Have fun trolling, you seem to be doing a fine job. I hope to never see your kind, it's a rotten type. Btw, sorry guys for the off-topic. I just fed a troll. They need to or they get hungry. Good luck with this! The graphics are not stellar, the game has potential for improvement. Right now I cannot recommend it, sadly, but in the future I might. The voice over I think is more than decent for this, it's probably the best thing about the game. That and the icon, which I personally find it quite good. The bad thing is the interface design, for me. It somehow screams cheap, I don't know why I was expecting something a little fancier in simplicity, yet I didn't find it. Everytime a pop-up appears, I cover my eyes, because of the design. For those who didn't understand the bashing of Crescent Moon: People who go on the AppStore see Stellar Wanderer then Crescent Moon. What did I see from Crescent Moon other than that? Well, let's see... PocketRPG, Aralon, Ravensword and those alone scream tons of fans and a rather high standard to meet. Ah, yes... They also made The Deer God and Exiles, but they still have nightmares with that last one, right Josh? Anyhow, the point I'm making is people who buy a game will first see the publisher, and it's in their best interest to grab people's attention and scream top-notch/above-average quality from the start. In this case, sadly, we are seeing some rather problematic releases: Exiles didn't actually attract fans to CM, The Deer God was launched on Android and was poorly misunderstood I think (I confess I don't remember much about it and I'm lazy now enough not to Google it). Aralon 2 came and washed some of that sour taste but still, I checked for the German and US store, and Aralon 2 has only an average of 3 or 3.5 stars, which ain't that good for a game that probably shot for much more. And you can see it from the price too. How much does Aralon 2 cost? How much does Ravensword 2 cost? Thumbs for Josh though, your next one will be a better experience. Right? I hope you will get a Day 1 from me like in the past, it's up to you, and you probably wish for those Day 1 purchases to make it as visible as possible.
I thought I'd just say I'd like to see the ship and upgrade prices lowered rather dramatically too. The first ship is slow and it seems like any other ship takes a good amount of grinding to attain.....especially for those looking at this and choosing the fighter class only to find it'll take a lot of trading too to really progress. Even the upgrades are pricey and don't seem to have much effect on ship attributes when you're in the driver's seat.
Day 1. Ravensword: Legacy. You might not like my UI design though since it will be kind of minimal...
I played a bit with a controller. This is another area where improvements should be made. I was using a MadCatz C.T.R.L.i In the settings menu, a new button appeared labeled "controller". When pressed, nothing happens. Fantastic! I also had to disable "invert Y axis", since it is already inverted when using the controller, but it's not when using the virtual stick, oddly enough. Then I think the right word for MFi is not "supported (in-flight)", but "tolerated". Primary and secondary fire are mapped to A and B (first two face buttons)... -_- Never heard of "triggers"?? Then you still have to touch the screen for targeting, since the only targeting available on the controller is through DPad-Down to target nearest enemy (at least I suppose that's what it does) Could you also think about the possibility of using roll with right thumbstick? It would still be almost impossible to achieve a decent control scheme for both yaw and roll using touch controls, but at least who uses a controller should have better maneuvering options. I don't think that would create unbalance, since there's no competitive multiplayer or online rankings for this game.
quick review As far as I can tell, aside from slightly better voice acting and not hocking dlc at you, it's about as good or worse in every way compared to galaxy on fire 2 hd (from which, let's be honest, it's cribbing A LOT). Having said that, as someone who's wrung every last drop out of GOF2 HD, it's fine for the price, it's just not as good as I'd hoped it would be. If you haven't played GOF2, do that first IMO.
Great game Its a heap of fun! and its not a Freemium game like GoF2, which makes it much nicer in my eyes. It would be great if the dialog was a bit clearer on when your free to roam around. For all those complaining that you cant wander off from the main story missions, play until your asked to go to New Vegas. Its about an hour into the story, and when your at that point the entire galaxy is open to you, except for New Vegas. I found getting a Repair robot completely changed the game. Up until that point i would have to stick exactly to a mission, no side missions or engaging extras. It was just to easy to get pulverised. But now i have the repair system installed its so much more fun and freeing. For those struggling with turn rate, use the slow down button more, you can almost turn on the spot and trace a target easily. The control system works well for me, using 2 fingers on the right of screen to control speed and shoot simultaneously is the only technique i had to figure out. I know roll/yaw would be great, but with at most 3 fingers to use on screen i cant see a way of implementing a controls scheme that would function. sure a MFi controller would work, but we don't all have them, and when we do we cant always have them with us. Mining is a good way to make money for purchasing upgrades or new ships. Its a lot less risky than some of the Side Missions. The map isn't the most pretty thing i have ever seen, but its nice that its 3D and the rout planing function works a treat. I enjoy the characters so far too, its interesting and fun. although I'm getting the impression so far that all the story missions involve combat of some sort. in fact combat is a large part of this game, i don't mind but others may Playing on my iPhone 6 its solid, no glitches or crashes, it eats battery less than other games (give me a bigger battery Apple!) Overall 4.5 out of 5 from me, defiantly worth the $5 ($7.99 in Aus) price, looking forward to the rest of the campaign.
Smuggling compartments Get a Smuggling compartment ASAP! Your killing pirates all the time who regularly drop illegal items, and the Drugs cargo is worth a boatload of cash! Rocking a heavily modified Dolphin and its a destruction machine, the Turret helps a bunch as well, just make sure that enemy is always "above" you and they are toast.
Nice review but GoF 2 is not really what I would call F2P. You can play that game for 100 hours and not pay a penny. There are some unneeded currency IAPs, but the only real IAPs are if you want the expansions. This game is fun, even with its flaws, but it doesn't hold a candle to GoF 2. Honestly, it would be hard for almost any game in the genre to compete so I'm not saying this is bad at all. Just don't go into it thinking it's the huge, nearly endless epic that GoF 2 is.
True, i only put 25ish hours into GoF2, its still to early to see how this compares in the long game. And your right GoF2 is not the worst F2P, but its an element of the design and I'm finding this game less limited by cash. I hate a game that needs copious amounts of grinding, something F2P encourages developers to do. In this you can enjoy a bit of grinding, get some good gear, then get on with the story. For that reason its probably going to have less total hours of gameplay to it, but if the story continues to be interesting then I'm not concerned. its just cutting out some of the repetitive nature of a grind game. Again $5 is cheap for the entertainment, for me.
Dyson, Side Mission, How to locate asteroid field? Anybody figured out how to find/locate asteroid belt? Any miners here? What's your technique for locating asteroid fields? I'm stuck on this side mission that pays $6542 but I can't find the asteroid field
It surely isn't explained clearly, but as someone else already posted here, you are bound to finish the primary mission once it starts and primary mission starts the moment you enter the system you've been told. So, as long as the mission implies escorting some ships from your current system or patrolling your current system or killing some dudes in your current system, the mission will start as soon as you leave the station, so you can't free roam at that particular time. But if you are to meet someone in another system, for example when you are told to go to New Vegas, like you said, as long as you don't enter New Vegas system, you're free to do whatever you like. Not very clear, sure, but neither that hard to figure out. I'm sure I have played other games before that handle main story missions this way.
I think it's close to one of the Gates, just go to each gate, the draw distance doesn't cover the entire zone. You should have a little bright green marker pointing you in the right direction. I haven't actually done that side mission so there is also the chance it's a bug I gues
I really want to like this game, but I am unable to finish one of the tutorial missions due to the level of difficulty being so high early in the game. The player at one point is swarmed by enemies and it seems no amount of aerial acrobatics can be utilized to keep the ship in one piece. I beat GoF2 which also wasn't easy, however not being able to finish the tutorial to do my own thing (explore, mine, outfit my ship, etc: the primary reason I bought the game) feels like I paid for a punishment. I've seen the title screen more times than I can count at this point and have left what I consider a fair review on the App Store, warning potential buyers what their getting into.
I see I wasn't considering that a tutorial. Get some missiles, those would do quite a damage. The "Pirate BOSS" is the most powerful, take him first (select it manually if you get a different autoselection).
