@odi0n: I'm also tracking Rogue Star thread and saw your post there. I also thought long time ago that a combo game of both would be amazing, but Stellar Horizon is improved after each upgrade. On the other hand, Rogue Star hasn't added many new things in its updates, aside from new missions. Don't get me wrong: that game is fantastic, but I think Stellar Horizon is much deeper and allows for more exploration. The only thing I like more from Rogue Star is the space battles, but the ones in Stellar Horizon have improved a lot since the launch of the game, and while at the beginning they felt like "meh", now they are very good, and if you're not careful you can be in great trouble when attacked by 4 elite crafts. I've dedicated many, many hours to both, and if I had to choose just one, I'd pick Stellar Horizon with my eyes closed. As for the roll buttons request, I also think it would be cool to have them always, or even having an option in settings to show them or not, according to people's preferences. @Sylvain: the missile bug seems to be fixed by itself. I emptied my missile cargo, found a space station with the best missiles, bought 30 and played and played. After visiting 2-3 planets, I noticed I had 29 missiles without shooting any, so I shot one, played more, quit the game, reloaded and I had 28 missiles as expected The new update is great, and the planets look much better now. I still have to find an alien to see where they live, but planets seem more varied now. Draw distance was also improved greatly, and now you can see resources and monoliths at the horizon before seeing them in the scanner. This is very, very useful. Would it be possible to grant a bonus for destroying asteroids? I think it would be a cool motivation for destroying them all when you "crash" into them from hyperspace. For example, 1000 credits per asteroid destroyed seems a good amount. That way you can choose to destroy none, one, all... And get a benefit for it. Kind of "space cleaning" mission. As for the"build your base", I'm still going towards the legendary system where I'm going to build it, but for the moment I'm stocking 3 of each resource available in the ship. This occupies around 250 slots, letting me use the other 150 for trading purposes. We'll see how building the base goes when I get to the system. EDIT: I've just loaded the game and seen that the 3t of explosives I had in my ship had disappeared. Maybe there's a problem saving that stock. The rest are okay.
Yeah I like the improved draw distance and beautification features in the new update. I was going through the topic yesterday looking for helpful information and the old planet exploration screenshots almost look like something from a prequel.
Interesting breakdown. Yes, I've seen you post in one of the threads, the many hours you've spent with both games. You drop valuable insight. I agree with you -- Stellar Horizon has the depth hands down. Actually, Stellar Horizon has it all in my eyes. Where it lacks extremely for me is: * Awkward placement of location in regards to ship flight buttons. * Tap, tap system. Having to lift and accurately bring your finger point to the + and - to tap the very small throttle buttons. Then when you miss the buttons, and somehow tap the vertical line in-between them, the game hurls your ship around 360, disorienting you. * No Ship roll availability, only when docking. * No Mining, No Asteroid Fields (perfect for pirating or ambushing pirates) perfect for sneaky bastards like me. This is indeed a beautiful game, no doubt about it. I am still impressed especially with how small it's digital footprint is. This brother has Bethesda skill level compressing talents. I truly hope Horizon makes him enough money to where he can add these things. Currently, for me, respectfully when I say this... Horizon falls flat as a sim in regards to placating those who love the art of flight and playing with the very parameters of flight, that eventually evolve into skill. That said, I'm still going to play Horizon - but as soon as something comes up that offers what this game has and the mechanics I mention above in one nice package -- I'm out.
I understand you. Check Morphite 3D thread in the upcoming games thread. I think that one will suit you when it comes out. I'll have to make a specific folder for these games on my phone.
Holy shit! That looks insane. I'm there. Good looking out! Hope ship sim has enough sim to it. UPDATE: Beautiful game, but not space sim. I'm cool. Stellar Horizon: On planet, surface what are the yellow dots with yellow coordinate numbers that decrease as you get closer? They cannot be scanned even when your facing them on radar? Also, when you pass them they turn into red dots. ^^UPDATE: Never mind. I get it. Planet surface scanning for my mission of seven points to scan in Zaeheria. Nav Screen Is there a way for me to choose a star system from the map, so my ship can track it in realtime? I tried tapping on a star system but it remains inactive, so I can't make it an objective.
So far, I believe only legendary coordinates. You need the coordinates of a planet to track them. When you unlock a legendary planet, you get its coordinates. Click the coordinates button in navigation menu and put them in (can be a little quirky putting in the numbers but it's fine). When you press done, it locks the coordinates in and a yellow dotted line on your map leads you to the planet which is highlighted in yellow. Thought only close planets appear, this planets square and how far away it is will always be visible. Hope that helped #
Hi OdiOn, i'm glad you enjoy the game, even if, as you highlighted it, Stellar Horizon is far from being perfect. It is true that i've never paid much attention to flight mechanics! Thanks to this thread, i know now this aspect may be important to some players. Obviously there is still a lot of work, but unfortunately not much time (i develop on my spare time), but i will do my best! I hope you will spend some enjoyable hours with Stellar Horizon. @virtualBoyFreak: thanks for your savegame! For the moment i've not reproduced your bug (tried only once). But i'm very impressed with your stats! Wow!
Mmm, maybe it has to do with the phone language settings? When I had an N-Gage years ago, there was a spaceship racing game that worked fine with the phone language set to English, but the last races were bugged if the phone was set to non-English language.
I've been playing since for what seems like the beginning and I still suck. Any tips on earning money. I occasionally do missions but they can be long and don't reward that much money. I tend to just MINE a ton and sell it all. Not the best strategy, but I play more for the exploration.
Sylvain, the fact that you make this game in your spare time is incredible. It's improved so much and it's updated constantly. I wish every game dev was like this!
For me, this is one of the best space games available. The size of the universe, how you can land on any planet and explore them, trading, missions... Everything is great, and it improves update after update. The most incredible part is that it's a one-man project on his free time. I just wish more media made echo of it or reviewed the game...
So I ended up hitting one of your cash limits. Yeah, Total cash earned by stations = $2 billion dollars now. It is stuck at 2billion and does not move. Oh well, that's not really an issue. I'm concerned about the cash on hand number though. That limit must be 2 billion also. Not that I'll get to that anytime soon, I'm spending my cash on stations every time I find one that earns above my avg earnings per station amount. That currently is at $171,773. I need to buy stations from tech level 24 worlds or higher. That's kind of rare... I'm loving the way this game continually evolves. So let me try and describe why I like this game. I think the whole game can be summed up in 6 words. "Look, space! Go check it out." That's it, how you go about it is up to you. The first thing I do in any of these types of open ended games is remove all barriers to progression. Something like this: 1. Get the best vehicle the game provides. 2. Don't want to lose it? Max out the weapons/shields or whatever the game offers. 3. Set everything up so you never have to worry about cash ever again. I'm at this point and now can drop $150 million or more on a station without even checking my available balance. Of course stations like this are very rare so I only buy when I can raise my average earnings. 4. Then do whatever you want. I may start missions and bounties soon, you never know.
Hey drh, what device and iOS version are you on? I lose all the "explosives" cargo every time I load my game, but Sylvain can't reproduce the bug. I'm on an SE on iOS 10.2, he's on iOS 9.3.1. He believes it might have to do with the iOS version.
Hi VBF. I'm on an iPad Air and am using iOS 10.2. I'm don't recall if you ever mentioned it but which missile in particular do you purchase to get the bug to happen? Do you purchase 30 of them or do you have a mix of missile types on your ship? Purchase them all at once or in steps? Does the bug occur right after purchase, do you buy the missiles, exit and save and then reload and they are gone? Any details you can give me will help. I'll try to reproduce it by doing exactly what you do. I'll dump all of my missiles next time I play and wait for your reply.
At the moment, try buying "explosives", save the game by landing anywhere, kill the game from the background and open it. Are the "explosives" you bought still there? In my case, they all disappear... Btw, explosives are the first resource of the list.
Explosive bug confirmed! Ok, I misunderstood and thought you said missiles. I can confirm the bug. It happens every time I save, whether it is by landing on a station or by taking off from a planet. For Marsaults information: iPad Air, 128Gb, about 7 Gb free. iOS 10.2. Bug is repeatable.
Sylvain said the bug doesn't happen on his phone, with iOS 9.3.1. Can anyone with another iOS (7.1.2, 8.X) confirm it doesn't happen? I'll try on my iPad this afternoon (iOS 7.1.2) to see if it happens or not...
Bug confirmed on iOS 9! My explosives disappeared. I have this issue when i download the game from the appstore, but i can't reproduce it by installing the game from my development environnement... I will investigate more.
I've seen this before... I just need to remember which game it was. I think it has to do with how Apple signs the IPA's. Your development environment doesn't have your user ID integrated in the IPA. EDIT: I think it has to with the xcode version used to compile the IPA, or something like that. I remember when I had a 4S that I asked you to make it ios 7 compatible. Did you have to change something compiler-related to achieve this backwards compatibility? The bug might have been around for some time, but I didn't notice until now because explosives are not a profitable resource, and I didn't feel the need of owning any until now with the bases. I'll try to relive my 4S and see if the version I have installed there has the bug...
Well, did so, and guess what: the bug exists on Stellar Horizon v1.0.60 from the 25th October, so I believe that the bug has been there since long ago, but only now that all resources gained importance is when it appeared.
