Sylvain, I absolutely love day and night cycles, but I have a suggestion: could you add an automatic surface reload option? I've noticed that if I move fast, I can see new tones of the planet colors every few seconds (minutes of game time), but if I don't move for 30 seconds and then move, half an hour of game time has passed and there's a lot of light and color change. My suggestion is to add an auto reload in the settings that allows for reloading every 5, 10, 15 seconds or off (i.e. The options are: 5s, 10s, 15s, off). This way, if you just want to stand looking at the scenery, it will reload and you'll be able to see sunrises and sunsets without having to move. Is it possible? In any case, this new day and night effect is awesome!
Yup, The day night cycle is awesome. A nice touch is the fact that the IR on-off options appears when it is dark. I can also confirm for sale status of stations changes. One went from On Sale to Not On Sale while I had the station purchase screen open. Never saw it go the other way though. I did revisit an older system and was able to buy the station on the second visit. I have attached the current map of my galactic empire( 119 planets displayed so far ), stay off of my lawn!
As suggested by you, sky is now updated automatically. It has no impact on the interface (you won't see any animation as the one you see when you turn or go ahead), and the player won't be blocked during the process.
Wow, cool! I'm amazed with how much the game has changed since the beginning. It's really incredible. Well done Sylvain!
Missile bug Nice! I'm going to have to pay much more attention to my missiles. The last couple of days I have not seen the bug. This morning with the new update I'm down to one missile. I'm wondering if it has to do with which missile and how many you buy. Or perhaps how many you have in hand. So far I have been able to buy about 5 stations in systems where they we not on sale before. If you find a good area you can stick around and maybe eventually but most of the stations. I'm doing that in my area of level 26, 27, and 28 systems. I have not found anything above 28 yet.
I've had the missile bug happen randomly. It's a pesky bug, and I don't find a pattern. I always bought the most expensive missiles, and always 30, so maybe it has to do with those facts... I'll try to buy 29 next time around, to see if it has to do with maxing out the missiles...
Am I extremely unlucky? I've found several monoliths, but no new alien words, no new coordinate, nothing... I'm still missing the last coordinate of the last legendary system I'll keep on trying.
You are unlucky, so was I. New coordinates are extremely rare once you have 10 legendary worlds completed. It took me forever to get the last coordinate for world 11. Words can be streaky also. Right now I'm on a good streak for finding new words. A while back I was coming up empty for a long time.
Anybody know where I can find a list of the current features? I was wondering if the planetary exploration has been updated, so that seamless exploration is possible.
Planetary exploration is still grid based, but on my SE it's quite fast. You can find aliens (and their house), different animals, abandoned bases, trees, plants, water,... And you can build your own base using resources. Planets have day-night cycles, wind effects,... It's not like Metroid (you'll have to wait for Morphite for that), but planet exploration is good imo.
Hi Dromaesaurus, as said by VirtualBoyFreak, planet exploration is still grid based. If you have any questions concerning other features, don't hesitate to ask. By the way, release 1.0.95 has been submitted. It will include nice sky improvements!
Update is live, sky looks greater than ever (multiple satellites on a planet, I'm looking at you )... But I still haven't found the last legendary coordinate, doh...
I've bought it, and so far I think it's fun . There's definitely room for improvement, but so far I've liked the fluidity of the games mechanics. The three biggest things I'd like to see are multiple solar satellites (gas giants, dwarf planets without atmospheres, potato shaped bodies) in a system, gas giants(again, because they're beautiful) and asteroid belts. Star variety could be cool, but, like in elite dangerous, differentiating between dwarf stars and supermassive stars can be hard anyway. I know these things are hard to code for, but maybe with later releases these could be really cool features.
