hey Marsault, i've just installed the new update and got crashes attempting to automatically dock some space stations (i don't know which type, the game crashes before i can see them). until now the game worked really good so i guess should be something that you've changed in this new patch.
@Gwarmaxx, eugenemcardle, JasonLL: when does the game crash exactly? When you tap "autodock"? Before? Does it crash every time? I can't reproduce the crash currently, do you have a precise procedure? For other players: don't do the update now.
I updated already before reading this. I've automatically landed on 2 space stations: one hexagonal and one cubic, without a problem. Therefore shape isn't the problem. I'll keep on playing to see if/when it crashes. EDIT: explosives bug is fixed. All resources seem to be saved correctly. I've had a space battle where sometimes the laser cannons were shooting extremely fast. Also, when exploring a planet I put the game in the background to write here. When I went back to the game the line that turns in the scanner was turning extremely fast. It went back to normal after I moved. I don't know if these things have to do or not with the bug, but just in case.
When pressing auto dock it crashed to home screen, BUT, after a reboot now works fine. iPad Pro 9.2in latest firmware
Thanks! Before the reboot, how many crashes did you experiment? How many successful autodock have you done since the reboot? Are you stats (game time etc...) still OK?
Only tried to auto dock three times, once continue game, one new game, and one random system, all crashed at same time with game removed from memory before each attempt. Since reboot all is fine with three auto docks. As regards stats, I've started from scratch so can't comment on them. Keep up the great work, this is an excellent game, although I would prefer an opaque cockpit, but that's no big deal for me.
Had first crash. It was with a purple hexagonal base. Since you've fixed the savegame bug with explosives, my guess is that the bug has to do with the game saving when docking onto the base. As soon as it tries to save, there's a buffer overflow or similar which makes it crash. I'll reboot and try to get to the exact same planet and see what happens. Will keep you updated... EDIT: Sylvain, good and bad news: my savegame is corrupted. It's good news because I can send you my savegame so that you can track how/why it crashes, but it's bad because the bug exists and because I won't be able to send it to you until Monday when I get to work. I have my laptop with iTunes there... My savegame is corrupted because the game saved in a way that if I press autodock in the space station of the planet where I last saved it crashes. It doesn't matter if I reboot the phone or not, it always crashes. I don't know if landing manually would solve the problem, but I don't want to fix it so that you can track the bug when I send it to you.
Indeed, I think the bug may have to do with the new game saving system (backups are done that keep 5 min, 1 hour, 24 hours, and 1week old savegame files).
Since I can't find a way of extracting the savegame without iTunes (oh, how much I miss iFile on my jailbroken 4S for this...), I'll send it to you on Monday so that you can experiment with it. If someone knows a way of extracting/sharing files that can be usually shared through iTunes file sharing, but without a computer (i.e.: an app that allows to do this directly with the phone, non jailbroken), let me know.
ok, i'm on iOS 7 and still can use iFunbox, so i've rolled back to the previous game version and got the last Documents folder backup (i made it before delete the new update), and in the same Station i haven't any crash. btw, the crashes on the new uodate happens when i tap to dock, but not in all stations, seems random, or maybe only in some specific ones, i don't know.
I've tried again and now it works. I haven't done anything consciously, not even reboot again. I'll keep on trying to see if I can reproduce it and find a pattern.
I temporarily removed it, as i don't want users to experiment the crash (and i don't know yet if this cash is frequent or not). If it happens that it doesn't really prevent users to play, i may make Stellar Horizon available again. But in any cases, i have to fix it quickly. That is why it is important that users report the issue as precisely as possible.
Ok well thanks for the quick answer I was looking to buy. I guess I'll keep an eye out for it it looks like a lot of fun.
I've been playing for two hours without crashes. After the crash disappeared from my savegame it's been working fine. Could it be possible that the crash happens when creating a specific backup archive, but not when the archive is overwritten? I still have time to play a bit more. Will continue doing so to see if it happens more or not. EDIT: an important thing: when you dock manually to the space station it doesn't save. When you dock manually, the message you get after landing is "Dock manually or autodock for 2500 credits". I'm going to try again to make 100% sure about this, but that might be the reason why the bug doesn't happen when you dock manually (no saving = no bug).
