    Hi drh,

I usually hit the land button, I move around the planet and then I take off.

Once I had traded goods too, but the second time I just bought missiles.

I only tried with great power missiles, i.e.: missiles that have more power than the laser I own. I don't know if this happens with low power missiles too. It always happened when I bought missiles, but as I said, high power ones.

My cargo hold is usually 250 occupied slots. The rest are empty.

Release 1.0.82 is in progress. It will add more diversity to the planets, as higher mountains and wider seas.

All beautiful, really. In this last one I spot something similar to an observatory, right? It looks fantastic. Great job Sylvain :)

That looks fantastic! Can't wait to see more improvement on planet exploration. It started with a static screen. Then you fantastically enabled planet exploration. You have over time added an S2 mode, added plants and life!! Now this, I can't wait for the future. I hope someday it can be completely reworked from grid based, but it's amazing right now!

Planetary exploration upgrades to the ship would be a great idea. Such as movement speed (S2, S3) and radar upgrades that improve detection range and/or chance of finding minerals. Maybe some planets with inhospitable conditions may even require updated hardware on the ship to adequately move about (locked at standard speed without upgrades) or to increase the intentionally low view distance of a atmospherically dense planet.

These all sound great, and they seem more or less easy to do from a dev's point of view, with filters and yes/no conditionals to explore a planet depending on equipped tech.

EDIT: aaaaaand another update goes live, making the game more enjoyable than the previous update, but less enjoyable than the updates to come :D

How do you do what? There's no screenshot attached nor any explanation... EDIT: After seeing JasonLL's explanation, I guess you put it in the title of your post. In the TA app I don't see that section, sorry...

To analyze vegetable samples you need to explore a planet with vegetation (vegetation currently looks like various forms of long grass) . Not all planets will have vegetation so it may take some exploring before finding the planets that support vegetation. When you find vegetation and you want to analyze a sample just move towards, or on, the vegetation. Same goes for water sample missions. Hope this helps you out a bit.

Thanks. Very detailed explanation. I have a few other questions you can maybe help me out with, while I learn this game:

    LANDING ON A PLANET
I was able to land on a planet due to me accepting a job on the station above it. After accepting the job, it basically pointed to the planet warp portal. (The area which gives you entry into the planet)

How do I land on a planet on my own? Where do I locate the entry point? Is it on the radar?

    PLANET MOVEMENT SPEED
After you press any of the movement buttons, three white lights keep flashing, then after a good long while 6-7 seconds, you move in correspondence to whatever button it is you pressed.

Is this natural? I tried with both S0 and S1 options (I'm assuming those mean speed) still very slow. I'm playing on my iPad mini 4 with graphics maxed out. Is the turning/movement not instantaneous?

    PLANET RADAR ORIENTATION
Just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly, on the planet, straight solid line in the radar - is this your field of view?

The dotted lines as you traverse, is this representative of where you moved from? (In other words your trail)

SPACE STATION NOT COMING UP ON RADAR
Am I missing something here? I looked on the radar and it's not appearing.

To answer some of your questions:

    1. To land on a planet manually, after you exit the station you face the planet. You should see a translucent box. Fly to it and once you reach it you will land.
    2. The reason it takes 6-7 seconds is you have the settings maxed out. Ultra settings are really only for screenshots. I own an iPhone 7 and it takes about 2 secs on high settings. On low settings the turning and such is instantaneous.
    3. All your planet radar orientation inferences are correct. The dots are where you were and the line is your field of view.
I hope that answered some of your questions.

To land on any planet at the moment you must always dock in that planets orbiting station first before you can land. Docking and then undocking in a station gives your pilot clearance and creates that landing gate for you to fly through. Maybe in the future there may be planets without stations and a secondary way to land.

Movement on a planet is grid based (block by block movement) which I like since a lot of first/third person games make me queasy but I may be in the minority. You are correct in assuming that S0 and S1 mean speed, S0 is the standard speed and S1 is fast speed. If you have the surface graphics set to ULTRA you may want to turn them down to HIGH for shorter loading times between movement. The recommended graphics settings is MEDIUM or lower but I really like the look of planets on HIGH / ULTRA so I keep my surface settings on HIGH and sacrifice a bit of loading speed.

    My config:
    COCKPIT FRAME : ON
    ANTI-ALIASING : ON
    PLANET SURFACE DETAILS : HIGH
    DYNAMIC COCKPIT : ON
    INTERPOLATION : HIGH
    TRANSPARENCY EFFECTS : OFF
    SURFACE DEFINITION : NORMAL
    HORIZON CLIP DISTANCE : ULTRA
    VEGETATION CLIP DISTANCE : ULTRA
    WEATHER EFFECTS : OFF
    Yes.
There should always be a space station orbiting near the planet. Reaching a new system is a two step process. First you want to H jump to a nearby system (tapping on your radar until you get zoom level 1x will show nearby systems) . Then after your H jump the ship should have come to a stop which means your in the system of the planet then you need to S jump to the planet and its station. S jumping should take you directly to the planets space station as long as there are no hostiles or asteroids in your way.

No problem, glad we can be of help! This game can be quite daunting at first but once you get the hang of things everything falls in place and the community is eager to help.

VirtualBoyFreak wrote some good information on page 76 for buying / selling / navigation:
    http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=282047&page=76

Here is a QuickStart guide I wrote a while back that may be of some help although forgive me for not realizing my ships screen was cracked a couple of replies above my post :D.
    http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=282047&page=72

Throughout this huge topic there is a bunch of great info from everyone but it can be quite a extensive process to go through all the pages so I just picked a couple of replies that may help you get started but there is a bunch of good advice to be found.

No need to apologize. These are wonderful!! Thank you.

If anything I apologize for my bombardment of questions. If you can answer will help my understanding where dev plans to take this game. Quick questions about certain game features:

Ship Roll: Has the dev mentioned anything about implementing full ship roll not just when docking? I love the art of flight, love my ship rolls and how they assist in tight turns. Especially during dog fights or traversing through asteroid belts.

Asteroids, Asteroid Belts, Mining: Haven't seen any nor any mining jobs listed. Has this been spoken about for implementation?

Well damn, just found another Elite Dangerous iOS game. This is the same one from Commodore 64. Just downloaded it, has up to 4 player MP as well:
