25 evolve, what is the max attack and portal time? It told me when I evolved but I don't remember what it said.

    Thanks.

Edit: Portal maxes at 130 sec

Hmm, have been reading this thread for a while now as I was looking to get this... I have been sitting on the fence regarding this game (because of the issues) for so long now my butt is getting sore. I use an ipod 5g and I am a bit worried about the progression bugs, and loosing where I get up to in he game. I always play without an internet connection.....

Yeah, I get the same on my 1st gen iPad mini. I get stuttering at the start of every room, which sometimes lasts for quite a long time and often lasts long enough to get me jumped by something. Also, the game has started crashing a lot either when dying before the menu screen comes up or when trying to go to the cards screen from the main menu screen.

I've got as far as level 20 but the problems are getting worse (I guess because of more stuff on screen). It's now too frustrating to play. I'm going to shelve it until there's an update.

It's a shame as I really like the game for a quick fix dungeon crawl.

Correct, for now. Adding slight differences in the characters could be a cool new addition though (additional XP for Alena, more portal time for Rufus, for instance)

We could take out the IAP, but it wouldn't change the game at all. It's there for players that would like to be able to get packs of cards a little quicker if they would like to. Yes it does generate a small amount of extra revenue, but it remains completely separate to the game and nothing is kept from players who don't use it.

We're going to be marketing the game in China and Taiwan separately, so look for more news on that later it the year! Until then unfortunately it won't be available in those app stores.

This is a known bug that we're still trying to track down. It's a tricky one...

    Great suggestions Ninjastar, thanks!

As mentioned above , right now the only difference is cosmetic but that could change.

Unfortunately we can't guarantee good performance on devices that can't run iOS 7, so it unlikely we'll be able to support iOS 6 in future.

We have some big fixes for lag coming soon that should help a lot with 4S, iPad 2 and iPad mini non-retina.

Thanks! There is a high chance of getting an extra heart on the floor complete reward screen - you'll get either coins, extra time or an extra heart as a bonus reward. In our balance testing, along with cards and random heart drops, we found this gave a good chance if getting extra hearts without making the game too easy. We're taking note of comments like these though - thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for this info - it could be useful!

This is a known issue that we're looking into. We haven't seen it too much "in the wild" so it seems to be rare but we'll keep tabs on it.

Thanks for the suggestion. If we continue to get a lot of these it'll be more likely to be added in a future update.

It's pretty hard to lose your progress in Storm Casters even without an internet connection, but if you ever decide to reinstall the game then I would suggest playing the game with an internet connection for a while to make sure your progress is backed up onto iCloud on the internet.

As I mentioned above, we're working on fixing a number of stuttering issues that should help a lot with this.

Thanks again for the amazing comments - I don't think we had this much discussion about one of our games before!

Wow! Just notice the developer is Get Set! I'm a big big fan of mega jump! That game was a simple elegant piece of art work. So this one will be an instant buy for me, I have faith in you guys :D

If you look at the post history of the person you're responding to, you'll see they're on a crusade against all consumable IAP in paid games, completely independent of how it's implemented in any particular game. I think it's obvious to anyone who actually tries this game that it's not balanced around IAPs, and that they're just for people who'd like to jump ahead as you say.

Personally I like starting with one heart. I like that it adds a little extra excitement to the start of a run, and makes it so I have to initially be extra careful about keeping track of enemies. And as you say, I usually end up getting an extra heart pretty soon.

Another problem I have with the touch controls. It seems like often the game loses track of where the left stick was and goes back to center, even though I haven't lifted my left thumb off the screen. The result is I'm moving my finger off to one side but my character just stands still, and I end up getting hit. If I look at the stick, I see that it's centered even though my finger is off to the side. I have to lift my finger off the screen and place it back in the center of the joystick to regain control, but often by that point I've already taken a hit or gotten killed.

I just experimented a little more and I think I understand the problem. In most games with fixed virtual joysticks, if I'm not touching the screen and then I place my finger for example to the left of the joystick, the joystick will move to the left. In this game, if I place my finger to the left of the joystick, nothing happens. The joystick will only move if I first placed my finger in the middle of the joystick and then slide it to the left. This ends up making the joysticks finicky, because if while playing, the device momentarily loses track of my finger (which can happen even if I didn't lift my finger off the screen), then the joystick just returns to center and won't respond until I lift my finger up and recenter it. In the middle of a fight I often don't realize I need to do this until too late.

I've taken to working around this by frequently lifting my finger up and re-centering it even when I don't need to, but it would be better if I didn't have to worry about that.

Just entered chapter 4 and am really enjoying this game and is my "go to" every day. As has been mentioned ad nauseum, the IAPs are entirely optional as the gold coins are generously dropped in-game. The timed gaming mechanic is uniquely implemented here heightening the tension on each progressive level forcing one to choose between gathering as much gold as possible, getting medieval on some baddies who previously took you down or just getting the heck out to the next level. Kudos to Get Set for making one of my favorite games of the year.

    EDIT 1:
ok...after posting my gushing praise, the game no longer works!

When I launch the game, the only thing that shows up is the GetSet splash page. I even waited almost 10 minutes for the splash screen to go away and it didn't. I did a warm reset, etc. to no avail. I have over 6.5 gb of space and I'm on the latest enterprise iOS, non-jailbroken.

    EDIT 2:
I deleted the game and immediately reinstalled it. The game launched fine with all of my previous progress carried over. This is quick-and-dirty workaround, but it worked. I'm still uncertain why the game wouldn't move past the developer splash screen, though.

Love the game, it's one of the best I've played in a long time! Here are a few things I think could make it even better though:

Sometimes it's really hard to see projectiles resulting in "unfair" deaths. Barrel explosions, weapon effects, etc all obscure projectiles. Maybe if they were always on top and had an glow/outline or something it would be easier to see them.

Ditto with enemies spawning. Sometimes an enemy spawns under an explosion or something and I die without realizing what was happening. It's particularly bad with the big skeletons with the huge swing.

Speaking of those skeletons, maybe increase their swing time a tiny bit? They're super hard to avoid, especially when moving vertically and you have less forward vision (and it's even worse with a speed upgrade).

And the biggest issue for me is lack of health drops in the later levels. I seem to get fewer and fewer health drops the further I get into the game. Am I correct in assuming that as you unlock more items through cards, the chance for an item to drop stays the same even though the pool of possible items increases? If so it seems like a design flaw since health is by far the most important item drop, yet buying packs would actually make the game harder since you'd be less likely to get a heart.

Sorry for the big list of gripes, but I only do it because this game is so close to perfect that these few things really stand out!

nickfury, what is the status of the update? It's almost impossible to play the game right now. The lagging can be 10 seconds to 1 minute, and the crashes are frequent (losing all treasure obtained in the time played. only thing that registers is the gold).

    ETA please.
