There's no connection to the story, that's for sure. The only thing I have in mind is some connection to the game save. You can save your game on a different slot and try if it still happens in a new game (I know this might be time expensive ... I mean you may have to play a few missions to have cash or cargo space or both). I'll still be trying to reproduce this on my side and to check the code ... maybe I find a corner case.
Let me be a bit more specific. I am speaking of the HG heat seek mk1 missiles (with 120 dmg/s) that I'm guessing you can only find in high guard areas. I sold what I had which was around 36 or so, went somewhere did a few missions and came back but instead of finding the same number of that specific missile there were fewer, like only 24 or so. Can I find more somewhere else? Is there a maximum number of that missile that you can have on your ship? As far as I can tell these are the missiles that carry the most amount of damage that I've seen so far. Hate to be a pain, but there is something going on here, but I just cant quite put my finger on it. Thx again for your attention to this matter.
Hi, good details now I understand what's happening. So when a base produce something has a target stock (so it will not overproduce something) also, some other NPC will buy items and the stock will drop before it gets replenished. The stock target for HG Heat Seek is about 35 so ... the base it will never produce more, unless you buy some and wait for a while. Also if you sell everythink there and there will be a big stock (let's say 50 missiles), the base will wait until the stock drops below 20 or something before it starts production again. There's no limit on how many missiles you can carry, you just need cargo space, one unit for each missile (there are ships with good cargo and with some cargo boosters you can have quite a lot). On the other hand have you tried IAR Missile MK3 ? Those are my favorites I hope this helps
I'm a huge fan of Elite and its newer version Elite Dangerous. I'd give my left leg (I need my arms for flying) for a mobile experience like that. At first I wasn't hugely impressed by this game but now I've given it some time and effort I see why people on the forum like it so much. The flight model is really good. I'm using accelerometer and roll option and it really gives the same flight experience as Elite Dangerous. The game could use a bit of polish here and there (map needs more systems and a bit of a graphical overhaul) but for a solo dev on a budget this really is awesome work. Please consider continuing to develope it as it could be an amazing game with more time. Consider planned content updates as IAP to help cover cost of development. I'll add a review to the App Store soon. This is my favourite video game genre, so thanks again.
Hi, thanks for the nice words. First I have to complete support for Android (and a couple localisations) and then is quite likely that I'll add some more content (maps, missions ... we'll see).
Thanks for the response. It's great to hear you plan to add more to the game. Don't worry though I'm a software dev myself (not games sadly) so I know these things take considerable time and effort to develop and test. I'm more than happy to wait for updates. The game is good now, even without some extra gloss
Maybe some other players might have a hint on this one Usually items are cheaper where are produced (especially when the stock is high) and are most expensive on stations that don't produce that particular item.
Great game, quite enjoyable. Anybody found hydrogen? I got a side quest to bring in 18 tons of it, but have a hard time finding some. My tip for newbies would be: do as much in-system side quests as you can. When destroying a pirate, cargo is often left behind. Scoop it up by tapping (selecting) it.
Yes and no I simply misread the mission text, and later realized that you don't have to go to other star systems for mining -- just search for the local asteroid belt. That said, are the minerals of an asteroid belt static? Or could they have changed if you travel to another star system and later return? And sorry to inundate with questions, but I'm an iOS developer as well (no games). Are you able to reveal which tools/engines you used for 3D and artwork? Or is it a homebrewn engine?
First, about the minerals, yes, the minerals of an asteroid are static (the same asteroid will have the same minerals forever). About the development, all the engine and tools were developed in-house (I have used openglES, openAL, directX on windows ... and that's about it, no other libraries except what comes with iphoneSDK, androidSDK). I have a level editor, an fx-editor, model viewer and a few other smaller tools I have developed over the time. I might use (in the near future) some facebook/twitter posting libraries but that's it. About the art, most of the art was outsourced or acquired from various online stores (still most purchased art, if not all, required another outsourced step to re-do the texturing or quality adjustments). Still there's one free tool I used to generate a few backgrounds (most were purchased, but a few were generated by me).
Very nice work! I remember my 3D programming classes in University, my head isn't really wired that way
There's also a lot of interface work and a lot of non-graphics related work ... and the hardest part thousands of bugs to fix
Finished it I won't spoil too much, but let's say the end is quite satisfying in terms of number of ships Loved the voice acting, with the British and American accents. The story line is also quite interesting. There's a lot of opportunity here to expand the universe with more stories. There are also lots of hidden and not so hidden jokes. For example, there's a "general Norris"
Forgot the name, and I've since removed the game to make place for Strike Wing It could carry 70 tonnes of cargo, had 4 primary weapon slots and 2 secondary, and no turret. Cost was somewhere around 35K. Fine ship.
Hm, I guess that would be one of the highguard ones ... Highguard factories make really good ships ;-)
